    I don't how many of the truck mechanics have ever torn much motorcycle and ATV engines apart, but they have a so much better solution to crank case vents that I've just never seen in the automotive world.
    Canam uses like 4way t style fitting on the inside of the engine geared to the crank, it spins flinging all the oil out of the crank case vent. Suzuki I've seen used a box separator like you buy aftermarket for some trucks, except it has a permanent drain line going back into the case so you don't have to drain it. A few other Japanese engines just use complex series of baffles cast into the case so oil doesn't get into the vent lines.

    Crazy to to think when I switched to wrenching on semi trucks I thought to my self why ford never put in replaceable ccv filters, damn near every semi has one and part of regular maintenance. Didn’t think my dream would come true and become such an issue. It’s ok though made a bunch of money swapping them out when I went back to wrenching on fords 😂

    Hmmm, it would be interesting to see what kind of efficiency you would get if you could mount the cheese grater at the valve cover output, then this on top using an adapter to dump what little oil left back in the motor, still using intake vacuum to aid ventilation.

    • @ashleemattearl

      I was thinking SPE cheese grater under the new style CCV box than rerouted externally, obviously have to put a spacer on the drain back port, so the CCV box sits flush, this would have to product next to no fumes i am thinking.

      I'm running 100cc of two cycle for every 16 quarts of diesel fuel as diesel today has zero lubrication this is my own preference not suggested that anyone else do this. But along with other regular diesel fuel conditioners, my 6.4 seems quieter and runs smoother. I also lowered my low-boost fuel from the number 3 position to the # 2 position on the tuner. This has improved the black smoke on start-ups and in stop-and-go traffic. Just something I am toying with I'm not responsible for any damages if you follow this procedure. Just saying a little more lube in the upper cylinder and going through the high-pressure fuel pump shouldn't harm anything. Should it 🤔

    I have a 17 6.7 and I'm just about to replace mine at 120k. Mine does not have the screws on top just a sealed unit so not sure if it's a filter or baffle. I got truck at 50k and I have a small upper oil pan leak now suspecting the ccv and it was probably never replaced. But still better to swap out and cause more damage. How often does Ford recommend replacing CCV?

  • @powerhoghp
    @powerhoghp Год назад +1

    The ccp sensor may be equipped on the high output 6.7 option in the 2023s, as a protection measure to derate the truck. Could also be used in the iOLM strategy to corroborate calculated engine load. As far as the one-time use hoses, it may be an emissions tampering deterrent or to ensure proper sealing ford one of the strategies. One concern with not replacing the tube if flagged as one-time use, if one needed to SPW a repair (of a cp or wty repair) and it was not replaced, there is the potential for a claim rejection - never seen it, but is allegedly possible.

  • @mikz86ta1

    So there's 4 different ones now? I had prior heard about the one with top bolts, supposed to be serviceable and the tampons inside for steel bodies. But my 16 had the revised non-service sealed top one. Which I am unclear if they need changing or are a lifetime unit with no issues. Hmm.
    Now we see a new version bolt top and an even newer version sealed top.

    • @CPsGarage
      @CPsGarage Год назад +1

      Only ones that had a replaceable filter was 17- 18. The steel body trucks didn't have filters in them. These new ones are much cheaper as well. Dealer cost on this are $49 compared to the other ones are over $100.

    • @gilbertrodriguez9471
      @gilbertrodriguez9471 10 месяцев назад +2

      I agree. I believe ARod has said the filtered bolt top was first, then replaced with a new version thats non serviceable sealed top (which is what my 2015 has in it.) Then the newer trucks came with a newer filterless bolt top, and now those are replaced with the small one in this video. So i just saw another video from another flrd mechanic saying to change your ccv bc they get plugged. He shows it very swollen and its the same one i have in my truck which is filterless, so my question is how did that one get plugged up if it doesnt have a filter. And do i need to change mine to a newer version or is it a "lifetime" oil separator?

    For simplicity. Lets call this fords catch can. After years of being imbarest by running the engine internal sewage back through the filtered cold air intake and into the combustion chamber. Turning your engine into a sewage treatment incinerator lowering the quality of the air fuel ratio efecting the HP, the MPG and over all engine performance while lowering the longevity of the engine. I say better but the sewage is still going back into the crankcase lowering the quality of the oil contaminating baring serfices, seals and gaskits also increasing crank case pressure putting undue forces on seals and gaskets. This isn't rocket science. This simply needs more serfice area like stainless steel wool and a couple of inline colection reservoirs. That can be easly removed and cleaned at regular servicing schedules
