    I done my mudflaps last year, used the official Fiat ones, went like a dream, as you say the offside has sealant in the way, no problems, you may need to put the wheels on full opposite lock to give you more room when tightening the top screws , mine still look like new nearly a year later !!!! Great video Bob

    • @BobEarnshawMoHo
      @BobEarnshawMoHo  4 года назад

      Thanks, access to the clamps was OK and would have been better with the wheels out of the way, but I was trying not to move the wheels, as it would have required starting the motorhome for the power steering and I didn't want to do that just for a short while as it does the engine no good at all.

    Many thanks for the video. My mud flaps arrived with no instructions and I couldn’t make much sense of them. A few minutes with your video and it clicked. Easy fitting thereafter. Much appreciated.

    Hi Bob, I have just started fitting a set to my Peugeot Boxer Elddis Accordo. I decided that I would seal them to the bodywork using Puraflex in the hope to stop the dreaded rust bug getting a hold when the flaps flex. I also found that I could not get the lower wheelarch clip on due to underseal, I did not scrape this off but I think the Puraflex should hold it. I am also in the process of waxoyling the complete chassis of the van which is not a very pleasant job but I think it will be worthwhile. They use a lot of salt on the roads here in Scotland. Great channel BTW.. Cheers Danny

      Thanks, not sure I would want to seal them in though, I'd worry about sealing in moisture.

    • @dannystroud2701
      @dannystroud2701 4 года назад

      @@BobEarnshawMoHo I am hoping it will be OK as it is sealed with the same type of compound they use at the factory to seal the coach built body to the Peugeot Cab.

    Hi Bob I had the same problem, with the genuine Ducato mud flaps.
    To solve the problem I used some black silicon adhesive around the top and side of the mud flap to the wheel arch. Looks perfect now. It also stops the water and dirt getting inbetween the mud flap and wheel arch. I would of took a photo for you but I can't get into the storage site due to Lockdown.
    Keep the videos coming Dave.

    Thanks Bob; could have done with this 3 months ago; but I bought the Fiamma mud flaps. Now been on for 4K miles, given my DIY skills this has been a result. My point in posting is I’ve been disappointed as whilst an improvement offering some protection to the cab area, the width of the body on our Autotrail is such that I don’t think there’s a great deal of improvement. You also have to be careful if reversing onto wheel chocks. But overall I’m happy to have fitted with these qualifications

    Hello Bob, I looked at your video before fitting mine which I have done so today. I am pretty sure that you have put the back of the sill clamp on side down. Also I think the U shaped clamps should have the allen screw head on the inside of the wheel arch. The flat of the U clap should press onto the rubber flap and the allen bolt should tighten down onto the metal wheel arch

    Hi Bob, I was lucky enough to receive exactly this set of mud flaps from my wife, Julie for Christmas and after watching you vlog had a go at fitting. It looks from your Vlog that you have fitted the near side clamps one way and the drivers side differently. The bolt heads on your drivers side install are visible. I think……….you can install both the same way as you have on the drivers side as the removable bit of the clamp can be turned around. I think….that that is the correct install as the return of the removable part if the clamp can then be pointed at the seal producing a more secure hold. Hope that all makes sense, Tony.

    Ok I'm about to do this now. I never got instructions or an allen key. Reading some of the comments and looking at what I have I think the sill clip is the wrong way around. Also I intend to cut an allen key down so I can tighten the clips from inside the arch which will then clamp the rubber with the clamp. Definitely going to use some silicon to hold it in place as well.,

      @@BobEarnshawMoHo it was too awkward doing the allen grub screws up from the rear so I put the clips on same as you did except I put a M5 washer between the screw and the mudflap. This worked great as the screw wasn't cutting into the rubber. I also stuck a load of silicon between the arch and the mudflap which has now dried nicely. I put the bottom bracket the opposite way to you as there's a small lip which it fitted perfectly so won't just slide off unless bolts completely undo. If yours is still attached after this long then either way obviously works. Thanks for the guidance.

      Hello Bob and Jenny. This is how I fixed my mud flaps. I used one of the U shaped clips and machined bolted it through the square hole in the arch
      At the very top of the flap I screwed a stainless steel screw through the wheel arch and smeared black sealer over the fixings. Oh please turn the two bolts around at the bottom of your flap they look better pointing in and easier when cleaning the van. I will try and send you a pic of mine when I work out how to do it. Hi Bob, the plates on my Fiat mudflaps came ready to fit and the small fixings in a bag. This meant that the plates were corect and fitted straight on the van with the nuts on both sides accessable from the outside of the van, I guess yours got turned arround. I also note that the smaller fixings are really badly designed, on old mud flaps the screw would be on the internal hidden edge of the mudguard straight on to metal and a good clamping flat surface on the outer visible side, (it is not possible to fix it that way). I expect the flaps to last a long time so it is better to be slightly harder to fix than look worse. Hope you can understand this Ta.
