An advantage to booking your shore excursions through the cruise line is that you do not have to pay any medical expenses at the ship's doctor if you are injured on the excursion. My adult daughter broke her ankle exiting a jitney in St. Thomas. The first question upon returning was whether or not we purchased the shore excursion through RCCL. We did and they said you're fully covered for the exam, x-rays and wheelchair. Please consider this when deciding to book shore excursions.
I'm appreciative that Ben took the time to explain the frustrations with hearing "no" for requests for things that are available for Diamond class cruisers. Lesson learned: save a screenshot/print the webpage of "perks" that you are entitled to, so you can show the staff. At least having that list on hand will make the interaction "inconvenient" instead of "frustrating". As always, love the channel!
good afternoon guys! I LOVE YOU BOTH SO MUCH! i am a senior citizen who suffers from severe anxiety and do not travel. its so nice to see the world thru you eyes, sending much love from your adopted gram in Ct xoxo (I would love to be friends with you both)
After my best friend and her mom passed I stopped going on cruises every year for 10 years. Now I'm getting a desire to go again and so much has changed over the years and I soo appreciate all the valuable information and tips you provide
#1 rule about Sun cream … apply it liberally in the morning on board when you get ready for the day. It needs to absorb into your skin. Then reapply as needed. If ur perspiring .. dry your face, then apply
What are you going on about LOL. Put it on only when needed, that shit is usually carcinogenic, get it on, use it, wash it off asap. Dont tell people to bathe in it and leave it on all day ROFL You will give people cancer
I learned early on that taking a taxi or hiring a tour company to drive you is the BEST way to see a port. I just let them know that I need to be back at least an hour before the all-aboard time (of course, I also mind my time), and you can see and do so much.
My guess as to why there are charges for things that are complementary on other ships is that RC is not making money on alcohol sales. You mentioned that there are hardly any bars and the ones they do have are not being unitized. Alcohol, and gambling are two huge money makers for cruise ships. That loss has to be made up somewhere.
Hi Guys, Your sunscreen should be Water resistant: Does not come off the skin during swimming or exercise, provided it is not wiped off. While a label may state a sunscreen is '4 hours water resistant', sunscreen still needs to be applied every two hours to maintain the same level of protection. The Australian Cancer Council recommends using any sunscreen that is labelled broad-spectrum, water-resistant and SPF30 or above.
Hi Ben and David. I did laugh about the coffee in the suite. I like strong coffee. It is much better with a splash of Sambuca in it. All those stairs 😮. Absolutely beautiful reward for making the climb. So many things seem to be different depending where you are in the world. As always, thank you both for taking us along with you and doing all this work. Love my Sunday with you. Be well and see you next time. ❤❤
Is it just me or did anyone else see a happy little guy dangling his legs when David opened the yellow pouch?? 🤣🤣🤣 what’s that thing where you see faces in random things? Lol 😂
I loved your point about getting a taste of a place while on a cruise, and going back for a longer stay at a later time! It's like you get a buffet of places to try out. 😊👍
The other nice thing about Jr. Suite or above is double cruise points (or triple if solo). I made Diamond in 5 cruises with Royal by leveraging double points.
Definitely the RUclips channel that is inspiring me to take my first cruise. Great videos. Lots of great tips and advise as what to look out for and avoid.
I noticed Ben say that they love cruising to different countries so that if they find somewhere they like they can go on a longer holiday to it. Omg guys were do you find the time to do that as well lol it’s just one big holiday for you guys so so lucky what a beautiful life to lead.
As someone who lives in Penang it is a pity we missed you but we did a couple of summer cruises back to back in Europe, Iceland and North America. The video was a good sample of Penang but there is so much more to do and Penang has some of the best street/hawker food in the world. I use local Nivea waterproof 30+ sunscreen and it lasts a full round of golf (5+ hours) no problem for me.
I love Sunday mornings, because it’s Ben & David video day!! I knew you were going to get the sprinkle donut the second I saw it!! Hope you are both doing fantastic this fine day!!
La Roche Possay(I know I spelled that wrong...lol) factor50 is a good facial sunscreen. Use it here in Australia every day. I use Neutogena gel 30 +on the body.
You two have truly opened up the love of cruising, (on ships), LOL! You find the grooviest of the grooviest. Your fun filled personalities are the best.
