Hannah!! I love your videos so much and I would love it if you could react to Alex Sampson his best song is Play Pretend BUT he just released a new song like yesterday called Serotonin! It has some crazy vocals you’ll love :) 🥰
Hannah the fellow you’re asking about is supposed to be Roger Bart, Jonathan’s good friend. The actor is Joshua Henry. Who has performed in Carousel, Violet, Hamilton and In the Heights on Broadway
Can you please react to more BTS, like - Butter, Film Out, On( kinetic manifesto film) black swan, Yours( Jin), The Truth Untold-live, Stigma ( V)- live, Singularity (V), Dope, Mikrokosmos, Falling( jungkook cover), let go- live, Fake Love, DNA, Premission to dance, blood, sweat and tears, Epiphany ( Jin), my time( jungkook), serendipity( jimin), ego( jhope), daechwita( Suga), Persona( rm), still with you( jungkook), and many more💜🥺😘
That moment where Jonathan sings "what does it take to wake up a generation?" And then it shows the OBC of RENT because he DID wake up a generation... my entire body erupted in chills
Will Smith or Benedict cumberbatch has the most chance of winning..but Andrew definitely has the audience hearts for his performance this year .. I'm happy atleast he is nominated
i highly recommend watching the entire movie while the singing is brilliant, the acting throughout the entire movie is gorgeous also joshua henry has most recently played pomatter in waitress. i had the pleasure and honor of seeing him before it shut down early :(
OMG, yes please, watch the movie!!! This show is something that I think a lot of artists and creators can relate to and really connect with so the story would be engaging, but there are also a ton of great songs, both sung as part of the show itself and in the background. I highly recommend it
At the end of the song, they actually don’t say “words” they play happy birthday on the piano, then on the last note of that the other instruments join in and it shows the title of the movie. Anyways, you should totally watch the full movie! It’s so good! The acting is just amazing and the other songs are great as well!
@@leondore well yes, but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t well done, no? And some of the arrangements were changed. Plus u don’t get to here them as much. It’s a great opportunity to listen to them, I think.
While it does cut off, ironically it doesn’t end with Andrew saying “words” rather him playing the ‘happy birthday’ tune signifying him turning 30 and that time has run out .... at least that is how i humbly interpreted it. Props to Andrew who yes lied about singing but spent the year training properly and proof that anyone can sing.....some just happen to sing better or be born to it with truly insane voices
If I remember correctly, when I worked on this song with my singing teacher, she said that I'd did that on the opening night of tick tick boom since it was his birthday when it came into Broadway. It was a few years ago so that might not be the exact reason but I know it was something like that
You should check out all the songs. Why, Johnny can't decide, Boho days, Come to your senses, uh, every song is so meaningful, this is definitely my comfort movie.
3:42 that's Jonathan Larson's sister in the audience 💜 And Lin Manuel Miranda has had Joshua Henry in every single one of his musicals and so wanted to have him in this movie to introduce him and his beautiful voice to the world
If you want more Joshua Henry, I would HIGHLY recommend listening to him sing Soliloquy from Carousel. His voice in that classic style is absolutely incredible!!
You should watch the whole movie! Andrew earned that Oscar nom. Joshua Henry is one of my favorite Broadway stars. One of the smoothest voices you’ll hear onstage. He was one reason I was excited about the movie. I saw him play Burr in Hamilton in LA.
@@wuzzy41123 he was part of the original Chicago company in 2016. I was lucky enough to see him as Burr there. You would think he would steal the show but the whole company was incredible.
It's the moment when he looks at his parents and they both smile at him and he just has this stupid grin on his face. That got me all choked up. Also at 3:42 the woman on the right, that Jonathan Larson's mom in real life.
The show and now the movie always makes me cry. Every time. You have to watch the entire thing. Only thing missing from Netflix is extra harmonies from the original Broadway version. And depending on the show, they don't give you the last "word." Some shows add it, I don't think the original book had the last word sung.
The note is left un-resolved and instead goes into a simple "happy birthday" on the piano to bookmark the film which starts with Jonathan (Garfield) being really anxious about not achieving anything before his 30th birthday (the song 30/90)
you’ll LOVE the whole movie, you should totally watch to it!!! and yes Joshua Henry is INCREDIBLE. you should listen to his rendition of Soliloquy from Carousel
Ma'am, if you liked Vanessa in this song... "Come To Your Senses" will blow you away. It's also in the movie and also written by Jonathan Larson. 🤧🥺 AND YES, you should watch the movie.
This is one of the best movie musicals ever made and a love letter to artists. You absolutely should watch it. I know this is controversial but I love it waaaay more than rent.
This film is soooo underrated especially if you know what it’s all about. I’m not that big into musicals, but everyone knows rent because it was so influential. Love Andrew and this movie
Green Green Dress has always been my mom's favorite song from the show, and she was *very* upset that they cut it 😂 To be fair, it's not a song that really adds much in terms of the story, but it IS a lot of fun :)
You should tottaly watch the whole thing! It's perfect, truly deserves an oscar. And the other songs can just get better, Jonathan Larson was a GENIUS.
You should definitely watch the whole movie. And the featurettes on the production because there was so much attention to detail. They did some cool stuff, like they had a tape recording of an actual voicemail from Sondheim, they had access to videos Larson took of his home and recreated it exactly. They also combined three versions of the stage show in order to make an adaptation for screen. Really cool stuff.
Just wanted to agree with everyone else who says you should watch the whole thing. I didn’t know anything about this show but LOVED the film! The Sunday segment made me scream, and there are so many little Easter eggs and cameos sprinkled throughout. Also Josh Henry is fab, he was incredible in the Scottsboro Boys.
The movie has so many powerful and meaningful moments and the music's with their lyrics are phenomenal!! Definitely worth watching the entire thing. Thank you for these reactions x
You should watch and react! I'm sure it's in the comments somewhere, but I didn't see it, and just in case, part of the reason this was probably requested so much is Andrew has talked extensively about he didn't know how to sing before this movie. And in fact the only reason he got cast is because a mutual friend of his and LMM lied and said Andrew had a great singing voice. He learned how to sing for the movie. Love the reacts and the personality!
Ahhh please react to more! I would love to see 'come to your senses'. Also the man on stage with Andrew is Joshua Henry! He has been in all of Lin's musicals (In the heights, Bring it on: the musical, Hamilton) he was also in the 2018 revival of Carousel. His most recent role was Dr. Jim Pomatter in Waitress as part of the closing cast!
You NEED to react to the entire movie! If you had chills without even knowing what’s going on you’ll be blown away once you start “Louder than words” after watching the entire movie and its background story. It’s a masterpiece 🙏🏻
YES. Yes, yes, yes, yes you should watch the whole film! The songs are incredible and they are so much more moving when you see them in context! Really a beautiful movie and tribute to Jonathan Larson.

