As a TSLA shareholder, this Model 3 Plus (Highland) is what I have been wanting to see. When you consider Tesla tech, it has been great, but the refinements was a weak spot. If Model Y gets this kind of an upgrade next year, it will likely take the best selling vehicle for 2024, which would mean back-to-back best selling vehicle in the world for the year. If Tesla has not raised the manufacturing cost, maybe reduced the cost, raised the quality, and did a small price hike, it is very impressive. They are addressing their biggest weaknesses, which has to give competitors the chills. Reasons not to buy a Tesla keep falling. Competitors said they were going to catch up to Tesla's tech, but they are not there, but Tesla is catching up on refinement, interior, paint, etc.

Drove the rwd yesterday with the black interior. Coming from a BMW G30 530e I was very pleasantly surprised and not disappointed to make the switch to electric driving.
There were well made Teslas coming from Shanghai already, the problems seem to be mainly related to Fremont. We will see if they manage to fix those issues over there too.

Good info if you're in the market for a Chinese-made Model 3+/Highland. Tesla-Shanghai seems to have a very good record of quality assembly. Can Fremont do as well? I'll hold off watching videos about Tesla Model 3+/Highland quality until they feature Fremont-built models.

Done a good job with the design will get a lot attention if this comes to Usa .. interior improvements suspension , blind spot , back screen entertainment , back trunk closing with two motors .. and biggest plus are the speakers 17 .. ambient lighting, ventilated seats .. this should be the bang for ur buck if ur buying a ev .. i bet they will increase the price .

A HUD is useless and distracting. Think about all the people already distracted by small things inside their cars or phones. A HUD would just make accidents more likely, as people already find it difficult to focus on just the road.
Thank goodness Tesla finally did something about the front end of the Model 3. It looked like Daffy Duck after Elmer Fudd blew his bill off with his 12 gauge shotgun. The new front end is a huge step in the right direction. So this is a Shanghai build. It will be interesting to see how the US builds look in the panel gap department, although newer builds have been looking much better than the first year of Model 3 production. Thanks for giving the new Tesla a good looking over!
That is my only concern. It seems that the Shanghai factories Tesla's are much better in the build quality department compared to their USA counterparts. Guess we will have to wait and see how it turns out, but I'm not holding my breath.
According to some other channels that have done test drives, they agree that the suspension is a greatly improved and that the overall interior sound noise is also improved.

Most things point to the new Model 3 being available Q1 of 2024 here in the States. As for price, rumors suggest that it will likely stay the same or have a very small increase.

Supposedly, there have been rumors of Tesla bringing some people from the Shanghai factories to Fremont as well as Giga Texas to improve the build quality. But we will have to wait and see if that is true and if the build quality is better than previously.
You'd be right, the standard range Model 3 only has 9 speakers compared to the Long Range that has 17 and this includes subwoofers in the rear where those covers are.
Apparently the first production batch of refreshed model 3's is without tow hitch. I'll let you know when mine gets here, but Europe may have a different style tow hitch.

