Ben is exactly right, in the area I grew up we had a saying "You get what you pay for" Sordid folks think nothing of it, mentally of I paid for this and I will get all I can. Selfness and greed....😢
Hey guys, you should go on the P&O Australia one I would like to know your honest opinion on that cruise line myself. I’ve been on it three times it’s not bad
Guys - I am devastated that you were subjected to homophobic comments, and the way Gareth Gates was treated is also shocking. Your reviews are so fair and balanced and were the reason I gave in to accompany my best friend on a cruise. We now wouldn’t consider any other type of holiday. Sunday evenings are set aside for your vlogs. Keep up the awesome work!
The Brits at their best.... scum, think how these folks raise their kids... Totally agree with Ben&David its down to the cheap prices, same has happened with airlines and Center Parcs in UK, been going with family since they opened in 1987, and in last 10 years, boy, has the crowd changed... Us Brits - well some of us, seem to revel in being 'Karens', and care a toss for surrounding travellers - no filter, no manners, no education. The same folk who attack the ambulance and fire fighters we see in the news and on tv - scum. Raising their offspring to do the same.
Yeah, it was a real buzz kill. Poor guys, it's sad anyone has to deal with that crap this day and age. Honestly the amount of people thrown off that ship it kinda sounded like a shit show.
I don't know you two personally but I'd be proud to be your mother or fun Auntie. I was a young woman in the 80s with a new, scary job and no friends as I relocated. Someone introduced me to the LGBTQ community and those dear friends watched out for me, they showed me how to have fun, looked after me when I was sick, recommended restaurants and hair dressers. We always had a good time and I felt very much loved by new friends. As I look back on those days they truly were the happiest I've ever been.
There wasn't a TQ in the 80's cos T for trans is not a sexual orientation and Q for queer is a derogatory abusive slur now and was even more horrendous in the 80's. People in the 80's had to fight to be accepted and had to contend with section 28. It was LGB when Stonewall first set up to fight for gay rights. Now they have abandoned the LGB community and only support trans. LGB Alliance is the only organisation truly representing same sex attracted men and women. It's appalling that in 2024 Ben and David should be subjected to homophobia. Thanks to you both for your video reviews. You're two genuine amazing guys ❤
I'm glad you stayed professional and carried on despite the inconsiderate people. I had my struggles growing up, and my mama told me something that I have found to still be true even though I'm 60 years old now. People who pick at you or use derogatory terms towards you are so miserable in their own unsatisfactory lives until they have to strike out at those who are living a fulfilling life despite the differences or challenges the face. That helped me get through many situations, especially racism. Keep it in mind when these things happen.
I'm sorry that you've dealt with racism. It's one thing that is so unnecessary and pointless. I think Blacks are some of the most beautiful people on Earth, inside and out. As a 66 yr old White lady, I too, have felt the scourge of racism. I've experienced Black women being rude to me for no obvious reason other than I'm White. It makes me feel sorry for them, though. Harboring ill feelings against those you don't even know is not good for anyones heart and soul, and it shows very quickly as to what kind of human being you really are. Be of good cheer, at least until someone gives you reason reason not to. Then, simply ignore them and move on. Class dismissed. There will be a test 🤗 ❤
There is nothing better than a transatlantic cruise. When you go from East to West you get all those "25-hour" days with the time different time zones.
Haters gonna hate…shake it off. Some people are just hateful and miserable. Very sorry mean people attacked you guys because you both are very nice and kind.
Having no music outdoors just sounds like paradise. I like to relax, read my book and listen to nothing but the ocean. If I was on the cruise where the lounge-reservation thing was as bad as that, then I'd just chuck the towel off one and tell anyone that came along that no, this one was empty when I got here.
Dear Ben & David , I have discovered you both today while I am resting after cancer treatments. I really love cruising with you and laughing at your humor. It's a good escape . It doesn't sound that easy to film etc. So thank you & take care ❤
We love you guys. My wife and I really enjoy watching your videos. I especially love the way you always express gratitude about being able to experience this lifestyle and recognize that many people in the world cannot. You are well anchored, Ben and David.
I don’t know if it still happens, but on Cunard Queen Victoria, there was an official rule that if the sunbed was vacant for 35mins, belongs would be removed and the bed classed as vacant! I think it was printed on a card.
I think it's fine to have the final sentiment as "It's not for us, but that doesn't mean it's not good for other people"! I've noticed having watched your content over the years that P&O just doesn't seem to tick the boxes you guys want on a cruise, but that's OK! You still had plenty of positives to say: particularly about the affordability and quality of the specialty dining restaurants, which I also agree with having cruised w/ P&O twice. I'm really shocked at some of the behavioural examples at the end you shared -- but anyone throwing slurs at you both can get in the bin! 😤
Ben and David, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience on this voyage. Please be comforted in the knowledge that your loyal viewers(like me 😊)care and have genuine admiration for you both❣️
To those that chose to be homophobic to you two.. I am a gay man myself.. and I stand with you proudly. Had I been there I think I would have told them exactly were to go.. along with a few ugly words of my own! I will not stand for bully-like behavior! Keep doing what your doing guys.. Love your channel and I get to live vicariously through you.. Have always wanted to take a cruise! and I love your channel even more cause your British.. I am Canadian so your like my cousins from across the big pond!
