Like many, I was in doubt if "that instrument" was a mellophone or a mellophonium and I keep reading people writing that it is actually a "bass trumpet"...except that it doesn't look like one to my eyes. Does anyone _really_ knows what is it (like maker name and so on)? Edit: Ok, I was just pointed (in person, by a friend) to the Schagerl basstrumpet, I am sold...but it really does not look like a bass trumpet...

Based on the two lives performances of these I was at and the versions on here, I'd say no. I think there's just a general flow they were looking for and they all just made up stuff on the stop. The 2nd movement is a bit more 'composed'.
