Thank you for this post. I've booked a solo cruise on Ventura and while I've seen some videos, none were from a fellow American. VacationsToGo gave me what I felt was a good price with a single supplement that was amazingly not double. I did buy the insurance they offered, so I assume it will be acceptable. One nice thing is that I'm covered for the week before the cruise as well as the cruise itself. Was already planning to go to the Indian specialty restaurant, but will consider your advice about trying the others.
