Yes this is accurate , I worked there for about 6 months and could not handle the arrogance of management and the crazy dishonesty. They tried to make people memorize a sales pitch like it was their cults bible. I am happy to say that I left and am now doing better than ever!!, with an honest company. Not roofing

@@starastronomer I’m sure they sell enough across the country to still be in business but not enough to be successful as a rep. They talk a real big game when you are onboarding but it’s all bs. I’m not some new kid. I have been in sales my whole life ,so I moved on to another company in the home improvement business and I’m doing really well. Unfortunately their are a lot of people that can get taken advantage of out there but that’s not the way I have had success and it never will be.

WOW!!!! I have a friend who wanted a new roof put on his home before he retired. He contacted Erie and got a price for a metal roof. This friend really wanted to put a metal roof on the home and had told me it would help raise his home value when he went to sell it and move into a retirement community in the next 8-10 years. He got his quote and was shocked. For a 2800sq ft roof, Erie wanted $49,270,65.. He got a local company to put on a shingle roof for $7,873.00 and said it has a 25-year warranty. Shop around people!

I had applied to this company before I knew about the product. There business practices go against my moral code and I let the recruiter know ow that once they told me that the average sale was $100,000. I, myself, found a local roofer who offered to do my roof (with shingles) for $7k. There is absolutely NOTHING anyone could tell me that would convince me that a roof is worth 12 times the amount of a traditional roof. I could by a rental house for that price that would generate passive income. Then he added all the discounts and got it down to $63,349 on 4/6/2024. They do try to get you to lock something in on that day. He also explained that waiting to lock it in, you can figure an inflation hike on the price. If I waited till January, it could be 20k more. I was only guarantied that price till Monday and today is Saturday. The product and everything they offer is of good quality. I am definitely not saying anything negative about the product. He also guaranteed a lifetime warranty. Stated the roof would out last the house. I am definitely going to shop around though.

Frank m I used a local company. I would highly recommend you get lots of estimates. I got 13. Make sure they are all giving you a price for the exact same shingle. I then took the lowest price. If they are giving you the same product then the higher estimates are just making more money off of you. I stayed home everyday they worked on the roof and kept an eye on everything. Having been a carpenter and having done roofs I knew what to look for and they knew that. I'm too old to be doing that anymore. Take before pictures of your homes exterior prior to the work being done so you can document if the roofers do any damage to your home. Pays to be on top of things.

I am shocked about how much people pay for roof replacement (especially in areas of the country where it is cheaper to live). I live in an expensive area of the country, often I cannot get service people to do small jobs (including snow plowing of driveway, no matter how much money I offer). But when I got an estimate for a full roof replacment (including wood) for a 3 bedroom house (1 Level house for living space, but full attic/ basement). The cost was $5700 (this was 6 years ago). The roof has really held up during major rain/wind storms. I just had to contact multiple roofing companies and get quotes (the highest quote was $9000). Please get at least 4 or 5 quotes and do your research (read online reviews before hiring a roofing company). But don't not go with a roofing company just because a few bad reveiews either (sometimes competitors put down fake bad reveiews, or some companies hire companies in Asia to put down fake positive reviews, just use commen sense when reading online reviews is what I am saying, read the actually reviews carefully, look for patterns/dates and location/name of the reviewers).

@@JamesSmith-fi5sn You can buy the same materials, yes everything, from a contractor supply store for about 200-250 SQ tops. The metal is from Boral steel which you can also buy online yourself for 400-500 SQ. Erie does not make anything themselves. Everything they use is made by other companies. IKO dynasty is the shingle they use. It is a good shingle but the mark-up is crazy because they company has to pay for the corporate structure that allows store managers to make 300,000+ a year and their bosses to make way more than that. Most sales guys that come talk to you are making at least 140,000 per year, tops sales reps and ASM's are making 200,000 plus per year. Even a guy that sells one roof per week will make about 90,000 to 120,000 per year. If you can handle 15-17 hour days, actually pretty easy work, and spend 300 per week on just gas you can be a rep there too.

