I got all excited when you showed a IS200 with a Beams 3SGE engine in that sweet PlayStation intro, but that low stress 1G-FE is probably a way better engine for the Ring and sounds sweet. And what a nutter Andrea is...smashing curbs at 190-kph! Love it!

Impressive driving by Gatti, this past 2021 I was able to enjoy a co-driver lap and it was an incredible experience, the fact of having the same car and seeing how capable it is, makes it even more incredible hahaha 🔥🔥🔥
I love this channel and among the great videos on it, this is my favourite. Of course, the lap is great to watch, but I also loved hearing Andrea's philosophy about the car (it is disposable, it is fast enough with these mods) and about trying to achieve a great lap... I also have the feeling that sometimes, it feels like "work" when you are trying to beat your personal best time on a track you know well, but when I look back on the days when I was struggling to be fast, I still remember those days as great fun, and as a move forward towards my goal of that "dream lap". Well done OLH.

Great driver who knows the car's limits. He barely goes on the edge: the tires doesn't scream often so there are a 'safety backup' for him and the car. I have an IS200 for daily use with coilovers, stronger sways and a front lower reinforcment. Wish i could drive like this on the Nordschleife...
The original video of this IS200 putting in a super aggressive lap of the ring was how I found OLH, it's great to learn more about the car and driver as I am also building an IS, seeing him hit 1.5+ Gs in the corners is inspiring! Would Gatti still recommend the same spring rate front and back if the car is still at full weight? I am guessing the balance is changed a lot with stripping the interior and going to a fibreglass bonnet

Did he also do something to improve throttle response and rev hang of this motor ? He seems to be able to shift fast... Which is unusual for this car...

@@notimetoexpIain I would argue that no F1 driver worth his salt would drive ANYWHERE near the commitment of Gatti due to the skewed risk-reward ratio. The nurburgring is a track that rewards bravery over technique as most corners are very fast. Having said all this, a F1 driver is still a better driver than Gatti, me, Kostas and even Serxio
Respect man but take care of your car. I have 99 is 200 manual i just bough its crap condition over 580000 km but i do agree that it drives so predictable and gives a joy cruising on the curves but not good power though
Basically it works like this. If the drivetrain is stock or mostly stock then it qualifies as basic. Although the car is extensively modified in other areas.
This driver is faster than his own car. Easier to achieve a fast time with slick tires, good suspension. No need for this extreme weight reduction. The carpet could be onboard and help insulating the cold, the noise from the engine and road.
This car is used almost exclusively on track and slicks are generally not allowed. Beside, all things being equal a stripped out car on slicks will be faster than a non stripped out one on slicks.

Im using similar setup but with full interiot - decided to go 18/16. It is pretty good balance, but what gave me more handling feeling is sway bar
Have you guys considered using roll centre adjusters? It should allow you to soften the sway bars and increase overall grip

Hmm I think you are referring to Industry laps which are inclusive of the main straight, so add approx 30s to this lap

you know there are a lot of pads between ebc whatever and Endless that are much cheaper than Endless but still really good pads...
Andrea tested many and he feels happy with Endless, probably the only expensive part on the car with the tires. Good places to spend money anyway.