These folks are low life. best to let them go on their way.. Starting an issue, due to a few morons is NOT the answer. Even here in "liberal" NYC we still get these types of comments on the streets a lot! Most of the time it's when these morons are in groups. let it go and enjoy the rest of your day.
I will admit that I dread running across vloggers. The notion that I could show up on RUclips without my consent is worrisome. I'm pleased that you two respect other cruisers' privacy when creating your videos. Not everyone does.
@@lxp I go on vacation to go on vacation. I don't go on vacation to photograph, video, create content for a commercial enterprise or be part of others that do those things. I appreciate that it is a hard thing for staff to control but, if it isn't, I fear some people will take matters into their own hands.
Who's to say who can film and who can't? What about people who're filming every thing they're seeing & doing aboard the ship on their phone? You can't say it's fine for some people but not others. The price of admission for being in public is you can't control which image of yours someone might capture when you're in public.
@@isabellind1292 First of all, a business-owned cruise ship is not a public space. Just like a restaurant or cinema isn't. They are private spaces often owned by businesses and the owners and their staff can decide to ban certain behavior if others complain about it. Second, different countries have different rules and laws. In many parts of the EU, it is forbidden to film other people without their consent (and also post it online of course), even in public spaces. The moment you can be identified and that person did not ask for consent to film and post it, you can be sued. Privacy is a big factor for many because they are sick of being filmed all the time. And the same argument could be put in reverse. Who gives you a right to film others without their consent? Being in public doesn't mean you are free to do as you please either. Everyone has a right to be there and not be bothered by others. It's why I appreciate it when vloggers are respectful, even if the place allows filming. That means not to put the focus on any stranger and maybe cut out footage that is obviously unflattering for a stranger. I would really recommend to read up on rules and laws before going anywhere. If you ever visit an EU country, you might quickly get into trouble if someone catches you recording them. Same with spaces that are not public but have rules against filming and recording other people. It also should be a no-brainer that private videos are not nearly as bad as posting something online. There is a huge difference if a small family sees the footage vs 400k people. I wouldn't want either but it still makes a difference. The internet never forgets and some things might get that person in trouble as well. Once again, a cruise ship isn't a public space. Meaning if many people report you, the crew can decide on behalf of the owner to ban you from doing so.
@@Merilly Who said anything about filming anyone w/o their consent? Who goes around filming who has to ask everyone who may be in the shot, permission? That's just ridiculous. Please cite me anywhere it says people are not permitted to film anything they like on a cruise ship. Thank you.
Glad I watched this. We are American and my husband asked if we should check out P&O. Now we won’t. The rowdy behavior and rudeness is NOT our idea of fun. I’m very sorry you were harassed. Also, I agree about the sterility. It did look very airport-like.
Same. I had an idea that P&O might be a Cunard-ish experience…a little more formal, maybe a break from the relentlessness of Americans. But no. This doesn’t sound like a break from anything.
Hi Guys. Thanks for the video. After that Margarita vile cruise from a couple months ago, I thanked you for taking one for the team. After this one, I am wishing you wouldn’t have had to have gone on this one. It only takes one Ass to really ruin the whole trip. It’s unfortunate that those rude people can have such an impact on you. It’s easier said than done to ignore the sort of behavior you talked about. I’m glad that the line chucked some of the people when you got to port. It’s unfortunate the captain doesn’t have the legal ability to set them adrift while you’re still at sea (i think I’m just joking….🤔) Hope you have a great Christmas and holiday time! You’ve become a part of our family with your weekly Sunday visits, so please know there are more people who think you are pretty wonderful than the few jerks you run into.
I just love watching you and David on your wonderful cruise advantures. I do not know either one of of you personally, but it just hurts my heart to know that people would be so unkind to the two of you!! My husband and I are not able to travel as we take care of his aging parents, so we live vicariously through your entertaining and informative videos!! We look at each other and say "One Day"!! Hopefully, done day, we will be luck enough to meet, but until then, chin chin and happy crusing. 🥰
Am so so sorry to hear that you had to experience this abuse. And the David Bowie comments were totally unacceptable both of these are something that you should have had to endure. It makes me so so upset to think that grown adults have less manners and respect than a 5 year old. Bullying and harassment have no place in our society. Thank you for a true and genuine review of your holiday. I’ve really enjoyed your series and will definitely continue to watch the rest of the uploads on your channel ❤️Thank you for sharing this with us all xxx 😘 xxxx
My sympathies for you both for having to deal with those awful chavs. But you must know how much the majority of cruise fans love you! I never miss your videos. So, ignore the noise from the haters and keep the reviews coming. And I even like Ben’s “rubbish” jokes 😊😊😊
Just watched one of your videos yesterday. First time and I am hooked! Your personalities make this channel. I find myself just smiling. I personally hate cruises as I do not like crowds or standing in line or sharing water in pools, hot tubs or sitting in someone’s sweat or having to talk loudly over the music from wherever in comes from. After writing that, I watch because of the two of you (in the comforts of home)! I like peace and quiet and dogs! ❤
I'm crying! Ben, I just finished watching you explain the abuse on the ship & my stomach just dropped. Especially when you explained what happened to you & David. I applaud you for being so brave & calm to share what you two endured. I'm so incredibly sorry that happened to you two 😢. Sending lots of hugs! Thank you for another fun & LOVELY review!!!! We are going to "TREAT" ourselves to a RCL cruise first week in February!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I've never been on a cruise yet, but am learning everything I need to know from you two ! I'm sure I'll be very prepared when I finally go ! Thanks for all your information and witty comments. 😊❤️
That huge window in the middle of the ship is so incredibly awesome! Sorry for the abuse on the ship as well...does not seem like a cruise I'd want to go on. If I want to go on a rowdy cruise with fights and other craziness, I could take a 3 day carnival cruise.
