    Not sure were you checked in EU for the same prices but i just signed a id4 AWD one (so big battery) with all the best packs for 50k euros all taxes included while last year it was in the range of 63k-65k. The prices are so down that the id4 wasn't even in my short list when i started to check for an electric vehicule. At the same time they didn't do anything for the GTX line which with the same equipment is 72K euros. 22K more for not even a 1 sec diffence on the 0-100km... the pricing strategy doesn't make any sense.

      Thanks for the update, I’ll pin this comment. We still don’t have US pricing. Here's an article talking about the price cuts in Europe. insideevs.com/news/704003/vw-ev-price-cuts-europe/

      Cars are cheaper in the US so i expect the ID 4 to be cheaper than the European version. But also the European version has HUD and DCC.

    Nice video and much appreciated. I don’t know if I should feel upset with myself or pleased that I got a great deal on a 2023 model as I just signed my lease this past Monday on a ID.4 S Pro Plus. It’s a hell of a vehicle and a blast to drive and loaded with creature comforts, and as a long time Audi fan. It’s reminiscent of the performance and ride comfort I’d come to love with my Audi. The lack of ventilated seats was nearly a dealbreaker for me, since I live in the Arizona desert, so I’m kind of bummed that I missed out on that upgrade. I don’t care about the larger screen because what I have is large enough. My rep told me 100% for sure that the horsepower and range of the dual batteries would be upgraded to what we see in your video. Can you confirm that? If that’s the case, I won’t feel too bad because I did get an excellent deal. 🙏

    • @EVeryMile01
      @EVeryMile01  7 месяцев назад +1

      First, thanks for watching and for your kind words. You got a great deal on a great car. Certainly, you would not have gotten the same deal on a '24 in 6 months. I will say if it's any solace that the AC in the car is amazing and amazingly efficient and you can pre-cool it with the app even if it's parked in your garage, which is pretty neat. Unfortunately, no, our '23s will not get the range or horsepower upgrades since they are switching to brand new motors to achieve that improvement. Enjoy your car and know that these cars are really tech devices, and tech moves and changes quickly. Take care!

    • @TheBerkeleybob
      @TheBerkeleybob 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@EVeryMile01 I guess this can be seen as a good news/bad news story. Good news is that I got a great deal - a little over 12k in discounts and tax credits. The rep stated the same regarding the AC and take you both at your word of course. So that’s all good. But the rep apparently misled me if you’re certain the batteries cannot be upgraded via software. That bothers me. But the good news is that I am ok with the range. Dealer gave me the charging station outright so that’s cool. As for HP, also good news in that the car is already a beast with all that instant torque and HP. I call it the beauty and the beast. But hopefully VW can STILL manage to deliver more performance via software to my existing batteries as Tesla has apparently done with theirs. 🙏🏻

    • @EVeryMile01
      @EVeryMile01  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@TheBerkeleybob Absolutely. Tesla has definitely delivered powertrain improvements via updates but I don't have any confidence in VW's software updates. They are just now doing OTA updates on 2021 models meanwhile our '23 which we've had for over a year now, hasn't had any at all.

    • @TheBerkeleybob
      @TheBerkeleybob 7 месяцев назад

      @@EVeryMile01 Ok, and fair point. On a positive note, however, the very fact that VW HAS in fact delivered such updates in the past (albeit at a snails pace) suggests to me that it is possible and within their wheelhouse to effect such updates. That would be awesome and I can wait - even if it’s as long as six months to a year. 🙏🏻

    • @Born2winalways
      @Born2winalways 7 месяцев назад +1

      Waiting for the latest updates or 2024 model will cost you and also cost customers on the unexpected bugs which come with newer models. The 2023 model is an excellent car and lets you enjoy the experience now. The compromise is worth it and these deals only come beginning of the year

  • @kevinn1158

    Even more interesting than the rear motor going from 201 to 280HP is that the torque increased from something like 220lbft to ~400. That puts the new RWD motor at more torque than the old AWD front/rear combined torque.
    It gets a little tricky to compare when they're different style motors and geared to different rpms so the actual absolute peak torque might not add, but 400 > 300 > 220 for sure.
    My understanding is that the front motor in the AWD stays the same, so that won't get a bump, but the rear motor torque bump is so high that both the RWD and AWD 2024s should feel exceptionally snappy from 5-30mph.
    Above 40, HP is probably going to be the more relevant metric and it will perform like any 5000 pound electric powered vehicle with about 330HP.

    I think it makes sense to get the 2024 model. Yes, the 2023 models will be much cheaper but they can't be upgraded to 4.0 software versions. Also, the power and range increase is a very good addition. The bigger infotainment screen and also the illuminated buttons are very good. I wish they changed the windscreen buttons to 4 instead of 2 but I guess they don't want to admit their fault on that.

    Prices won't go up, I think they will go down because of Tesla vs BYD prices war and batteries produced in China are getting cheaper and cheaper. At the beginning of 2023 1kwh of battery cost was $150, right now it's $50 and it's possible it will go down to $20 next year, because of elements used are cheaper than ever, especially lithium.

      @Anderus14 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@EVeryMile01Looking at the market they are very determined to overcome Tesla in China itself and they might succeed because they are getting government subsidies which let them operate below profit margin where Tesla is close to the limit of it. In Europe Chinese brands are 2-3x more expensive than in China(thanks to harsh taxation), it makes more difficult to compete with manufacturers like Stellantis, VAG or BMW group because they could flood the market with cheap and high quality cars. Right now Chinese manufacturers are the best in technology (except for Tesla) but overall quality of cars is lacking in case of C-segment and below.

The future is BEV but since they got rid of Diess, it seems like trying to straddle ICE and BEV. I understand their profit center is ICE but they are going to have innovate much quicker than they have historically, if they are going to survive long-term. The same could also be said for other traditional OEMs as well. Thanks for watching AND for your insight!!

    • @Anderus14
      @Anderus14 7 месяцев назад

      @@EVeryMile01I agree, EU is forcing ICE production to stop and transform into BEV because they see if they won't do anything it will backfire and kill all European manufacturers especially VAG (automotive is responsible for 25% of German economy) by Chinese cars expansion. VAG until 2 years ago were really sceptical about EV development but still they did create ID line which to be honest were really bad comparing to other manufacturers not even mentioning Tesla.
