The Fastest Honda Civic To Ever Lap The 'Ring? -

- We know we didn't fit the word STOCK in the title, as every self-respecting #Nurburgring onboard video should these days, and it is a pity! Funnily enough at the core of this home-built turbo EG, that drove all the way from Barcelona to the 'Ring, is a stock #Honda Accord K24. However as you can imagine the list of modifications needed to create a 400 HP - 1050 kg track monster is rather extensive!
You have questions? Having the patience to go through the first part of the video will reward you with answers to most of them. For those that just want to see the onboard, ffwd to the 10:00 mark. However eventually you will want to know why this thing is so fast and you will end up watching the build breakdown as well. So save yourself the trouble and watch the whole thing!
While you might think we are sharing the video because the lap is one of the fastest Honda laps we've seen in a long time the truth is that what we actually love is the OLH spirit behind the build. Quality parts mixed smartly with cheap budget parts for the maximum performance per euro. Zero f*cks attitude when it comes to the car's appearance and #FullSend on track. Then is the fact that Enric does all the mechanical work on the car himself. Everything from assembling the drivetrain to the actual engine tuning (he is also behind the tune of most fast #Kswap cars in Barcelona). And the very few things that Enric didn't do himself are done by good friends. There's a lot of Honda Civic Supercars nowadays. A 850+hp AWD Civic is a Supercar to me. Hell even a FWD or a custom RWD 1,000hp Civic with functional aerodynamics = Supercar.
That FELT like the fastest lap of all time.
Here's someone who has mastered driving an EG Civic chassis. This onboard cam really does a good job of giving depth perception and I can tell the car was pushed to it's limit. Props !!

For real! This is one of the best POVs I've seen in a while.
Can you tell if he was left foot braking? I want to know what technique he uses to prevent lift-off over-steer. He has softer rear spring settings and harder front spring settings F:20kg R:18kg, so that means he's adjusting the suspension to combat over-steer and I'm assuming the low understeer under acceleration is due to a very well adjusted Limited Slip Differential.
He is a excellent driver, he knows how to drive a vtec turbo fwd 400hp/1050kg civic around the ring in 7:28 compared to factory 306hp?/1500+ fk8 ctr 7:43. But I reckon the guys on the kanjo style runs in Asia eg Japan/Indonesia/Malaysia /Hong Kong ect are the best at driving tuned honda's on track and street, crazy real life fast and furious Street racing with traffic.

That car is absolutely mental, and even more so the driver. To build a car like this, the great mind and work that it takes, to take it all the way on such a long trip, and for someone that is not a local, that was a great lap. Hats off, man.
But it isn't a Honda Civic. It's a parts bin special with a big motor.

HulaBalo Beginners fear oversteer, experienced drivers fear understeer. If I oversteer, at least I’m pointed into the corner, and slowing down from sliding all 4 tires, with understeer, there is less slowing, and I still need to change the direction the car is both pointing, and going. 😁

@@cheyenne202 It depends how you know the limits of the car. Overstear can be corrected much easier, however, if the car starts understearing a little you know that it is at the maximum speed in that corner. If you fly into corner with too much speed you will crash anyways...
@@username8644 Well, if a person isn't comfortable with a bit of over or under steer, they probably shouldn't be doing 200 kph in the first place...or even 110...

Its because of the lsd final drive. The stock final drive would break and you would probably torque steer off the road without it at 380hp.

yes, everything is pointing to that, we saw in the kpro datalog that the behaviour is the same so is not a dash issue, maybe @HondataInc can throw some light on this

@@HonDashcomi think its like mylan said. 8 bit would end at 255 starting at 0. thats 256 values. it goes 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, and finally 256 thats with 8 Bit.
it could go to 512 if you only count every second speed value but i think 255 is kmh is more reasonable than 512

Dude I know! My chocolate covered star fish puckers up a few times there. This guy has balls of steel for sure and a lot of faith in his car and skills. Near the end (@17:52) there was one that I think gave him a little scare also because the car started skipping towards the outer edge while under steering.

What a ride. I can’t believe how much grip the front end has also. It’s very impressive, the tires aren’t overly massive and the front end isn’t pushed down with massive time attack aero. You can just feel the back end sliding out

It is hard to drive a slow car fast, it is even harder to drive a fast car fast while being at the very edge of what the car is capable of!! That was an amazing lap!! Watch and learn. Smooth steering inputs(no sawing at the wheel), smooth throttle input, and the right chassis/power/traction combo show how great the driver and car are. It’s just amazing!!!
Excellent build. I think the car was exceptionally good. Another example of simplicity combined with refined thinking. Kudos to you guys. You probably can shave a few seconds with the same setup and driver. I have no idea what are these people talking about saying " that understeer!". The car is rather neutral, consider 400 N.m of torque to the front wheels, it handles better than most cars I have seen.

This is absolute perfection tuition for me on the sim when am on the ring the braking points and gearing alot the corners iwas taking in third with a car of near similar power but seeing in 4th at that point made alot sense to roll it thru with the power instead of disrupting and shifting down another gear this is great
True but it depends on the engine. A k24 is fairly low revving and with a turbo has loads of torque. If it was a K20 N/A you'd probably gear down and use the power band up top.

Wow, so to be clear that's a 7:28.9 BTG lap, not the full lap like OEM's do. For perspective, it shows you how fast some OEM modern cars really are. 2017 CTR did full lap in 7:43, which would be a BTG time of something in the range of 7:10 or so. While this car is fast, there is a lot to be gained in the handling by getting the rear to rotate. Impressive for an old Civ...wish it were a B though...lol

I bought a european ep3 type-r and am so sorry of not have bought a old eg and kswaped it. Now i have about 7 degrees of caster wich helps alot, but the eg is still about 100 kilos lighter
