Thanks for being here. 🥰 im sorry for the microphone being near my hair in this one I’m really enjoying what I’ve been reading in June ~ a mix of new releases, some contemporary authors and then, more recently, some backlisted authors. Yes! My sweet spot. A mix of it all.

I absolutely adored It Lasts Forever and Then It's Over! I read the e-book version and loved it so much that I had to go out and buy a physical copy. I hope you enjoy it too!

I like 'Room with a View' as much as 'Howards End' - equally, in their different way. I'm due for a re-read of 'A Passage to India' which I also liked. You're selling the 'Dud Avocado'. I now want to read it.

finding a good travel book is hard!! i end up bringing more books than i could possibly read but u never know what kind of mood you are going to be in!
Yes! Exactly. Do you also travel with an e reader? I tried once and it was alright. I returned it afterwards. But I do have a Kindle app on my phone just in case!
@@thelefthandedreader6632 yes i do!! i find it helpful to put a genre fiction on my kindle so that i have the option for something really low lift

I had to get a book for my bookclub and I picked up “The Dud Avocado” while I was at it! That part you read makes it seem so enticing, I’ll try to get to it soon!

Hi, Renee, I just had to tell you about My Dark Vanessa by Kate Russell. The novel Lolita plays a prominent part in that book. It's quite a well-written, compassionate and provocative take on current issues. I was glued!

Hi Renee!!! I read The Dud Avocado a few years back and remember embarrassingly little about it....but that's standard for most of my reads, oops! I'm currently reading lots of fluffy summertime things, which is something I've never done before. I'm reading Beach Read by the ever popular Emily Henry and actually really enjoying it 🙂Have a great Holiday weekend!

The Dud Avocado was the first NYRB i bought and i still haven't read it! it sounds so summery, i'll need to get to it soon. thank you for reminding me of it!
Really? It’s one of the first ones I bought too! During a sale, I think I bought about 5. One was Stoner by John Williams. Oh how I love that book.
I love Anita Brookner. I have all her books. Started with Hotel du Lac and kept going!!!

Oh, you're in for a treat with Picnic at Hanging Rock. It's a wonderfully ethereal and ultimately inexplicable nightmare-mystery with a real sense of something inarticulable. Also, I don't know if you're much of a movie person, but Peter Weir's adaption is one of the few cases where the film is even better than the book.

You really like that Dundy book. I wonder if you see yourself in the protagonist! I just finished "Sapiens" and now I'm working on "Maniac" which is a novelization of the life of mathematician John von Neumann. Sapiens was pretty good once you adjusted for the author's somewhat misanthropic agenda...
Maniac sounds fascinating. It’s funny about Sally Jay from The Dud Avocado. I’m living a thrilling youth through her for sure!
