I didn’t mind Giovanni’s Room too. I love slow reading like you mentioned. At the moment, I’m LOVING East of Eden which I look forward to reading every night. I don’t want it to end. You’ve got a great library haul there so happy reading. The Argonauts is one that I’ll look out for too. Thanks for the recommendations!
@@thelefthandedreader6632 I can’t put it down. You should see all the post-it notes and tabs I have in it. It’s wonderful. I gasp out loud in parts. It’s shaping to be one of the best books I’ve read this year and one of my best books of all time. Steinbeck is a true storyteller.
Thank you for the reminder of Maggie Nelson’s The Argonauts. I’m putting that back on my TBR. I’m currently reading Leonard and Hungry Paul on your recommendation and adoring it so far 😊Nice to see you, and congrats on your son getting the apartment ❤❤Have a great week!!!
Years ago, I made a video about the benefits of reading slower and then proceeded to forget all I said. I really must get back into the habit because it can lead to a deeper appreciation of all that the author is saying. Most pleased to hear how you're getting on with these books, and I must read some more Baldwin and Brookner in future.
I also love your library hauls! You’ve convinced me to check out Practice. I love it when a book you feel unsure or meh about ends up being engaging and enthralling!
ahhh so glad you got along so well with the Baldwin! i’m overdue for a reread of it. also, i love the library holds! it reminds me of how important it is to borrow from institutions that are the founding parts of us as a society ! 📚✨🐛
Thanks, Kiran. I’ve missed them. Or I didn’t know I was until I did one! I really enjoy your vlog content for the same reason. Relaxed, a different setting. Out in the wild. 🥰
Hi Renee. I just found your channel. Wow! A kindred spirit who isn’t afraid to put books on hold at the library. Why do they all come in at the same time? I will look for some of your titles today. Thanks from Canada.
I just started Near to the Wild Heart by Lispector 🤩 I love your library hauls too. I also borrow way more than i could possibly read but who knows what my mood will be when i get them?! I loved your phrase "casting a wide net"
@@thelefthandedreader6632 really enjoying it so far! It definitely requires full attention and I think will be best over multiple reads. But it's short and the chapters are small. I feel in the mood to linger anyways ✨
When you decide not to finish something from a haul, do you return it right away? I sometimes feel guilty keeping more than one or two things out at a time!
Interesting hold group- “there is no Ethan” sounds most like I might enjoy, only because I have read on-line lately about, woman who are scammed. Amazes me and seems like lonely woman that are taken in and scammed, but wont believe their families/friends that it he isn’t real.!!!!!!!!- great your son has a place and will take a weight off your minds - with everything coming up shortly - ❤ the Olympics are absorbing my time and I did just finish reading “Prophet Song” (2023 Booker Prize - ) Powerful book, Irish - brought 1984 to mind. 😅

Are you loving East of Eden? I didn’t know whether I’d like the style of writing?

Thanks, Patti! Oh isn’t that book just a delight?
love your approach to using the library!! i get overwhelmed when i have too many holds come in at once so i’m trying to get better about timing them 😂
I know what you mean! I’ve given up the timing part! 😂
ooh, interested in practice now! thank you for introducing it to me :)
Of course! I’m still reading it….so slowly. I wonder whether the tone will last….🥰

I’m guilty of this too! It’s very rare that I can slow read, so I’m happy that these 2 books were so wonderful, it was a delight!

Thank you! Don’t you love when that happens?

Isn’t that the truth! Oh, Baldwin. This one will be in my top favorite reads this year.
@@thelefthandedreader6632so good to hear!!! Just the way the language flows, it’s pure music. Like jazz
i love when you do the library car hauls!!!!

Hi, Adrienne! I’m so glad you’re here! A fellow library lover!
I’m glad you loved “Giovanni’s Room!” And I’m definitely going to check out “Practice,” the excerpts you read were fascinating
Thanks for your feedback on it. It delivered! This one may be right up your alley, Catherine.

How’s that one going? Oooh I know. Right now, I have 8 holds to pick up today. 😬And after that, it calms down.😂

Library hauls are back! 😭
So cute. 🥰

I do wait until I go back to the library. The upside being I’m usually there once a week!
I would love to hear your thoughts on Practice! I’m considering reading it but I just simply do not know if it’s worth it.
You’ll hear more about if for sure in my next post. I’m continuing to really enjoy it!