Was on same cruise, my first, lost my wife 6 months earlier so was a little apprehensive on my own , loved it and booking it again this year with a friend who has also lost his wife. Cruise was enjoyed more than destinations very friendly fellow passengers and was invited to dinner and shows quite often which I always accepted ( I made it known that the loss of my wife was still very raw ) it was lovely
Isn’t it sad that a few people can make what should be a wonderful vacation into a unpleasant experience. I am so sorry you experienced rude comments from fellow passengers…we love and appreciate you both. People can be such jerks 👿
One of the hardest conversations I’ve ever had was with my sister about the comments and treatment she’s experienced being gay. Mind you we are middle age so she’s had a lot of life experiences living as a gay woman married to a woman. I think the most shocking thing was how bigots go out of their way to say hateful and hurtful things. My sister is my best friend and one of the best humans I know. I noticed there were a lot of older folks on board and from the the comments and title I was concerned they were the ones being stupid but bigots come in every shape, size, gender and age. In 2024 people are still racist and bigots. You both are lovely and have impeccable manners. I appreciate the time you put into your videos and the honesty. Stay safe. 🥰
My wife and I were on the same cruise and LOVED IT!!! We actually saw you two filming around the ship Funny how people will watch your RUclips videos for ideas about different cruises but then go out of there way to abuse you “some sad people”, Carry on doing what your doing as your both good at it 👍 Like you said not everyone likes the same things. What I liked was the amount of time I spent with my wife, 9 sea days with no phone or internet or being tide to a time schedule We just did what we wanted when wanted it was great. Meet lots of nice people “also met a few not so nice people”, but overall I’d say 99% of people on board were great. Thanks for posting the video and for actually being honest as well 👍👍 Have a great Christmas 👍🎅🎅
I'm so disappointed to hear that you and others were bullied. There is simply no call for mistreating people in this day and age. Glad to hear the ship took action to chuck people off who were conducting themselves poorly. Looking forward to next week's episode!
Hello Cruisers. Following since C…vid. Thank you for letting people know that Carnival is not the only line where fights break out. I love your vibe. I’m sorry for encounters with unruly people, but I think you guys try to make the best out of all your travels. Trust you, Houston, Texas🎉
Ben, you're right. We are not all the same, but sometimes you and David have made me look at things in a different way. For instance, your river cruise at Christmas time. I've never considered a river cruise. You presented the experience with such innocent wonder, it seemed magical. I hope some day I meet you both on a cruise.
I was telling my brother about that river cruise. He has always wanted to go on a cruise, but his wife does not. Since he saw that river cruise, they are talking about going on one. I'm not sure if I ever remember seeing one. Hope they go. Kathleen
You're so professional. What a polite way of saying that the ship was basic af. 😆 Re getting bashed - I'm sorry, it doesn't matter how many times it has happened, it is always disconcerting to hear a slur, part of that is not knowing if folks are unhinged and if words will turn into violence. You are such excellent cruise vloggers and I also appreciate your chemistry - you're a very cute couple!! ❤
I have finally sussed the best ways to watch your videos. I prepare my dinner and then watch it whilst I'm eating. Its a bit like joining you both for dinner and stops me getting very hungry watching you eat all that grub. Enjoyed your video as always and I appreciate your candour. I'm a celebrity kind of guy and I don't think I will be jumping ship any time soon.
I was on the same cruise as you and did see you around. Didn't want to disturb you as you were filming but so sorry about the behaviour of others.I have to agree with you . I've been on Arvia once before and this time some of the people were awful. Heard lots of different stories about punch ups and lairy behaviour and some of the people were truly angry nasty and rough. Such a shame as it is a great ship and the destination was amazing.
Let’s hope that the mean people you ran into come to their senses and remember their manners that they were taught. Keep your head up and continue to be happy, you both are quite lovely people and it’s nice to be part of your cruise eirld
On carnival cruises in australia if there is a ‘saved’ deck chair that no one goes back to in 45 minutes the crew will go over, take the stuff off and put behind the towel counter. The crew do an amazing job of keeping track of this themselves but they don’t mind if passengers who have been keeping track and waiting go over and ask them about particular ones (only they move the belongings though) Works brilliantly and plenty of sign around so passengers can’t argue
It’s so puzzling to me how people can go out of their way to be cruel to someone else, when literally doing nothing takes so little effort. 😒 Don’t let bigotry get you down; those people are sad, hateful losers. We love you! 🥰
We are gay couple looking to go on our first cruise, and I'm happy you are giving the honest facts about what happened to you on this trip (and all of your trips), I know I will be keeping clear of P&O now after your experience. People will say 'oh just ignore them', but as someone who has experienced similar on holiday it really gets you down and ruins what is supposed to be a relaxing time. I'm sorry this happened to you
I just red your comment and I would like to reach out and let you know that I appreciate all gay people you make life more fun and interesting. And I would prefer to travel with gay people all are friendly intelligent and hygienic. I don’t mean to stereotype or be offensive. Don’t be afraid to travel hold your head up high because I would rather share my hoilday with any gay person rather then some smelly filthy Falmouth alcoholic belligerent drunk. Enjoy your first cruise I have never cruised before would love to in the near future sending you love and lots of good wishes when you eventually decide to take a cruise.❤😊
If I were you looking at Princess Cruise Line is a good and much better choice. They do various transatlantics. They have meetings and the cosmopolitan mix of passenger tends to work much better. Roughly 360 ports visited world wide.
