@@adrianac142 the model S and X also are going stalkless. These are $95-110K vehicles with air suspension and what have you. I think the cost of adding a stalk, a device and manufacturing process that was refined for decades in several brands, is negligible. I think it’s rather a design vision; a vision of autonomous driving, and striving for minimalism.
They are an American company and in their attempt for minimalism didn’t realize a country like the Netherlands (213 times smaller than the US) has 6000 roundabouts, only 1000 less than the USA. They designed it with an American lens, which is clearly a mistake.
In doing so they’ve sacrificed usability and safety for a cleaner dashboard. Ironically their screen is getting more and more crowded with buttons. So it depends on what constitutes minimalism 🤷🏻‍♂️

The biggest problem with Tesla right now is that they keep making changes that are built on a bad foundation. The removal of stalks is just one recent example: both the automatic gear selection and turn signal cancellation are both maybe 50-80% reliable (anything under 100% should not be acceptable). I turned off the auto signal cancel because it would constantly fight me when I have my turn signal on in a turn lane, for example. The Tesla experience over the last 3 years has largely been one of mounting frustration as more and more decisions are made without regard to the user experience and instead for the sake of novelty and pushing the appearance of advancement.
Removal of stalks would be fine if the features that exist to reduce friction as a result of the change actually worked with even some degree of reliability. Similarly, autowipers based on vision only are what, 7 years old now? And they're still truly one of the most frustrating pieces of software I've interacted with in my life. The removal of USS is what, a year and change in, and vision is still nothing close to a reliable replacement for USS.

I’ve driven S and X for years but seeing videos of the new stalkless cars being driven in Europe made me decide to switch brands next year. Just not sure which one.
It’s simply unsafe to exit a roundabout - one of many every trip - with my steering wheel turned 90-180 degrees and me having to find the indicator buttons. How on Earth didn’t they catch that?!

After seeing this review, I'm less convinced by the new Tesla model 3. I don't like what they have done to the logo? Any car I owned, had the logo on the steerring wheel.
And I kinda get the feeling, that this is more of a car to simply cruise on the highway? With my Nissan Leaf, I can actively switch between D and B mode, which gives more pleasure to the driving.
With Tesla, you do this with touch: so if it has a B mode? Then I don't think, it would be fun to having to activate it through the touchscreen? Also the missing stalks, are going be a major issue in Europe!
I hope Tesla brings those back: not indicating on a roundabout, can get you tracfic tickets. As mentioned, in the states no issue? But here in Europe, a very big issue. I wouldn't be surprised, seeing many new Tesla's involved in accidents. Because they didn't indicate?
I like the Nissan Arriya more btw: unlike Tesla, they don't remove all the features which cars had for years. And replace it with a single touchscreen. Although I really would have to test drive a Tesla sometime?
Just that I had the experience, dealing with touchscreens during driving can be a pain in the @#ss. Also it's distracting, that's why I like buttons. They are easy to control.

Coming from a 2015 scion Tc I can’t wait to see the used market value on “older” models in 2024/2025 with the used ev tax credit. Being able to get a 4 year old model 3 for essentially 50%+ off beats any of these updates imo. I’d take a used 2021 model 3 LR/Performance over a 2024 standard range tbh. Much more fun and will be 1/2 the cost in a few months - year.

It really depends on how much is your daily commute, how many longer trips you do and what are your charging abilities at home.
For example, my daily commute is around 50miles (around 20% of SR battery) and I can just plug the car up for charge in the garage every day when I get home. From this perspective, a car with half the battery of the SR would still be enough for me. However, we like road trips at weekends (max 2 hours or 100miles away from home, No big distances in Europe...) and the SR is still perfect for that.
We do bigger distance maybe once or twice a year and then we can use Tesla superchargers on the way which are very fast and mostly reliable (again, in Europe).
I would only get LR if I would do 250+ miles trips weekly or if I couldn't charge the car at home.
      Hope that helps 😊

Now that we are in the 2024 year, do you think we would get the refreshed model 3 or the current Model 3 if I place my order today)? I am thinking to pull the trigger of the Performance but i am not sure whether we would get the refreshed (highland) version or the current version of the M3. thanks Alot

I would definitely trade my 2023 model Y to this one. My model Y is shit. I drive around LA to Santa Monica a lot road imperfections, but shit the whole car rattles every go through those road imperfections, car rattles and the sound inside my cabin ot feels like cheap old car. I took it to the service center twice already, they said that how the model Y drives. Do you guys experiencing the same thing? I’m coming from 2 model 3’s 2020 and 2022. What would you recommend, Brandon? Thanks!
    I love this video!

I have one very important question. How are we supposed to get mods to correct for the lack of a turn signal?. In last gen model 3 you can correct for most of the car’s short comings with aftermarket hud, sexy buttons, roof liner etc how can you create a whole new stalk?? imo this iteration of m3 is cursed to much to fail

Model Y interior will be EXACTLY the same. They won’t be adding any more features compared to Highland. If they did it will only be retractable sun shade because Y doesn’t have crossbar in ceiling

You are good to highlight the difference between the US and European roads, with regards to indicating. Australia, NZ, Asia are all similar to Europe. Personally I resent the fact that I would have to pay even more money for aftermarket stalks, not to mention the warranty and reliability issues that potentially arise.