Very nice review of Royal's Asian offering. Like a remake of a favorite movie but many different aspects as well. I need to fact check your time line at 11:51 (research shows The caves were little-known except to local residents until 1878)
Scheduled for 12 night Bali to Singapore cruise on celebrityJanuary 2025. I agree doing a non cruise line excursion can be cheaper but you have the added responsibility of researching where you are going and all the details like when and how much things cost...also the ship won't wait for you. Also we are 2 females and aren't comfortable traveling alone. Great information...thanks
I too chose MyTime on my second cruise and regretted it. Decided to have all my meals at the Windjammer which was a better option as the variety of choices was amazing
Well, you guys have excelled yourselves this time; if that's at all possible given the incredible body of work you've produced so far. A fabulous insight into the ship, which, until we saw your vlog, would have just assumed it was a 'clone' of the others in her class. But its somewhat refreshing that RCI have gone to the trouble of creating that environment for the people of that market and territory. And gosh...blacken our eyes and call us Pandas....every place you visited on shore was a glorious revelation, and an inspiration to check out cruises to those ports, and tours to those locations. You guys should consider doing this full time as a career. Don't know if anyone ever suggested that before 🤔😁
Wow fascinating adventure there guys! Our last cruise was on Ovation and this does look quite different. Another great video, such a pleasure to watch you two and see the world through your eyes. That dining situation seems very annoying! We always choose My Time and don’t usually have a problem if we reserve. Sucks how you couldn’t even do that! 227 days till the VV group cruise!!
always enjoy your vdo. quiye details and informative. i agree with u lately they have cdanged the menus n most classic are now not avaible in the main dinings. the standard of Rcl which i hv been cruising has gonevSouth. their customers service also not efficient . Rcl expanding to fast with mega ship mote pax lower customers care . the staff are always trying to please. u can see they are overwork. mega cruise is not enjoyable. Rcl must revert to prevoius systrms. otherwise they will lose customers as more cruises are avaiable. they prices also gone up but rest svcs gone down. i hope they wiill rethink.
@@williamteo1415 my girlfriend and I are new to royal Caribbean as of May 2022. Prior to that we had done Carnival and Princess and we wanted to give royal a try. I can say that after sailing on four different ships between 2022 and 2023, royal Caribbean is not worth being 100 percent loyal to. Sure we will probably sail with them again at some point, but for now we are open to other cruise lines such as Virgin and celebrity.
The Spectrum of the Seas is the largest RCL ship to come to Singapore and I very much wanted to cruise on it, unfortunately circumstances did not permit. But i will be cruising on the Ovation of the seas towards the end of next year.
You need to look at new mums bags - I still have mine - 8 years later ( actually 16 yrs as used twice ) - no Pampers no baby stuff - but boy oh boy - it's the best bag ever. I'll never leave the wet wipe compartment empty - wet wipes are the best !! But the compartments so many - so light. Great for everything !!
I really enjoy watching you two. My cousins Bryan and Christopher are always cruising. Now it’s finally my time to cruise again yay. Thank you two for the wonderful information.
We just had a junior suite on symphony of the seas. We love the suite life now and it’s so hard to stay in anything else since we first did a suite 4 years ago.
You’re both so hilarious 😂 You might’ve used too many grounds in the espresso machine, they’re tricky to get right and maybe that’s why they don’t offer many machines in rooms. This is where those pods would be more helpful than in peoples homes imho. They could also do kettles with coffee in tea bags that we have in America from Foldgers, or Japan has many brands for pour over filters that were originally also used for tea but you can buy them with coffee and they fit perfectly over a cup.
I stayed in a Marriott portfolio hotel (The Rand in Minneapolis) and they had the Lavazza espresso machine in the room-I went home and bought one. We use Lavazza Top Class Blue-2 Lungo pushes for morning coffee
Darling boys, once again you've warmed my cold, dead heart with your charm and cheer. But dammit, now I have to do an Asian cruise, which was on my bucket list anyway.
Only discovered you guys recently. So catching up. But love your presentation. You always manage to make me chuckle with the naughty winks etc. As for the food, some of the videos I’ve seen like the stormy seas one, the food looks seriously underwhelming! My experience with Azamarra has always been brilliant. Keep doing it guys!