As a Gay Couple, we realize that EVERYONE has to deal with these morons at some point. It's unfortunately life,, trying going to the middle east and see the comments and actual punching!! .. Little people, tall people, Handicaped people, over weight people.. move on.. these people are just morons.
I will never understand why people choose to be rude, start fights &/or engage in inappropriate behavior when on vacation. Cruisers know what they signed up for and what will happen if they misbehave.
We met you near the quays on this cruise, lovely to speak to you, and agree with your review of the cruise. We witnessed 3 sunbeds being reserved next to a hot tub very early in the morning and the people never ever came back all day. We have cancelled a booking for April as think P&O not for us.
I was on this ship last November. I thought I was in Spain. I thought all the towels were having a wonderful time on the sunbeds on their own morning to night. The affinity pools I couldn't get near? Most hot tubs either. I'm disabled and need to sit after a few hundred yards, this I couldn't do? I'm also a solo traveller and went to join a group. I turned up and a lady was going around asking passengers if they were solo, everyone said no, but I put my hand up and said yes, me. She looked at me and walked off. It can be hard enough as a solo traveller as people look at you like you have horns, but to get blanked was upsetting. I didn't bother after that? I've travelled across the world on my own and loved every minute, but this cruise made me feel like the odd one out. I can't blame the crew, they were marvellous. It was like a package holiday only sailing? Never again.
I would LOVE to do a transatlantic cruise! For me, I couldn't possibly care less about being in the pool (or near it), nor the entertainment. For me it's all about the sea and the various ports visited. So long as the food is excellent and the cabin is clean and quiet, I'm happy (I am quite capable of entertaining myself). It's nice to know there is a budget cruise available; thanks for that.
Reserving the lounge chairs: Check with the ship crew staff is reserving one. If that is against their rules, or if the have limitations. Follow those rules. Usually If a towel or something is sitting on a chair, move it after a half hour, clear the chair. If you get flack, refer the culprits to the posted tules, or contact staff..
You might not know this but I worked for Princess for years. Every time a cruise ends all of the "Staff Comments" cards are delivered to each department. It used to give us such a boost if we received nice comments from the passengers. I worked in the photo department and we'd always have a meeting in the photo lab before the start of the next cruise. The Photo Manager would read out the cards and we'd all applaud the lovely comments. Doesn't sound like much but when you're on there for a 6 month contract it really means a lot. So if somebody gives you a nice service please write a comment card, they are read and appreciated.
I am SO sorry people were saying nasty comments to you both. I would LOVE to cruise with you. Yes 99.9% of cruisers are fantastic but that .1% can be so put of ish. You both keep being you and just try, yes it's hard, to ignore them. Blessings for your holiday season. I hope you both have a fantastic end of the year.
I love watching you two ❤️ Total foodies just like me . Love your honesty too. Disgusted that you were subjected to bullying behaviour by other passengers. I can not stand bullies and would have said something had I been there. Keep up the good work 😘
I always love watching your videos, and I’m appalled that you guys were subjected to those ignorant people’s bad behaviour. Keep doing what you’re doing - you guys are amazing!
My wife and I are travelling from Australia to the UK in May this year. We will be embarking on a P&O cruise from Southampton to Norway and Iceland at the end of May. We look forward to no stress or hassles.