However, let's put this in perspective. A 26 gauge metal roof Materials costs around $450 a square, whereas Corning shingles cost $91 a square. With blending the two together, I could see a potential material cost of $525. So that's $2500 for 28 squares of shingles and $14,700 for 28 squares of metal shingles. Then, $10,000 for labor, so $12,500 for the shingle roof and $24,700 for the metal roof should be the cost. Anything more than that, and I feel like you are being taken to the cleaners! And then drop that by 20% if you find a desperate roofer.

I could replace my 30 year shingles 5 times for that cost. That would be 150 years worth of roofing. Since no one lives to be anywhere near that old, you will never see any type of savings from that kinda pricing. And thats IF the metal roof they install will last 150 years. Bad return on investment.

Just wanted to put going rate numbers out there . Pending where you live in the US, it can be as low as $6-$7 per sq ft. Also depends on pitch, hips/valleys, skylights/penetrations which increases labor price. I wasn’t shocked with your quote . To put shingles on your roof with your dimensions would be roughly $15-$17k. I do think metal is overpriced though

Well my measurement was only 4.5Squares and back in 2020 the quote was 45k for me and no metal discount was offered but they were offering certain houses to possibly be given a free roof for their portfolio work. I remind you it's not a steep roof on a rancher home. 2 valleys is all on an addition of about 198²ft of space. I walk on it a lot since I install roofs professionally and Seamless gutters. So my measurements are accurate. But if your saying you are quoted 59k at 27.5 Square and discounted to 49k than how in the heck was I quoted 45k! The guy walked on my roof and started the hyper Shingle stretch test and peeled it completely back and leaned back and said that the Shingle was no good. I said.... how come it didn't break in to with your 250lb #$% leaning and stretching my Shingle back to show me you can pull my Shingle up after your crow barred it off the seal? Mind you that I am a roofer 20 yrs and he didn't even know what life is being he was only 24yrs old and fresh out of college. Mind you that he never lifted a tool till than. And so when he slid me the paper and said 45k I immediately said why would I and he said it's a no hassle price! I said for one you don't stretch shingles on a property the way you did. First if I get a leak it's your fault. Second if I was at 4.5 square than I could find a contractor at 450-250 a square. Lastly I said I could do it myself for $300 bucks and my left over materials in my shed and he said no way. Till today my crew can get it done for $500 for me as I would pay my crew their time and wage to get it done paying each crew $88/square. Why would I over improve for materials guaranteed to 50 years? His quote was 140yr lifetime warranty. Did he not know I read everything before he arrived? I'm at $10,000 per square installation...I COULD MAKE MY OWN METAL SHINGLE ROOF.... BUT WITH THEIR FAKE AIR GAP FOIL WRAP TOPPED IT ALL! WHY WOULD THE SUN REFLECT OFF THE WRAP WHEN IT WOULD HAVE AN AIR GAP BETWEEN EACH OF THE SHINGLES AND ACT AS THE AIR GAP INSULATOR? LIES AND MORE LIES. I WOULDNT PAY FOR THIS MATERIAL AND I WOULDNT CARE FOR A RUSTING SHINGLE WHEN I MYSELF A. STUDYING ALUMINUM ROOF TILES. LET ALONE I WOULD PAY $10000 A SQUARE FOR A STAINLESS STEEL STANDING ROOF. I got a quote back in 2019 as well. The first thing that drove me crazy was the 15 minute PowerPoint and then a long sales pitch which was mostly saying how bad other roofing material and companies are. I don't react well to negativity. Then they tried to convince me I had multiple layers on the roof though they never went on the roof, but I have been on the roof and knew I didn't. Then I asked for the price and it was 70k. I literally laughed at him, put out my hand to shake his and told him to have a nice day. He said wait!!! It is only 50k if you sign a contract today... I laughed again and he was very irritated as he grabbed his things and left. Just had the roof done using high end 50 year asphalt(yeah, I only expect half that). But even with the current inflation it was under 14k. There was another company that sold similar roofing to erie that I got a quote from last year out of curiosity, and they were 60k. Funny thing was this other company stated they outsource all their labor and they had itemized roof removal of 20k. When I asked him for more itemization on the estimate so I could think it over because the price made no sense to me he said he wasn't going to waste his time since I wasn't happy with the price. I have a suspicion that erie and others like them is kinda like the old pyramid scheme where people can buy into their company and then they sell but having others do their work. I will check the comments to see of anything supports this or contradicts my theory.