Thats a trip of a life time amazing Ship 😂” pale sausage could do with the sun “ Brilliant The views omg 😱 Stunning 😍 Thanks for the fun & Laughter as well your both just the best 🫶🫶 Have a Good weekend 🥰
I do my time dining and make all my reservations a month or two before boarding. I have never had a long wait on the days we eat in the MDR. As for shows on quantum class and Oasis class, I also make reservations prior to boarding.
We sailed on the Spectrum in February and as Diamond Plus members we could dine in Silver Dining and we were not in a suite, we agree it was wonderful.
P20 is the best suntan stuff! You put it on before breakfast, eat then out you go! Swim sweat hike etc and it's good for 12 hours but I have only tested it for 8 hours and have never had an issue! You can get all different levels of spf! With the hat a baceball hat or just a visor would help.
Do you have Neutrogena? I'm in Canada and they make a really nice feeling creamy sunscreen that doesn't sting the eyes like others where sweat makes it run down. I did a cruise on Spectrum in Jan 2023, Singapore, Penang, Phuket and I was really excited about the Asian touches for this RCL ship. I'm Chinese Canadian. It was nice to see what Silver guests get. The Windjammer was crazy busy a lot but I loved the variety. Less drinking caters to Asians because a larger proportion of Asians essentially lack an enzyme that helps to break down alcohol. I loved the "bubble tea" type options instead of a British pub, but I think there was a Schooner bar. I didn't notice the charges for things like crisps (didn't look) and I found quite a lot of free nice unlimited snacks at the Le Patisserie (when I went - afternoon tea sized cakes, sandwiches, awesome cookies) as well as the two70 (but they didn't really train all of the staff for the North American food like bagels with cream cheese because they tried to just barely scrape on the cream cheese like you might with marmite so I had to keep asking for more. Free hotdog bar was just okay. Overall, I really enjoyed the ship too, especially because it was different. Service was hit and miss for me in the main dining room but exceptional in other cases. Thanks for sharing the excursions! I missed out on some of that so it was nice to see them.
I believe the food availability on RCL ships depends on the region they are cruising, e.g. if the ship is in America, there are more varieties of American type food, and when in Asia, it caters more to the Asian palate, which makes sense
David uses "interesting" the same way I use the word "dynamic." I love that for us. Learning how to be gentler people. Love you both, thank you for the Malaysian tour! Definitely a change from the usual cruise routes. I hope you're both happy and healthy! Cheers!
I used to live in Penang back in 2007-2009 when I was a kid. You guys brought back so many amazing memories (esp Penang Hill and the Batu Caves)!! I’d absolutely love to do this cruise one day ❤️
While the my time dining was a disaster, and we could not get a reservation either, I must say we never really had to wait that long. They had dining rooms to fill on other decks. Just be a bit patient.
That Lavazza coffee in the Junior Suite is STRONG. sticks to your tongue. I had the same reaction you two did. 😅. I love that separate restaurant, we didn't have that on the Symphony OTS.
We sailed out of Shanghai on Royal before and were told in the Asian market they charge for more things otherwise there would always be a constant line. And when the dining rooms opened an instant huge line would form. Also drinking was not popular but gambling was very popular. And little personal space- they would crowd you, using any “free space” available. It definitely was a different experience
What a couple of amazing ports! Wow. I love the ship and the food looked amazing. Asian food is my favourite too and I was drooling looking at it. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it
5:30 - Depending on the sausages type, that might be normal. Consider that E250 is added (which is a known cancirogen) for color, to make sausages "Redish" and sell more of them, since consumers prefer that instead to natural type. Just saying...
Hi guys !!!! Since my hometown is in Puerto Rico and it’s very hot every day, I recommend you to buy a face sun mineral filter with aloe or Coconut and 100%, also a big hat will also help, there’re some hats that are very flexible to fold and carry in your bag. Enjoy Asia. 🇵🇷
For sunblock, i use CeraVe. It doesn't sweat off. I spent all day on a beach in Florida and didn't get burnt. It IS a zinc block instead of a chemical block, though, so you do look a little white when you have it on. I would say don't use the waterproof baby version, though. It took multiple showers to get it off. The normal face and body versions are good, though! (As recommended by my dermatologist who said "we need to treat you like a redhead with eczema")
Hi Lad's. Good discripution and advice of tours. A little info on best currency to use would be helpful, local or dollars and can you use card, contactless payments in taxis and restaurants etc. We are doing the 5 and 9 night cruises in feb 24. Do you have any more videos on stops 😊
Thank you for a good, balanced and informative vlog. It was interesting to see the difference by region. We have not been on RC for many years now. Best wishes from England
That silver lounge is so cool! I hope they bring those to other RC ships, otherwise I'll have to book an Asian trip. Thanks guys for another great video!