Hi Ben and David! I’ve just come off Arvia after a 13 night Mediterranean cruise. This was my first cruise and the first time I’ve ever travelled solo. My sea view cabin was very comfortable . My cabin steward was fantastic. The ship’s company were very helpful, friendly, bent over backwards to cater for one’s every need. The quality and variety of food ship wide was of an excellent standard. The ship was kept in immaculate condition inside and out. The embarkation procedure was fast and efficient. There was no problem re: sun beds. The problem with sun beds is being dealt with. Yes, it is busy around the pools, folks need to be more flexible rather than just whinging. There were no drunken incidents that I saw or heard of from my fellow passengers.Passengers being rude/homophobic/racist is not a reflection of P&O standards but is of the individual passenger. Any problems in that regard were dealt with quietly and efficiently by the security team. 99.9% of Passengers were friendly, polite and chatty. I saw a few professional moaners but that applies to every holiday worldwide! I never had to wait long for a table even when I joined a virtual queue for a table for two. The hot tub was just right. The Captain Paul Brown runs a tight ship and publicly acknowledges the hard work of the ship’s company. There really was nothing to complain about. I approached this cruise with an open mind. Some entertainment was a bit cheesy so I just walked on and went elsewhere on the ship! It was fun getting lost, fun exploring the ship, fun discovering places. The behind the scenes tour of the ship was fascinating, eye opening and very informative. I enjoyed meeting the Captain on the bridge. On leaving Southampton we encountered a force 8-9 gale with 70 mile an hour winds and 5-7+ meter waves. Yes, there was movement and creaking but for me that added to the experience of being at sea. It was an exciting experience. I had a sea view cabin on deck four forward on the starboard side just under the gym. There was no noise from the gym. There was occasional sounds from the forward thrusters, again part of being on a ship on water!! There is music inside the ship’s corridors and decks. Some complain about that but if you let it, it becomes white noise. People will complain regardless of what any cruise line tries to do. I think Arvia team have addressed the problems they have control over very well. My highlight excursion of whale watching was cancelled due to adverse sea conditions. Of course I was disappointed, I got an immediate refund to my bank account and a profuse apology . From booking to disembarkation this has been the most problem free holiday I’ve ever experienced. I loved my time at sea and I’m going to do it all again!
Done Arvia this year on a 14 day med cruise, agree about the app it’s very flaky it actually gave up altogether midway through our cruise. Trying an MSC in march 24 to see how others do it. Arvia was ok but the buffet was not really for us it reminded us of people scrambling for food at a UN refugee camp.
So sad that you suffered abuse both for vlogging and personally. You carefully avoid including unsuspecting others in your vlogs and personal abuse is totally unjustified. Your vlogs are honest and very informative which gives one a chance to think if a cruise line is for you or not and they are very entertaining, so keep up the good work.
Hi Ben and David. It's really a shame that people are so rude to other's. I was raised and told growing up. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything. Maybe if these people really took the time to sit down and get to know you there would be less comments. Some people are just unhappy with thier life and lash out at other's as a way of being superior. You're honest, caring people. We love you both. Don't ever let the few get to you. ❤❤
Interesting review. Cruising with the family, our criticisms were: - warm hot tubs - even in the Caribbean sun these didn’t live up to their names and were quite lacklustre - not much daytime or night time entertainment (we thought the evening shows were outstanding but after these there was very little atmosphere to be found) - buffet food was average at best, lacked flavour, lacked choice (where were a variety of Indian or Chinese curries - were these removed from the selection to force customers into speciality restaurants, where was a variety of different desserts). Seems that over the 2 weeks, food was very much the same. - staff weren’t overly chatty, seemed to be rushed - sun beds were hard to find
Ben and David, we are so sorry that you endured such harmful comments from fellow passengers. My heart sank when you shared those comments directed at you both and hearing about Gareths experience too. You are both so lovely and we love your videos and honesty. ❤
We’ve been on the Iona sister shop and are going on Arvia 2025. I’m looking out for my friends parents on this as they were on this cruise and had spotted you both filming a few times 🥰
What a wild cruise. Some people should stay at home if you can't behave in public. Sorry for the bad things said to you by smallminded people. Safe travels. See you on the next cruise.
You can’t just say that people with less money are the ones that are tne troublemakers… seems like a generalization… love your channel… the way you presented the cruise seemed different than most.
Great review and video as always! I've booked in for a cruise on Arvia in August and now looking at cancelling! The sun bed thing puts me right off and then the mention of fights - just not worth the stress. Keep doing what you guys do! Ignore the haters....
I've got 3 cruises booked on Arvia and not worried at all ..I've been on smaller ships where I've seen fighting in the champagne bar, people taken off for stealing and others for getting up to things in the hot tub.. currently watching two other vloggers on the same cruise and not one mention of bad behaviour or horrible passengers...I don't condone what happened to Ben and Dave it's horrible but it doesn't just happen on big ships
Thanks for your review. In my humble opinion, poor cruise behaviour "SOMETIME's" coincides with the cost of the cruise. As the cruise price drops and more passengers are exposed to cruising, a "CERTAIN" element of passengers take advantage of the lower cruise fares that shouldn't be cruising. Thanks again !
What ever price the cruise is people can still go on and get drunk,it sounds like your saying as the cruise price dropped it ment people with less money are going on just cos they have less money don’t mean your going to drink and be a nightmare
Totally agree. The lower fairs allow people who otherwise wouldn't on the ship and they flat our decide to ruin cruises for others. Same thing with flights
@@mindyschocolatethe worst cruise we were on for bad behavior was an older Carnival ship. It was quite affordable and full of drunks and kids running the halls at 2AM.
Hey Ben! My husband loved the colorful shirt you had towards the the end of the video, when explaining your conclusions. Where did you get it? Keep making such great videos! 🎉
I was so happy to hear you speak kindly about Carnival, especially the Mardi Gras. To date, the Mardi Gras is our favorite ship! We cruise on the Jubliee next year. People say all kinds of things about carnival, but we have always enjoyed our Carnival cruises. We cruised on the Discovery Princess in September and we were very bored and for such a new big ship, it was very bland and didn’t offer much.
Cheers for posting this guys...I have just completed my first cruise on the tui / marrela voyager, which was amazing!.. and your review on this p&o ship in comparison to what I have just been on has convinced me enough that I never want to go with p&o I'm grateful to of seen this as i was looking into possibly booking it for next year but not a chance now..I think I'll stick with tui again for my next one...
