Every great player needs a foil, someone to motivate them to work even harder to beat them. Ray had the great QBs he had to play just about every season, if not one, then both of them, and probably at least one of them in the playoffs. Peyton and Tom had defensive guys like Ray that you had to account for on every snap, and had to work even harder to fool. It's a team game, but it's amazing how one guy in an important position working his butt off to study can mean the difference between winning and losing, especially in a league that seeks parity. Talent got you to the Show, but hard work will keep you there and get you to the championship level.

Ray Lewis played against Peyton Manning 10 times.
Manning won seven of the ten games, although The Ravens did win in their final matchup in the 2013 playoffs on their way to the superbowl beating Denver 38-35.
There were two other games, one when Peyton was in Indy and one with Denver where Lewis was inactive. Peyton's team won both of those.

If you really watch him play, he was one of the most punishing and cleanest hitters with the shoulders/pads and wrapping with his hands. Even all the biggest hits, shoulders or hands. That Legend did not hit with his helmet, aka no CTE. His technique was a thing of beauty and also SO punishing at the same time, a master at his craft.