i almost cried again watching this. this songs are so good the story is the cherry on top of the cake. you wont be dissapointed when you watch the film and i definetly would watch that video if you made one for it
Jonathan Larson wrote this in the early 90s. The fact that these lyrics are so insanely relevant these days is so hurtful, because it means as a people, we still need to be better and do better. So having Andrew sing them so beautifully is a gift of real soul.
Yes please react to the entire movie, you will love it each song is great and it’s an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish. Great video as always
YES!! You have to watch this musical. There's actually a little more to that song, and the youtube channel cuts it off. But it only means something in context to the whole film. You should do a first time watching for your channel, because OMG it's so good!
Watch the movie. It's a biography, and a commentary of social awareness at the time (and unfortunately some still have this thought process). Obviously, I am really trying not to spoil it for you.

Late but as much as you should watch the movie, checking out performances or clips of past performances on youtube (even checking out performance recordings), is definitely worth it.
I love her reaction to the end that is *exactly* how people react when it goes to "happy birthday" (or at least how I do). Also, the whole movie is an absolute *must* for a music nut. Even if you don't really like or even know of "RENT," you will appreciate "Tick...Tick...BOOM!" Maybe if you'd do a review you can time it for Oscar Sunday? Seems fitting ;).

I was sooo excited for this video and it’s finally here! This is my favorite song from the movie, always gives me chills. Also Andrew Garfield is nominated for an Oscar for this movie!!!
Uhhhh, YEAH, you need to see it. It contains absolute legends of broadway in one particular number. If you don't see Tick Tick Boom in its entirety, you will be less fulfilled as a human being.
I was blown away by Andrew's singing after watching the film! Especially since he's said he trained specifically for this role. This was the standout song to me after watching the film, and I've had my faves on repeat for over a month now. I'm so impressed with his vocals!
I love this song! So beautiful! The ending! Kinda haunting! You’ve probably heard the last little bit by now, but he never even finishes the phrase! He plays Happy Birthday! There is an album called Jonathan Sings Larson. It’s Jon singing the demos for his songs. There was not a lot of him actually singing that got recorded before he sadly passed! I would love if you could do a full film reaction to this! Also, do a reaction to Jon’s musical RENT! There is a Original Broadway Cast Recording and a film version that has most of the OBC except for the roles of Mimi and Joanne! If you liked this movie, and Jon’s story you will not regret diving into RENT, if you haven’t already! 🥰💙
Louder Than Words is my favorite song in that movie. The movie was so so great, the acting was amazing, the song was incredibly written and sang, the script was perfect. I hope you watch it!
There is no last note but you’ll definitely love the ending of that song. Joshua Henry was in Carousel on Broadway with Jessie Mueller and Lindsay Mendez - he was also Aaron Burr at one point

I vote for a movie reaction because honestly, it's a MASTERPIECE. And I'm not even joking or exaggerating!

There is no last note it starts playing happy birthday on piano because it’s the last song in the movie
I love the fact that Andrew learned to sing for this role.