Someone call the firemen preferably 3… OMG I just laughed so hard. I freaking love you Ben. As usual keep up the great work cause my husband and I love watching you guys.
I must say that I’m not a big cruise person. I have, however been following your trips for over a year. I find the two of you to be sweet, kind, knowledgeable, and hilarious at times. I am so sorry that you both have been exposed to bullies who don’t really know you! Keep doing what you are doing and maybe, just maybe I’ll be lucky enough to meet you both on a cruise that I’m on.
We were on the cruise with you.We saw you filming but observed from a distance,I can honestly say we regretted booking this cruise too if you haven't pre booked everything then take a book as you have nothing to do. Food in the restaurant was basically the same every night as for gala nights I'm not sure if p and o know what they are.We also witnessed a fight not pleasant. As for the flight home Barbados airport could not cope with all these passengers at once.Over all very disappointing. Keep up the good work.
Appreciate the tip regarding where to get a room on a cruise if you suffer from motion sickness!! I do and it has prevented me from taking another cruise. love your channel and this is first time I have gotten this advice! Thank you! And i think its so deplorable and disgusting to be haters and getting abuse from fellow cruise people!!
We’ve been on Arvia, we had similar issues, but it was the minority. I did get abuse at one point on a trip, for telling a guide I was Scottish. It was aggressive and unpleasant. There was similar stories of fighting and orgies in the hot tub, I think some of the accounts are now being exaggerated/perpetuated. The staff on board are really nice, and the food is great, so overall I’m going to say stuff it to the minority and give it another go.
Just watched this video and I'm amazed by your experience, very different from ours. We've been on two P&O cruises this year, Iona and Arvia, and found the whole experience to be very enjoyable, so much so we're booked to go on Iona again in a few weeks. We met some lovely people both times, and never had any issues what so ever being a same sex couple.
It doesn’t look like you’re in Southampton when you were looking around the outside space. Sindhu is amazing. I went on Arvia last January before she was christened. The food is fantastic and looked it, I’m glad you loved the food as well. It’s very sad getting up so early to get a sunbed and it’s unbelievably sad to fight over one, what’s wrong with people. It’s shocking to have this abuse. I am sorry, as a Brit, there’s still these bigots around.
I haven't been able to cruise yet but I'm looking forward to it. I really like to hear that the really badly behaved are thrown off. I wish people didn't have to abuse others to make them feel good. Even if you are intolerant let people be as long as their problems or life choices aren't hurting others.
Love you guys. Crazy stories… was thinking of trying to cruise on a European cruise line to get away from “American” cruisers… be careful of what you wish for I guess. Bottom line, as you said the vast majority of people are nice and friendly. The few like those you mentioned can really ruin it for everyone. Sorry about the homophobia you suffered. I think cruising with you two would be the most fun my wife and I could ever have. Proud of you guys.
As someone else commented it’s often about itinerary. Arvia is a ‘sunshine’ ship and it will always attract an element of drunken loutish behaviour as a result. Its equally beautiful sister ship, Iona, sails to the Norwegian Fjords and Baltic Scandinavian areas and attracts a very different demographic (also the bonus is those destinations are stunning and in summers there are light till very late). For a great value cruise I highly recommend it.
Also if you want to try the Mediterranean consider opting for Cunard. The Queen Victoria is based there all summer and I’ve seen 7 night cruises out of Italy starting at about £800 for a week. I recently was on this ship and the clientele were on the whole mature and relaxed and the ship itself is truly beautiful.
Great to chat onboard, it was our first p&O experience, although regular cruisers. Agree with a lot you of things you spoke about. I can now see the difference between the American aesthetic on ships. But i thought the furniture and tableware was quite nice. Maybe neutral and calming for me! Thanks for chatting we ❤you and your vids Laura x
Cruise lines are their own worst enemy as a far as bad behaviour goes. It's the drink packages. There are small number of people who see it as a challenge to get their money's worth. I can imagine them bragging about it. If cruise lines stopped selling drinks packages there would be less loutish behaviour.
Another great review, guys . Being twice your age , I prefer this type off ship now. I have been on 4 P&O cruises and I have booked the arvia for a carribian cruise. Thanks again
ngl these problems sound like a UK-wide issue. ive noticed people in the UK over the last few years, just generally not even on cruises, acting incredibly entitled, rude and aggressive, especially to staff members. its disappointing and really gives the rest of us a bad name.
Thanks guys your advice is really appreciated we know we can trust you ,some of these companies should listen to you guys they might learn something just like we do ,cheers lads

You guys should invest in wireless microphones to cut out the background noise. There are plenty of options
Are you going to review Sun Princess? We are going on two Jul 24
Ben is exactly right, in the area I grew up we had a saying "You get what you pay for"
Sordid folks think nothing of it,
mentally of I paid for this and I will get all I can. Selfness and greed....😢
Thanks for the 10 percent going to give it my best shot! Thanks
Hey guys, you should go on the P&O Australia one I would like to know your honest opinion on that cruise line myself. I’ve been on it three times it’s not bad
Shame on those people that directed abuse at you. You two are the nicest men and I enjoy your channel.
