    HI, Thank you for sharing this bead board idea. Yours turned out great! What size is the piece of plywood you used? I think I will try making one. I think felt or maybe a fun foam sheet for the back. Again, TFS

    It was a joy to watch someone create their own design. I am a crafter but don't have the imagination you have to create. You tube is where I get most of my ideas. Thank you for your ideas.

    I made mine today with the steering wheel cover and a small cookie sheet. Stuffed the steering wheel cover with toy stuffing. And then hot glued it to the top and bottom of the wild colored steering wheel cover. Its fun.i didnt have foam mat but i had some fleece and some black felt. Ok so i put the yellow fleece under the black felt. Yup uhhuh oh yeah. Its awesome. You my dear lady were the inspiration for my bead board. And i am pretty fussy about what i use to craft something i really want or need. I am makin another with a bead mat of foam and the other things, cookie sheet, steering wheel cover etc. I like havin 2 of things i use a lot. So next is my order of beads. Already own some got some coming and more to order

    Very creative Aleisha. I think this is a very good first attempt at making a bead board. One thing you could do to cover up the glue is to trim it with 1/2 in seam binding. Also a product I use in adhering fabric is, Beacon Fabric- Tac. This stuff is amazing it holds fabric together permanently and is waterproof. You need very little of it to get a good hold. I use a cut up credit card to spread the glue evenly. You just need to remember that once you glue it you it isn’t going anywhere so make sure youplace it where you want it the first time. I have an original bead on it board and I love it however, I sometimes like to have more than one project going and would like to have a couple more boards so making them yourself is a great idea. It looks to me that the sides of my board are rolled then tucked under the top fabric then secured on the back and the back cover is glued over that to create a seamless finish. Hope this helps. You have inspired me to try making one myself. The original ones are quite worth the money but when you live on a budget like most of us do it makes sense to create your own. 💞💫

    Aleshia, this turned out great. A few spots of glue on the very edge won’t hurt your beading, and in time, you won’t notice. I’d totally use it. I, too, would love a nice bead board, but not at $50-100+. I, personally, just can’t do that. I made three using bead mat material (Vellux...I bought a twin-size blanket instead of using beading mats) and cheap picture frames, 3 for $3.99 or something like that I found. No extra padding needed. I also just used a small plastic box from the back-to-school supply section and cut some Vellux (could use any material) to fit, used superglue to adhere it...now I have a small travel beading box, enough to take one small project with me.

    I made my own bead board after watching many videos too. However I must tell you, that I also sew. I had many different fabrics. Y hubby sanded a piece of plywood. I also had batting to cover my board. I did purchase beading matts from Amazon. I got 3 different beading matts for under $10.00. These are awesome.

    I certainly do have a lot of stuff I could use to do this! The steering wheel cover is genius!! I think I will try sewing the front side first and hot glue the back since I would be using cardboard instead of plywood (we have plywood, but it's slated for another project.) Since I don't have mailing insulation, I'll be making a stuffed tube out of an old t-shirt and stuffing it with fiberfill from an old pillow. I love to craft my trash!!

    I made a easy bead board by using a picture frame from dollar store. I used the vellum bead fabric for the beading area, reapplied the board that came with frame, flipped it over works great. Oh ya don't use the glass that usually goes on top the picture.not fancy but very functional. Please consider trying this and upgrade it, your so talented I'm sure you with some up with something amazing, like how to cover the back.😁

    Thanks for sharing, I made one and used weather stripping foam (like a small pool noodle that I shaved the bottom a little flatter) and if you put a scrap material on the glue that came out and iron over it, the glue that seeped out will come up because it sticks to the scrap material. Hope that helps.... If you ever want to try again

    Definitely an inspiring video. Got the cogs turning! I've gotten those decorative white boards from Dollar tree that are basically masonite would probably work for this. My local bead store sells the larger bead mats for a buck. I bet I could mount that on a couple pieces of fun foam. The steering wheel cover is GENIUS! I kinda wonder if a pipe sleeve would work, they are smaller, and flexible and have a pre-made slit in it and are fairly cheap. As far as possible backing. What about that non-skid dotted fabric or even the really nice shelf liner? So many ideas! I hate hot glue though. I always got burned no matter how careful.

    I understand perfectionism. I’m one too. I think your board turned out fine. If the glue bothers you just add another level of trim over the glue. Use your board and let us know if you like it. My concern about the black surface is how you will find black seed beads when you want to use them. You are so very creative in the use of materials. 🌹🌷

  • @kittybobblehead
    @kittybobblehead 4 года назад

    I think this turned out pretty darn good and I'm definitely inspired to make my own! I don't think the hot glue showing is too big of a deal as you'll be using it to create jewelry (who will see it? ;) ) and so it doesn't need to be perfect. I also like your version over others I've seen because the way you glue the top down, beads aren't going to find their way into the crevice between the board and the cushion. Thank you for sharing this!!

    Aleisha, I honor and love your creativity! This is a fantastic idea. I have a smaller bead board with the measurements on it, it did not cost much. However, I would love to make another as I usually have more than one project in progress. Couple of suggestions: 1. Some people repurpose the thick Vellux blankets from the thrift store. Many bead mats are made from this. If you can't find more velvet/foam material, the Vellux would be a good stand-in. 2. When you make another one think about placing the wider part of the steering wheel cover to the backside to give you more beading surface on the front side. Great ideas and thank you so much for sharing! 💖🌷💍💎

    I think you did a wonderful job! You could sell yours, too! Thanks so much; I am motivated. I have a piece of flat board out on the porch.

    Oh yeah I'm definitely going to make me one I've been wanting one myself a long time and they are expensive it's ridiculous. I already got the fabric I got everything else and I even have the phone all I need is the board

    Oh, also for the edges I used a foam pipe insulator, they only cost arountv $3 and I think they are 6-8ft long, they are already split open. They look like a pool noodle but much skinnier, so perfect for the edges :)
