You should've done a 60-0 test before and after installing the new brakes. Remember this for next season. Yes. We want more seasons.

Frost73 Eh... it's about building a track day car, where the overall collection of performance is more important than raw numbers of 0-60 & 60-0 & lateral Gs...60-0 especially, because the braking distance is constantly shifting due to heat, wear, & what the car is doing each moment.
TinKnight You are right, but it would help to see how much of an actual difference adding new brakes can do.
Bigger brakes will hardly improve the stopping distance at all. It's all about better heat dissipation and stopping the brakes fading. The stock brakes on the first stop will stop just as hard, but big brakes will keep that performance even after a lot of abuse.
can we just appreciate how good this car sounds.
That's one of the many many benefits of an Inline 6 over a V-6.

TinKnight with the exception of the VQ35/37 because somehow Nissan figured out how to make them sound inline

I was thinking the same thing...seeing the total spent & comparison w/ a modern car is nice, but seeing where they started/how they've progressed would be useful (maybe as a wrap-up with the next episode?).
TinKnight the point is it needs to be at the start of the hot laps otherwise the times he is getting excited about means nothing to us

But I also understand they're not likely to edit the videos for it, & so am just suggesting a possibility for the finale.

Well, the point of the series is to have a budget-friendly track day car, which they've pretty much reached the threshold of what can be done and still be budget-friendly. Impressive results from only 4,000 Pounds...but a turbo or engine swap would easily double that total.
It is a good series, though, and it definitely shows the value in smart modifying rather than just throwing gobs of money at the rig.
They can add bolt ons. Turbo. Gas. Whatever dude the choices are loads :(

remove the sun roof and weld or bolt a thin plate over it. you won't beleave how much the sun roof weighs. it will help with body roll.
backyard magic - I've thought that since they started. Also should remove the glass windows and replace with perspex, but that one is a bigger job. :p

Dud you bought the wrong seat (well wrong seats for your size). The belts aren't supposed to rub against the seat. If you where a bit bigger (or if the holes where a bit lower) it shouldn't rub. Your seats aren't going to help you in case of a crash, actually it will make your life even worst in a case of accident.

and.. u have the beams, the celica and mr2 have the vvti and they are perfomance.. sort of.. and the vvtli in celica and cde12
yea the beams was the first of the Toyota engines to use dual VVTi, both on the exhaust and intake cam. All manufacturers try to make more power while improving efficiencies and reducing emissions. Being able to control valve timing and lift is a big plus. Like Toyota's relatively new Valvematic system, it's similar to BMW's Valvetronic or Honda's patent on their Advance VTEC. In any case all this precise control over the valves eliminates the need for a EGR valve and results in better power potential, more efficient use of the fuel and higher specific output. If it weren't for cost of the systems all engines would have advanced systems and not just a few.

I love the series, but I am pretty sure those seats are too big for you. I'm pretty sure that the harness should have room to move through the seat and should be level with your shoulders, not slouched downward, which could cause an issue in an accident. I do not work at a store that sells seats or anything, so please correct me if I am wrong.
Thomas Levis also looks like where they are mounted is slightly to high, needs to be between completely horizontal and 45 degrees downwards for the same reason. I'm not a tech either but just looks a bit out

That engine sound ! It sounds so goooooooooood !!! I own EBC brakes (discs and yellowstuff pads) they work great from cold and get better with heat in them. Great video series Car Throttle !

Its a bad idea to use a harness without a roll cage. If you roll over the harness doesnt allow you to bend down, and your spine becomes the roll cage. Paralysis is not fun.

With this kind of speed there is no need for downforce

Yeah maybe for the chicane (and he's not even lifting the throttle), but the other corners are definitely to slow to generate enough air flow to produce downforce. Playing with tire geometry would be much more useful for such a track

since the Altezza came with a 3sge so the 3sgte engine would be a nice and different swap from the all-time jz swaps

I really hate the fact that they ripped out the interior and made this basically impossible to daily. The GT86 may have already lost but it could function as an everyday car. A minor gripe but loving the series anyways

You guys should really watch ChrisFix before doing things. That brake job was awful, bucket seats are wrong size.
Exactly my point. @3:00 it is clear that rust inhibitor had not been cleaned judging by the reflection clarity.
who needs to service the brakes when you change em. just jam the new pads in, no lube, they'll seize quickly. the rust inhibitor will clear the first couple brake applications.