Those people are dangerous to society, not just these two men.
Keep up the awesome work!
beig quiet enables abusers. they think people agree with them@@LC-r2b
no one was being homophobic your just looking for a fight stfu and watch the video
Honestly the amount of people thrown off that ship it kinda sounded like a shit show.
no one ever talks about old abuse -- old bag etc etc... so we all get it racist, ageist, sexist..whatever...
How can anybody treat Ben and David badly? They are greatest people I have ever met.
I'd be so jazzed to see them on a cruise.
I agree. They are the least of us, thankfully. Simpletons. Ignoramuses.
To be overlooked and ignored. They get nothing.
Well said!
Regardless of the cost if people are so inconsiderate to verbally abuse others then they have no life. Thank you for your video and time.
Yes, they're narcissists. Energy vampires. They're so miserable that it gives them joy to bring down other people. I know to ignore them now.
I ran across them recovering from knee surgery! What a great find. Wishing you wellness!
I hope you are doing well. Am hoping for your full recovery.
Also undergoing cancer treatment and just found Ben and David as well. Hope your treatment is going well. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.
Sorry to hear you had to put up with such bad behavior. Don't let it stop you. Keep living your best life. It really is the best revenge.
We love you guys. My wife and I really enjoy watching your videos. I especially love the way you always express gratitude about being able to experience this lifestyle and recognize that many people in the world cannot. You are well anchored, Ben and David.
I am disgusted that you have been subjected to such abuse. You are wonderful people and a joy to watch on your cruises, loving your channel... xx
I don’t know if it still happens, but on Cunard Queen Victoria, there was an official rule that if the sunbed was vacant for 35mins, belongs would be removed and the bed classed as vacant! I think it was printed on a card.
That policy now applies on Arvia and is enforced. There are big yellow signs on every outside deck. You can’t miss them!!
As an American it truly looks boring throughout! My next British cruise, will be Cunard, a class act through & through!
Most of the time it's when these morons are in groups. let it go and enjoy the rest of your day.
you aren't unique -- we all get it racsist, ageist, sexist whatever..old bag, chink drivers etc etc..
Thank you for those kind words.@@lxp
Thank you.
As an ally and Mom just know the greater RUclips community love you both!
Glad I watched this. We are American and my husband asked if we should check out P&O. Now we won’t. The rowdy behavior and rudeness is NOT our idea of fun. I’m very sorry you were harassed. Also, I agree about the sterility. It did look very airport-like.
I sailed on this ship In July and it was beautiful we didn’t encounter anyone behaving that way 😊
Same. I had an idea that P&O might be a Cunard-ish experience…a little more formal, maybe a break from the relentlessness of Americans. But no. This doesn’t sound like a break from anything.
@Bubby - you’re replying to an American here so watch your words. That was rude. You should fit in on P&O then.
@@leahhughes4335 why is it rude
I’m sorry. I did not mean to be rude. I meant that I feel overwhelmed by the cultural dominance when a ship is overwhelmingly American.
I literally can just listen to u guys talk all day even if it’s absolutely about nothing. Those accents are so amazing ❤❤❤❤❤
It’s unfortunate the captain doesn’t have the legal ability to set them adrift while you’re still at sea (i think I’m just joking….🤔)
Hope you have a great Christmas and holiday time!
Keep your chins up and keep the positive attitude Ben and David. You are awesome cruise vloggers.
Stay safe. 🥰
@@safarieten Thank you for proving my point.
My wife and I were on the same cruise and LOVED IT!!! We actually saw you two filming around the ship Funny how people will watch your RUclips videos for ideas about different cruises but then go out of there way to abuse you “some sad people”, Carry on doing what your doing as your both good at it 👍
Like you said not everyone likes the same things. What I liked was the amount of time I spent with my wife, 9 sea days with no phone or internet or being tide to a time schedule We just did what we wanted when wanted it was great. Meet lots of nice people “also met a few not so nice people”, but overall I’d say 99% of people on board were great.
Thanks for posting the video and for actually being honest as well 👍👍
Have a great Christmas 👍🎅🎅
Really glad you enjoyed it as after watching this video my excitement for my upcoming cruise has turned to dread 😢
@@djplays9147 we have booked this same transatlantic cruise for October 2025. It was great. We loved it that much
I'm so disappointed to hear that you and others were bullied.
The thing I love most about your videos is your blunt honesty. Thank you so much!
Ben, you're right. We are not all the same, but sometimes you and David have made me look at things in a different way. For instance, your river cruise at Christmas time. I've never considered a river cruise. You presented the experience with such innocent wonder, it seemed magical. I hope some day I meet you both on a cruise.
Wasn’t that an amazing video. I never was interested in taking a cruise until I saw this cruise. I
I was telling my brother about that river cruise. He has always wanted to go on a cruise, but his wife does not. Since he saw that river cruise, they are talking about going on one. I'm not sure if I ever remember seeing one. Hope they go. Kathleen
You're so professional. What a polite way of saying that the ship was basic af. 😆
Re getting bashed - I'm sorry, it doesn't matter how many times it has happened, it is always disconcerting to hear a slur, part of that is not knowing if folks are unhinged and if words will turn into violence.
