Why upgrade fuel and ignition? Remap the ECU yes but I don't think it needs any fuel or ignition changes how it is now. Intake is technically already done with a K&N filter, I don't think a proper aftermarket CAI would make a difference
Phillip Deic,Yep thats true remap can do a lot. My dad diesel 3 series touring was 136hp stop and has been remapped to 183hp to the wheels and the torque is insane compared to stock. It's a turbo engine tho. Lots more gains to be had.
every time i look at mine i can't help but think that it's peak small 4 door. clean, simple lines, spot on proportions, and the size of the thing is just perfect. i hope i can still drive it in 10 years...

@@SmokeRook7 i had to get new brakes and pads all around, and a couple of new taillight bulbs, but that's routine maintenance in my book. Then the front right lower control aem ball joint had a ripped little rubber boot, replaced both sides. Apart from that, nothing. There's no rust, engine and drivetrain were just flawless, and i've just passed 270'000km. I have no doubt it'll get into the mid 300'000s at least, probably more.
This series is my favourite. I was planning to build an is200 to this sort of spec over the next few years, so it's great to see how it would've been if I did it
The suspension is what slows down the IS200 at this point. Because it dips so low, the weight shifts to the front left/right in turns, which causes the car to understeer. The corner comparisons between the lexus and honda show exactly what I mean. Either way, I enjoyed this serie and hope more will follow soon. Thank you for your continuous effort into making these!

I noticed that there haven't been a youtuber member who did consistent episode(s) build and test step by step like you guys. It's always be 1 or 2 build video then they went quiet or work on a different project car.
Erm... I don't wanna sound nerdy, but a clutch should always be driven in first in order to bed in the clutch and the flywheel . If you get on it like that right away, the torque rating will decrease immensely. (even if this car doesn't have a whole lot of torque)
Very nice series. Glad to watch it because i'm owning same car too and modifying. Only thing i would change is to put 17'' wheels on. This car really needs low profile tyres... The feel is much much better than with 16''. Thank you for the series !

For all the rookies that will change their clutch to add some extra fun. There is a break-in period which is needed on the clutch to help it seat properly over time and to reduce glaceing of the flywheel which is costly to replace and repair.

Car Throttle hey Alex i really need an answer here. if i put a lightened flywheel in my car and an oem clutch kit from toyota will it be ok? since i just saw that the clutch disk you put in did not have springs as the oem does i assume these are some kind of springs. your thoughts?
Nice, i underestimated the Altezza AS200/ Lexus IS200. That's a sweet exhaust you put on there gosh it sounds good, have to get one for my RS200, which by the way is the sporting Altezza with the 3S GE 210BHP. That or the IS300 with the 2JZ really should have been the car for this experiment as they are the superior performance versions of the this car. That and this one has a sunroof added to the extra weight of the significantly less powered 1G straight 6 engine in there, not the best pick. But a great video none the less 😊
Hey Alex, I've been watching your vids for a year or two, I came across your channel ever since I met you at silverstone 1 or 2 years ago, I can't remember when but you had the mustang, u met my dad and grandad and also me and my brother. I would of liked to have had a race, I'm pretty sure my grandads Audi A1 would have smoked you. Every time u upload I watch it and say to myself "I can't believe I met this guy" I was a newbie at cars 🚗 back then. Love the vids and keep up the good work
dual mass flywheel...basically a 2 mass damper. it doesn't get rid of engine vibration per se, especially as an i6 has perfect 2nd order balance. flywheels smooth out the power pulses between each cylinder firing by keeping the rotation going when there is no combustion happening. I guess you might feel the pulses in the cabin if you didn't have one...it'd be a rawkus rather than smooth experience.
Can you guys do a video on how to navigate and purchase things on eBay. As the site is considered by many enthusiasts as a "do not buy performance parts from there". Or the "buy from the company 'I' believe sells or makes the best parts". This way, the individuals who are thinking of getting parts from there have a good idea as to what to look for.

It just needs some LED bulbs and it would easily get a laptime under 35s and gain 89hp
Don't forget neons under the car for added downforce !

Momo steering wheel +25 bhp
stickers +5 each but stripes are 10 to 25 depending on color and shape. "TURBO" also increases effect of stickers and stripes by 25 to 50%

That Lexus is fast, but the rear suspension on the it needs to be raised a bit. It may help dampen the rebound for smoother corner entry and exit.
