Hi. What if the external drive has been corrupted and is not visible in Disk Management but when trying to connect, sometimes pops up in Device Manager under Hard Drives and then disappears.
My external hard drive does not show up on My Computer. I tried opening Disk Management but still my External HD is still not detected. I run DiskPart then typed, "list disk" and showed only one drive is online. Disk 0. Can you give me some advices or instructions what to do?
Can't select or click on a drive that has stopped appearing in File Explorer. How do I get the external hard drive to appear in Windows 11 File Explorer?
Thanks a ton. I am a Network Field Engineer and should know what I'm doing(aparrently not) 😂 ... but I forgot one stupid step😂... jumped on a how to video found you! AND YOU HELPED ME! Had to wipe volume, reallocate, other wise it would only show up in Disk Management. Thanks for the Refresher. 👍

Serge, good day, I plugged in my external and can't find it in either the disk management or the device manager. Its a seagate 1 TB I purchased from costco, I have it in a usb port that reads other drives. Its plugged in with the light on. Currently in a location where replacing cable is difficult, or trying in another computer, but ill see what I can find around here. Im also getting the chime when I plug it in. I am currently on a 2017 razor blade gtx 1060 (by the way is having screen flickering issues as well when it runs for long periods of time). Thanks for any help! Greatly appreciated.
oh wow that's funny that you have screen flicker I just got two Alienware machines and both of them seem to have screen flicker lol... and these machines are new lol.. yeah... sounds like it may continue to give you trouble off and on. I noticed with a lot of those HDD they tend to have pretty bad quality and work off and on. If you can just switch to a portable ssd and call it good because those never have any issue at all. If you have valuable information on this drive send it to a recovery lab they might be able to fix it because some drives really do have a hardware problem that needs to be addressed.
Yoo I have the same brand of hdd. Same problem too. Connects fine and spins normally eveny lights up. But the disk management cant detect the hdd. Im using a seagate 2T expansion one. It seems the seagate offices in my area have all closed down and theres no way tok avail the warranty.
My HDD shows in the BIOS, but odes not show in disk management.. theres so unallocated data. also shows up with stella but shows as "Lost" does that mean it is corrupted?
So my external drive wont come up on my laptop or desktop. It does show up in disk management but there is no size or partions. I cant do anything with it. I have tried differnt cords.
so yesturday i was able to add the external drive but then when i was done playing DayZ i went to shut off my pc laptop and the external drive was still connected and the pc wont fully turn of becuase it was still connected but when i turned off pc and turned back on it wouldnt load up until i removed the drive and then i logged in and plugged it back in and now it wont show at all but when i open disk management and everytime i unplug the drive it will pop op for a spit second and say its not initialised or something like that do i need to buy a new one lol or no
my drive doesn't show up in the disk management at all and it is running NTFS and no tutorials show a solution for this problem can you please help me :)
My problem is the drive can't be detected in the disk management. But the device manager seems to detect it. However it doesn't show up or open in any way.
@@sklbt- tried to avail the warranty, problem is Im in Japan and the drive is from Singapore. I bought it online from a store here in Osaka but it seems the device was manufactured from Singapore. Hi Serge, I had trouble getting my Toshiba external drive to show up and was following instructions on other sites that advised me to do something with a partition yet after following the instructions, my files were deleted. How can I get these files back?

Since it works on another system with usb2.0 there’s a chance your USB is having issues. Actually USB ports die all the time most of my machine eventually tend to have issues with ports try using a different port also if your drive works in a different machine try switching the hard drives and boot with the same drive OS but on a different machine and see if it still works, this would require you to move boot drives however it will tell you if it’s software related because sometimes windows doesn’t operate correctly. Drivers become corrupt and the system might say that drivers are good but there not and doing a clean install to get them working correctly might be an option clean install means removing the software then reinstalling, if you just reinstall the issue may remain.

you are hopeless. you suppose to tell us a way if the disk DID NOT SHOW UP IN DISK MANAGEMENT
Plug it in another computer or laptop and wait for the driver to install. And if it shows up you can plug it back to your normal pc.