You are such excellent cruise vloggers and I also appreciate your chemistry - you're a very cute couple!! ❤
The Sun beds should be numbered and book online to reserve so everyone gets a chance
Great suggestion!
Hope you guys are ok, NO-ONE deserves to be abused in any way, your better than them, just hold your head up, take care guys. ❤
Ben, love ❤️ your shirts! Thoroughly enjoy your both of your comments every week!
The crew do an amazing job of keeping track of this themselves but they don’t mind if passengers who have been keeping track and waiting go over and ask them about particular ones (only they move the belongings though)
Works brilliantly and plenty of sign around so passengers can’t argue
Good-that’s what they should do!
Hahaha yeah princess is good for them. Cuz they’re gay
Arvia looks fabulous. Loved our previous P&O cruises. Definitely booking one on her for 2024.
We like a lot of sea days, because for us it’s about rest. No schedule on sea days….
@@davidl.6509 Sounds divine!
Darlings! It’s so good to see you! So you you experienced foul people. I hope you have a lovely week. ❤
I love watching you two ❤️
Total foodies just like me .
Love your honesty too.
Disgusted that you were subjected to bullying behaviour by other passengers. I can not stand bullies and would have said something had I been there.
Keep up the good work 😘
I think that ship is very pretty. Just goes to show, we all have different taste. Thanks for sharing your trip with us
I always love watching your videos, and I’m appalled that you guys were subjected to those ignorant people’s bad behaviour.
Keep doing what you’re doing - you guys are amazing!
My wife and I are travelling from Australia to the UK in May this year. We will be embarking on a P&O cruise from Southampton to Norway and Iceland at the end of May. We look forward to no stress or hassles.
So sorry to hear you had to deal with abuse on board 😢 I look forward to seeing what you thought of your cabin
I, too, have always loved Celebrity, but as a solo traveller I am disgusted by the penalties they have started to impose. Never again!
Cruising with the family, our criticisms were:
- warm hot tubs - even in the Caribbean sun these didn’t live up to their names and were quite lacklustre
- not much daytime or night time entertainment (we thought the evening shows were outstanding but after these there was very little atmosphere to be found)
- buffet food was average at best, lacked flavour, lacked choice (where were a variety of Indian or Chinese curries - were these removed from the selection to force customers into speciality restaurants, where was a variety of different desserts). Seems that over the 2 weeks, food was very much the same.
- staff weren’t overly chatty, seemed to be rushed
- sun beds were hard to find
Thanks for sharing your review!
So soory guys you had to deal with abuse. Love you so much ! Healing hugs !
I'm so sorry for what you were subjected to from the other passengers. I really appreciate everything you do to give us your real experiences.
@@sarahbailey6996 Although I didn't understand what you attempted to state, I still thank you for your reply.
Totally agree. The lower fairs allow people who otherwise wouldn't on the ship and they flat our decide to ruin cruises for others. Same thing with flights
Agreed. It’s why I avoid Carnival.
@@mindyschocolatethe worst cruise we were on for bad behavior was an older Carnival ship. It was quite affordable and full of drunks and kids running the halls at 2AM.
I am so sorry for you both, it's not right just not right, never ever ever.
We thought the one-star people on Costa Smeralda were bad, but this sounds especially bad. So sorry that people were abusive to you and others. ❤
Hey Ben!
My husband loved the colorful shirt you had towards the the end of the video, when explaining your conclusions.
Where did you get it?
Keep making such great videos! 🎉
It is a Ralph Lauren from Maceys
I was so happy to hear you speak kindly about Carnival, especially the Mardi Gras. To date, the Mardi Gras is our favorite ship! We cruise on the Jubliee next year. People say all kinds of things about carnival, but we have always enjoyed our Carnival cruises. We cruised on the Discovery Princess in September and we were very bored and for such a new big ship, it was very bland and didn’t offer much.
@@LC-r2b Very cool. The new Mardi Gras is definitely not small and it was beautiful!
@@LC-r2b ooh la di dah to you
Cheers for posting this guys...I have just completed my first cruise on the tui / marrela voyager, which was amazing!.. and your review on this p&o ship in comparison to what I have just been on has convinced me enough that I never want to go with p&o I'm grateful to of seen this as i was looking into possibly booking it for next year but not a chance now..I think I'll stick with tui again for my next one...
Ben’s hair looks great 🤩🤩🤩
Someone call the firemen preferably 3… OMG I just laughed so hard. I freaking love you Ben. As usual keep up the great work cause my husband and I love watching you guys.
I am so sorry you have to deal with abuse, I think you are both wonderful and amazing, funny .
You guys are brave taking a longer cruise on an iffy line. Thank you for “taking one for the team” lol.
I’m so sorry that happened to you guys, we all love you at our place and only hope we see you on a cruise!!!
I’d say try the mid size P&O ships… they’re a lot more fun, more established and still very good value
I feel like P&O need a Monty Python “pay for an argument” space.
Whatever you do don’t suggest that as they probably will
Thanks Guys, Great reviews. Well done from Long time Cruisers
Yep, you’re not wrong here. There is a lot of “I’m alright jack” behaviour now and it’s not good.
Thanks guys your advice is really appreciated we know we can trust you ,some of these companies should listen to you guys they might learn something just like we do ,cheers lads
