Bret got a good match out of Diesel at Survivor Series. Not too many people can say that. Also, his match with Owen to open WM 10 will always be one of my favourite matches of his, and my favourite opening match to a WM. Maybe because of the story arc thoughout the PPV. I love one story Bret mentioned before, when they rehearsed that, he thought he wouldn't work because Owen was doing so many good looking moves, the crowd would love him. So Owen was adlibbing acting bratty during the match, otherwise Bret figured Owen was gonna turn face and he'd be a heel. He said he wishes that had happened at one point: Face Owen vs. A heel Bret.

This particular case is more tame than other's I've seen, but it's always there. He talks about the Austin fight all the time, and I don't think there was one time he didn't sound arrogant to me. Bret Hart vs British Bulldog was the best match in WWE in that time...Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat was before the best in the first WWF years..when we talk about wrestling in ring skills storyline...
I never get tired of watching Bret wrestle. It's a shame we never got to see him against the likes of Kurt Angle, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, etc. in early 2000's WWE. I'm no historian by the way, I'm sure Chris and Eddie may have wrested Brett in WCW, but let's face it that promotion was a sh*t show by the time Bret got there, and Chris and Eddie were so overlooked I imagine any matches were booked as 5 minute almost mid-card affairs not to overshadow Hogan and his cronies. It' also a shame his match happened with Mark when it did, because in my opinion, Bad Ass Undertaker was the best incarnation wrestling-wise that we've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Undertaker gimmick, it was of it's time and great fun, but when the shackles of that came off, Mark really got to show his ability as a wrestler. I'm so glad Bret has given him the credit he deserves, especially with the constraints Mark had with the character. I'm really in awe of Brett. Imagine being truly f*cked over by someone you trusted and who you'd worked so hard for, Dealing with the death of your brother, then you get shafted by another idiot because they have no idea how to book talent properly and no control over their own organisation. And then to top it all, you get kicked in the head and your career is over. Bret then has the grace and dignity to get into the ring and shake hands and hug Shaun Michaels, a man who was happy to royally screw Bret to further his own career (your not kidding me with this born again sh*te Michaels, I wouldn't trust you as far as I could p*ss). Bret is a real man, one tough S.O.B. and more than entitled to call himself, the excellence of execution and the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be. God bless you Bret! 💗
And TrueGordie is telling this man to "grow up" after watching the Mr.Mcmahon documentary... People need to have more respect for what this man did for the business as a whole. Bret is the best there is,the best there was and the best there ever will be.
I would honestly put the HBK/Taker Hell In A Cell (HIAC) above this match as well. jut below their WM streak matches; which if as I recall was the 1st Place Runner-Up for match of the year in 1997, losing to the Bet v Austin WM 13 match
If you pay close attention. His "praise" isn't. "70/30, well Shawn maybe contributed 20 or 25... That isn't a jab at Shawn". "80/20 for Austin" - After mentioning him bringing a "stump puller" Then the "50/50" thing about Undertaker. First off: he's talking about "contribution" to making the matches great. Brett Hart and Shawn Michaels have a long history. And a bitter rivalry. The Montreal Screw job being top of the list. Austin, not so much rivalry there. But just on those two alone. He's speaking a "tongue in cheek" message of "I contributed way more to those matches then those guys". Even with the "champ controls the matches" bit. And with the "50/50" on Undertaker. He's talking about one of the most fan loved wrestlers in the history of wrestling entertainment. For him to even try to pose himself as greater than Taker. First off: isn't likely to be believable. Second: Undertaker would simply shred up everything Hart could say in a different interview. One issue Hart has is that even as far back as during the old WWF days. Hart was a bit of a fan favorite wrestler, who had been a second stringer to more popular, and fan pulling wrestlers like Ultimate Warrior, Undertaker, etc. He was retconned to wrestling other second stringers like Benoit, Jake the Snake, etc. And I think it pissed him off to no end. Which lead up to him leaving for WCW. But, his speech is underpinned with the subtle message of "I'm better than them"... If you also pay attention to when he starts talking about Undertaker. He looks like he's pausing to be careful with his words. And doesn't loosen up until he talks about how great of friends they were. Basically, Brett Hart is bitter. And he's trying to build his fan appreciation back up. Pinky just needs to give it already.
I never believed the Davy Boy match story. If i went out drinking, just drinking(beer and maybe a couple of shots) from 10pm to 3am. Then slept from 4am to 11am, i would STILL be shot the whole next day. My eyes, facial features would be distorted, my movements would be limited the whole day and night, its called a hangover. Davy Boy looked fine. Eyes, face and movements. He was supposedly on a three day crack binge with no sleep? Bret called the match yeah, but I'm convinced it wasn't under those circumstances.
When you watch the promo Davey did before the match....it was awkward you can tell he's "off". (Not that Davey was ever great on the mic) was it a 3 day binge? maybe not, But it is known Davey had his problems so it wouldn't surprise me if he was a little "fooked" as he would say.
@@marcpower4167 According to Bret Hart himself. Davy Boy and Neidhart, 3 day pipe session, no sleep leading to Wembley. I dont buy it either. He looked fine in that match. I dont remember his promo and cant find it. I did see an unrelated promo on the Repo man, talk about weird.
