That was a fantastic 4K presentation. Anything Kubrick does really should be on a list like this.
Glad to see someone mention this one. Spartacus and FMJ just might be the best looking 4k transfers of movies shot on film released this year.
I have bought so many 4K movies this year. At the beginning of this year I maybe had 10 4K releases. Today I have over 100 4K releases. For 2020 new releases a few of my top 4Ks are Joker, The Invisible Man, Ford V Ferrari Knives Out and 1917. For catalogue titles some of my favorites were The Alfred Hitchcock Collection, The Lord of the Rings, Hocus Pocus, Beetlejuice and Jaws. I did buy the Columbia Classic set but have not got the chance to watch any of the films yet, but I do agree that the packaging is fantastic!
Is the psycho uncut version on a 4k disc or BluRay disc, or both?
Hey I just wanna say thank you for making these video and all the work you put into them. Great choices!!! My favourite release is Jaws. It’s also one of my all time favourites!!! Gonna check the other releases!!! Have a great holiday and stay safe
Greetings from Berlin
Dennis
I thought coming to America looked amazing
It was a good one! Just not my top of the year. But still great
I do agree on the Jason set , and getting lord of ring set for Christmas so will have to wait to see what I think ...Beetlejuice was pretty good also and Spartacus was pretty amazing as well
Was waiting for your 2020 list, Jeff! Nice
(Jaws Discovision guy)
Hearing the reviews of the LotR release fortunately makes it somewhat easier to wait for the complete edition next year. I hope that it will not be too expensive and/or limited.
I'm not sure what you mean. Special features will probably not look or sound any better than they do on the Blu-ray. And I have the extended edition Blu-ray so I can watch the special features anytime I want on those.
@@wendylynn7058 I mainly meant Hobbit and LotR together in a hopefully nice box (something like the wooden middle earth collection a few years back).
However, supposedly there will also be even more special features.
The uncut version of psycho also appears on a blu ray release of psycho released in tandem with the 4K set
In regards to Friday The 13th set, Is it actually a "4k Transfer" if its not on a 4K Disc?
What kind of TV do you use to review these blu rays???
Great account on Zombie. Peaked my interest. Thanks.
Are the LOTR films the theatrical or extended cuts?
Mine came with both.
Awesome. Thanks.
Favorite channel on RUclips! Keep it up, Jeff!
I love you, man. Great review and definitely discs getting added to my wishlist! Happy Holidays from Texas! 🎄
Own them all except the Hitchcock collection, so need to grab that. Grabbed Zombie thanks to your last vid and not only is the transfer insane, but it got me into Fulci’s other films. Thanks for the vid.
Love your channel and reviews. Any idea on what is happening with imax enhanced titles?? I have not seen any recent big movie names!!
Dude I do love the lord of the rings 4K edition it was worth the hype and money
I look forward to grabbing my hands on the 4K UltraHD BluRay of Midsommar in some way
Great video I love 4k Physical Media is the way to go
Stand by your opinion, Jeff!
Happy new year Jeff! All the best! Johnny T. Liverpool UK👍
Got the last of the new stock of Midsommar Director's Cut 4k for Christmas, love A24!
So happy you picked Columbia Classics for number 1. I love it and was so happy it was successful
Can you review crouching tiger hidden dragon in 4k
Is it me or the comparaison I've seen between the blu ray and the 4k of jaws doesn't make it look like there is a huge gap between the 2 versions.
Love your videos, Jeff. You're the man. Stay healthy and happy holidays!
Its been an Awesome year for 4K releases, I've bought so many UHDs this year, my favourites are LOTR, The Hobbit, Jaws, Flash Gordon, Columbia Classics, Back to the Future, and Bloodshot because it looks and sounds so good. One good outcome of coronavirus has been the huge number of excellent catalogue releases this year.
Like you say, the Columbia Classics is the best set I own, the care and attention to detail is outstanding. I will preorder Volume 2 in a heartbeat.
Thank your for this. Just bought my first 4k player today so I was looking for some good releases
What would be a good price to sell all of the game of thrones series on 4K digital?
Heh Jeff. I love your channel keep it up. I bought the Colombia set a couple months ago. Absolutely amazing. I am surprised that 1917 wasn’t on your list. Incredible picture and sound. Second to none a# far as I’m concerned.
Great review of the best releases this year!
I watch streaming and i have 50 terabytes of movies stored but i love discs. They will continue. I have a bootleg 4k copy of das boot. It is stunning.
Wait, a bootleg 4K version of Das Boot? Is it some kind of fan-project scan like the TN1 Star Wars Original Trilogy in 4K? If so, that sound really intriguing!
@@robinanwaldt got it from pirate bay. I have bluray disc and 4k version looks much better.
I haven't been able to pick up the Hitchcock set yet. I'll go with Joker, Midsommar, RAD, Jaws, Doctor Sleep, 1917, LotR, Beastmaster, Dictrict 9, Columbia Classics Vol 1, Zombie, and Flash Gordon.
1917 and Joker are big omissions from a best-of-the-year list. I'd also have to throw Total Recall in there.
Subed this year keep it going man love the 4k news and love the deal updates via community posts.
