Great video, very informative! We're used to ocean cruises, but we're looking for our first European river cruise. I was a little intimidated, not knowing what to expect. This is the first video I watch and I'm now reassured, thanks 😊
We are planning a Christmas Market Cruise with Viking next year, do you have brands of grippy waterproof winter boots to recommend? Or would waterproof tennis shoes suffice? Just want to make sure I'm prepared to not slip and have dry feet! I appreciate all the other tips in the video.
We are big fans of waterproof trail running shoes. They are flexible and comfortable in rain and snow. They are casual looking but versatile. Here is an example for women. amzn.to/4eKPgjg For women brands that we like are La canadienne for a dressier look. Expensive but last forever. For men we like hoka or brooks waterproof trail sneakers. Dressier waterproof for men cold haan for sure amzn.to/3UdqtMp
I keep seeing the husband in Navy Seal Museum and other military logoed items. My dad was a plank owner of Seal Team 2 back in the late 60's/early 70's. I don't think your husband is old enough to have known him. But it did catch my eye...
It is more that you become a target traveling to an unfamiliar area, to tourist sites, especially walking around in a large group with a red lollipop in the air. All of these things make travelers a target. Of course there are pickpocketers in the US.
Question: I am trying to get my mother to take a Viking Cruise ship but she does use a cane and is worried it will be to hard with all the stairs . Is that true? btw you guys are so cute!
We had lots of folks on our cruise with canes and the other passengers are really great at assisting and waiting. On some excursions the guides were excellent at indicating the routes that would be easier on mobility challenged. Most excursions move at a slow pace and while we don’t know the limits your mother may have, most did fine.
My wife and I, together with her sister and brother in law are planning our first Viking River Cruise for next Sept-Oct 2025. We are Canadians and wondering whether a Veranda Stateroom with the small deck is worth the extra $8200 CAD per couple vs a Standard room? We don't plan on spending much time in our rooms but if there is limited seating on the upper deck or limited times of day it can be used, perhaps having our own veranda is worth it? Your thoughts?
For our itinerary, the Grand European Tour, we had a standard room and found the savings of almost $5000 pp completely worth it. Downsides to a standard room are one flight of stairs to get down to the lower deck, water noise during the night (not bothersome to us at all), not much view. To get a veranda can be nice if the weather is good, but on our cruise we were rafted to other boats in port, and LOTS of locks that are slow travel and no view. We generally spend time on deck and there was never a problem finding somewhere to sit on board even if the top deck was closed due to low bridge clearances. There is never limited seating on the top deck if it is open. Hope this helps and let us know what you decide!
Thank you so much for your videos! We are taking a Viking river cruise in November, and I have watched all your videos in preparation.
Have fun!
Which one are you taking?
These are great tips, I always carry comfortable sneakers for day trips as well.
Totally agree!
Thanks for the video! Regulars on ocean cruises but seriously thinking of a river cruise. 🤔
Go for it! It's a totally different experience.
Great tips!!!
Glad it was helpful!

Thank you for your kind words. River cruises and Ocean cruises are totally different. You will really enjoy the immersive experience.
First- very expensive price with vikings 😂

Hubby was not a SEAL but we support military charities extensively. What an honor to know your dad was a founding crew of such a historic group!
No pickpaketing in usa?

Really liked the magnetic hook tip!
They are great!

8200?😢 just Savings? How much is all cruise?😮
We loved the abbey at Melk. It’s a shame you had to split your time there shopping for glasses.
Even so, it is a cute town to search for glasses! We had been to the abbey before so it wasn’t a huge loss. Thanks!
They saved money 😂
Use waterproof shoese! They will not get Wet
Yes we have a few pair. Great suggestion!
I don't consider yoga pants good for anything but yoga.
Yes we can see that l, but they were pretty common on board. What do you prefer for a casual day or to fly?
But....They look GREAT.
@@LuxuryTravelDocsof course common- viking cruise- there are Americans most 😂