Wish Hart wouldn’t have spoken about the Deadmab gimmick with such disdain. I think he comes across a little egotistical in this interview. The only reason I even liked wrestling was because of the Deadman gimmick
Yeah, Bret comes off narcissistic, but he's really not. Listen to how other wrestlers talk about the matches, and he truly is the beststory teller in a match. The match itself is a story and the simple things he does like when Taker sat up his head dropped in frustraition thats perfect in telling the story of the match and Brett was the best at it

Somehow Bret takes seven drinks and the level never goes down
Please bring this stuff to st louis
Isn’t this an old clip?
2019 or 2020
Why does everyone on here call him Brett? Fact check his name it's fucking BRET
😂
We're the real wrestling fans.
Blame the kid who called him "Brettttttttttt"
Super disrespectful of the audience to go crazy every time Bret takes a drink. Can wrestling fans just act normal for 30 minutes?
Maybe they're just Irish?
Super disrespectful of you to cry about people having a good time. Can youtube commenters just act like they're not on their period for 6 minutes?
😂 agreed , why is there a dying need to feel offended on behalf of someone else? Exhausting personalities i tell you@@giannipuface9441
Perfect should’ve been on that list
Agree the WM13 Austin match is #1
And TrueGordie is telling this man to "grow up" after watching the Mr.Mcmahon documentary...
People need to have more respect for what this man did for the business as a whole.
Bret is the best there is,the best there was and the best there ever will be.
True Geordie would have been a yes man back in those days and would have butt licked his way to the top always thought that about him he’s a dork
Imagine if undertaker stayed as mean mark
First video ever without any mention of Goldberg.
You just mentioned it… it’s ok, you’re not to blame tho, we all know who is 😂
Might as well wrestler an actual gorilla. Bret is funny with his Goldberg digs sometimes.
Some real jam up guys.
Honestly taker vs bret is takers best match outside of the streak and im a HBK guy
I would honestly put the HBK/Taker Hell In A Cell (HIAC) above this match as well. jut below their WM streak matches; which if as I recall was the 1st Place Runner-Up for match of the year in 1997, losing to the Bet v Austin WM 13 match
@brucedaboss6316 that's fair I'm not a massive fan of hell in a cell in General so that's just me
If you pay close attention. His "praise" isn't.
"70/30, well Shawn maybe contributed 20 or 25... That isn't a jab at Shawn".
"80/20 for Austin" - After mentioning him bringing a "stump puller"
Then the "50/50" thing about Undertaker.
😂 yup..Bret the shitman start at it again
@@Cherubim666999 yep basically
Bret* 🤦🏻♂️
@@StarwarsfanArmy issues?
All of Bret's matches are top 5 matches to Bret.
Booed in America, cheered everywhere else is stretching it.
Listen to how Taker etc talk about Bret
Bret is still conceded about his wrestling skills. I mean he had mad skills but all that 80-20 me stuff paints him in a bad light...again.
Not if you actually listen to what he's saying. Had nothing to do with wrestling skills. He's talking about coming up with the ideas for the match
I thought Hit Man vs taker was great .
The match itself is a story and the simple things he does like when Taker sat up his head dropped in frustraition thats perfect in telling the story of the match and Brett was the best at it
I get depressed listening to this legend lately. He's still bitter about so much, and it sucks to see one of the best like this.
He's just honest. I like that......
Brett Hart is a legend in his own mind!
He's a legend in a LOT of people's minds.
Poor Bret had to watch guys from his era wrestle in their late 50's and he didn't get to wrestle to late 40's. If wcw sent him to the doctor right after the kick, he probably could've
If he never faced Goldberg at all he'd have wrestled more probably longer than 2005 and compete in tna for a few years then retire going into the 2010 hall of fame
Even the Ultimate Warrior likes Bret Hart.. surprisingly Warrior looks like he never like anyone
As a Mexican-American, I am curious what a "Mexican Wave of applause" is. I'd like to clarify that I'm not offended by this statement, but I don't think I can identify the particular aspects of applause that make it Mexican. I'm open to trying to understand this sentiment. Anyone care to explain?
The Mexican wave is done in football matches. Crowds simulate a wave, this crowd didn't do it, but the host just mentioned it sounding like one.
@@SRC267 I'm a white American, and I've only heard it called "The Wave." Is there a difference between a "Mexican Wave" and the one people most commonly done in the US? Genuinely curious about that.
@@eyellgeteven9928Not sure about differences as i only heard of the former. All i know is it started in the 1986 World Cup finals in Mexico City. Possibly it based on the same origins, just not socially called that in the US.
@@SRC267 I didn't know that, thanks for the info.
That wasn't a shoot on Taker in fact he was praising him but at the same time he sounds pretty full of himself like Shawn and Austin just contributed 20-30% in matches, not buying that!
That’s not what he was saying at all
Bret Hart vs Ric Flair
He couldn't say shit against taker even if there was a reason to. Taker would make that last concussion look like nothing
Bret is cocky, but he’s honest. All the things I hear him say that come off soooo cocky and like his ego is inflated…none of it is dishonest. He was one of the best workers ever and anyone who says different is lying. He could also shoot, cuz he was a hart 😂
Best Bret Match is 13 with Steve Williams
What? No love for El Dandy?
Undertaker talks about keeping finishers protected, but kicks out of Hart's?
This dude.. 🤦🏻♂️ Shawn M. Best in ring wrestler ever but he only contributed 20%. Hit man is not misunderstood or just being honest. He gets labeled as bitter & arrogant a lot… because he is!
So nobody wants to point out that his lip was dropping on raw as if he either had or is getting ready to have another stroke?
He had the stroke and you can have the drooping lip if you are overtired. It is part and parcel of acquired brain injuries.