I've personally owned different Models 3's. One 2020 that was US-built. one 2022 that was built in China. One 2022 built in the USA. The Chinese built car was WAY better in every aspect to the US-built ones that in terms of build quality was sub par in every way. Not even close in comparison unfortunately.
You buy a Model S for better performance, range, adaptive air suspension, hatchback trunk with more cargo space, etc... Obviously the Model 3 Highland is a way better value if cost is a factor.
LFP BYD blade battery? Euro-spec that felt stuff on the rear I suspect will wear out quickly over time as most cars have a hard protective cover at that part of the trunk/boot. You'll have to do the same for US build spec and see difference. No stalks though and that could hurt their sales numbers with people going for the competition instead. So the EU will need to change the rules so it's not just making a noise but a certain dB level is required. Well RHD markets you can't buy an S or X anymore only 3 & Y.
This may be a silly question but does it have dual zone climate in the front? I only saw one climate setting when you both sat down, but that may be a setting change. And I assume it’s just one zone in the back? 21:44
It is dual zone in the front and single zone in the back. There is a “sync” setting in the options that when turned on it makes the front a single zone and as such only gives one option for temperature and fans. But, when you turn off the “sync” setting, it makes it dual zone with adjustable temperature and fan speed for each front seat.
@@David_Polak No, in the new one the screen allows you to have temperature for the back but it’s only one zone for the entire back. It also allows you to turn on the heated seats as well.
Thank you for this great video! I was wondering if you, or someone else, can give some details on the material used in the centerpiece of the door panel. It seems that they use a different material in RWD then on the LR. Respectively a cloth like material (so it seems) and the Alcantara like material that we already know. In the white interior it seems to be covered in the same vegan material that is used for the seats. Would love to hear more on this, differences and quality wise.
This car is built in China. Most people in the US are probably not aware that the build quality of the pre Highland model 3s built in China since 2020 has always been better than the US built model 3s. So it's hard to know if the comparison in build quality in this video is between pre and post Highland model 3s or between US and China built model 3s.
I love some of these comments “wow same coloured bumpers, wow no gaps, wow no water will get in the brake lights, wow no creaks” finally Tesla has caught up with the most basic of quality that every other brand has had for years. Elon is a lucky man. Visually the car is definitely an improvement on the old.
To be fair, it is a completely different manufacturing and assembly process than other car brands, as well as the fact that a lot of those other brands have had a 100-year head start.
You know the toyota 86 had notorious water ingress problems in their rear tail lights right. Manufacturing issues happen to ALL brand on ALL cars from time to time. It just plain ignorant to think they don't. My Audi RS3 had one TERRIBLE panel gap that was so obvious and bad, it got replaced under warranty, far worse than any tesla gap. I'm amazed it got let out of the factory but the reality is, cars are manufactured products with thousands of parts. Sometimes, some cars will have problems from every brand.
@@stinger15au Exactly. My current car (2021 Acura RDX) came with paint defects and panel gaps on the doors and the rear tail gate, straight from the factory. I decided to not get them fixed because I couldn't leave the car with them for the amount of time they needed to fix the issues. Needless to say, every car brand has issues. No car is 100% spotless from the factory. Even some of the most expensive cars in the world come with defects sometimes. If you want more insight into this, look no further than car detailing channels, where they often point out defects on brand-new cars that have less than 10 or 20 miles on them.
They did the right thing going to one-piece design taillights, you cant or it is tough to miss-align those, especially with no chrome elements. Mercedes can't get it right, I saw an Audi RSQ the other day, and it was a terrible fitment. One piece design can be a bit boring but at least it is aligned perfectly.
Definitely would address the co-hosts mic. I can barley hear him. Tesla should take notes from the Lucid Gravity, since they eliminated the seat back pocket & put a airplane style table there instead.

Are you sure that’s a 12v battery under the hood? I was under the impression they went to 16v.
There was a video showing that the earlier labels was mistakenly marked as 12V but they are 16V
The covers that you see for the speakers in the trunk are there because the SR does not have the Subs, that are positioned there at the LR Highland.

The zone in the back corresponds with the zone(s) in front. There is no third zone in de back.

They probably moved the wiper fluid, at least in part, to make it easier to get to. It looks way easier to reach than where it used to be.

Manufacturing issues happen to ALL brand on ALL cars from time to time. It just plain ignorant to think they don't.
My Audi RS3 had one TERRIBLE panel gap that was so obvious and bad, it got replaced under warranty, far worse than any tesla gap. I'm amazed it got let out of the factory but the reality is, cars are manufactured products with thousands of parts. Sometimes, some cars will have problems from every brand.
@@stinger15au Exactly. My current car (2021 Acura RDX) came with paint defects and panel gaps on the doors and the rear tail gate, straight from the factory. I decided to not get them fixed because I couldn't leave the car with them for the amount of time they needed to fix the issues. Needless to say, every car brand has issues. No car is 100% spotless from the factory. Even some of the most expensive cars in the world come with defects sometimes. If you want more insight into this, look no further than car detailing channels, where they often point out defects on brand-new cars that have less than 10 or 20 miles on them.
They need to move the secondary rear lights higher on the vehicle. Good that they have them but far less effective being so low to the ground.

Go checkout your ICE’s fit and finish. I found my model 3 is much better than the Honda Civic.
They did the right thing going to one-piece design taillights, you cant or it is tough to miss-align those, especially with no chrome elements. Mercedes can't get it right, I saw an Audi RSQ the other day, and it was a terrible fitment. One piece design can be a bit boring but at least it is aligned perfectly.

Definitely would address the co-hosts mic. I can barley hear him. Tesla should take notes from the Lucid Gravity, since they eliminated the seat back pocket & put a airplane style table there instead.