I don't remember the name but the best suncream that protect all day( have to reapply after swimming) is P20, applied 1/2 hour before exposure to sun. There was a P50. Expensive but protects for longer.
Ben and David about suncreens, I recently bought a 'Cancer Council spf 50+ uva - uvb Broad spectrum sunscreen. Its up to 4 hours water resistant and they recommend re applying every 2 hours. This is a particularly thick cream I noticed and I feel a difference in the heat of the sun with this. Perhaps carry a teeny container of it to reapply when necessary? So this or similar sunscreen may be a help to you.
Fabulous vlog!! I love your channel!! I love how well you cover everything! I love your honesty, your energy, and your personalities!! Your vlog is classy, and you have a great sense of humor!! We are big cruisers and really appreciate your videos!! Thank you Ben and David!! You are the best!! 😊
Hello guys. I have cruised on Allure and Oasis and their bran muffins in the Windjammer buffet are fantastic! I just read that people are trying to get the recipe. I really enjoyed this video. Asia is on my bucket list. I don't like humidity, so I'll need to go before summer.
I find the Japanese sun creams best, I stocked up tons of Biore sun blocks there - they are the best stuff I used, very effective, not greasy and doesn't rub or sweat off easily.
Ben: "let us know if you do breakfast dessert"
All Americans: "oh is that NOT a thing...?"🤣
You two (y’all) are the only cruise guys who present a meal in an appetizing manner. It matters!
I have a poor appetite yet you guys make food look edible 🎉
Thank!

Cool in Penang ,friend has a really cool orchid nursery close by.
That sprinkle doughnut looked bloody lovely 🥰
What a couple of amazing ports! Wow. I love the ship and the food looked amazing. Asian food is my favourite too and I was drooling looking at it. Looking forward to seeing the rest of it
Pale sausage.......and a Donut...........🤔 Easy Ben!!
5:30 - Depending on the sausages type, that might be normal. Consider that E250 is added (which is a known cancirogen) for color, to make sausages "Redish" and sell more of them, since consumers prefer that instead to natural type. Just saying...
Yes, here in Singapore those sausages are common.
Chocolate croissant like David for suuure!!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Try Bull Frog sunblock, saltwater will not wash it off and it should stand up to sweating good.
When that new bag was open, it looked like a little character, with the straps as tiny legs and the black velcro as eyes. Just me?
Thank you for a good, balanced and informative vlog. It was interesting to see the difference by region. We have not been on RC for many years now. Best wishes from England
That silver lounge is so cool! I hope they bring those to other RC ships, otherwise I'll have to book an Asian trip. Thanks guys for another great video!
With my time dining I found on the cruise planner under dining you can pick your times each day online.
I hope you had a great trip and seen good history.
Do you live on cruise ships as some people do and you was on arvia not so long ago and done a cruise or two since ❤ what a lovely life.😊
We don't lol. We live in Cambridgeshire :-)
Amazing ship and a great place to visit, we did this in October 2022 and it was amazing
Hello guys. I have cruised on Allure and Oasis and their bran muffins in the Windjammer buffet are fantastic! I just read that people are trying to get the recipe. I really enjoyed this video. Asia is on my bucket list. I don't like humidity, so I'll need to go before summer.
Great video for a rainy, cold day in CT 😊😊
Used your Viator affiliate link! Perfect timing I was just looking into shore excursions in Curaçao so it was perfect timing! 😊😊
Awesome! Thank you!
I find the Japanese sun creams best, I stocked up tons of Biore sun blocks there - they are the best stuff I used, very effective, not greasy and doesn't rub or sweat off easily.
good to hear you say the dobut is fluffy, my experience with rcl is that the donuts are more like "cake" donuts
