    Dr. Jayaprakash,
I believe you you are missing an important perspective behind the reason why people contemplate taking Saw Palmetto + Finasteride.
First of all, Saw Palmetto is not a medication drug, it’s a Supplement.
Second, the perspective is that since Finasteride is a PARTIAL DHT blocker, could Saw Palmetto potentially be used to block any of the remaining amounts of the 5-ARE, which converts to DHT, that Finasteride was not able to block?
Essentially using this Finasteride + Saw Palmetto strategy to MAXIMIZE your DHT blocking treatment.

And also increase your risk of side effects.

He completely understands that and he's saying that the effect that Saw Palmetto has when you take Finasteride is negligible, i.e., worthless. Finasteride is much, much more potent than Saw Palmetto, assuming the latter has some efficacy. So you can take it, but why take more when you can take less. That's his point.

Saw Palmetto at best brings DHT down around 30% whereas Finasteride brings it down 70%. However taking both will not be 30+70%. It just means the initial 30% is taken care of. I do believe the Saw Palmetto works and perhaps can be used if cycling off the Finasteride or if the MPB isn't aggressive.

I will never understand idiots like you. Finasteride alone can make you impotent and have horrible side effects down the line. Do you really want to risk those PERMANENT adverse reactions of a drug that is being given i.e. to men transitioning into female for HAIR????? I've had 3 hair transplants in my life + now I'm on LLLT, dermastamp, Regenepure and other NATURAL ways to deal with hair loss, but I would never take Finasteride.

You are so much like Dr Shail Gupta from Delhi, India. He also advocates taking less medications.

if both do same thing essentially, then go with the more natural alternatives, every time! And less chance of negative sides.

Does the same thing but doesn’t block nearly as much 5AR as fin. Fin blocks around 70% of DHT

@@pagenotfound- You’d be better off taking a lower dose of finasteride. There’s never been any evidence that’s shown saw palmetto to work, but there has been with lower doses of finasteride.

Also based on some research I have found that Saw Palmetto is effective in blocking about 50% of DHT.
If Finasteride is effective in about 86% of men within the 1st year, is it possible that the introduction of Saw Palmetto supplementation can reduce some of the remaining +/-14% of DHT left behind by Finasteride?

don't waste your time with saw palmetto

    • @cteda
      @cteda Год назад +17

Wasn’t a waste for me 🤷‍♂️ I took finasteride for 10 years and I was beginning to see loss of libido and other side effects. I was also getting up to pee at night so I switched to Saw Palmetto and Pumpkin oil. I’ve been taking it daily for over a year and my hair is thicker, libido is great and I sleep through every night. Also when I pee it’s to completion no dribbles afterwards. So if you’re in your 40s and experiencing negative side effects from longterm finasteride, saw palmetto is definitely worth your time

When do u see results with saw palmetto? Am 43 and started to thin at front and bit of mid scalp. when light flashes on my head you can see the scalp. I think it’s cos of the oils I used. I have been taking saw palmetto now for 1 and half month.

@@abhisheknagar704 If you are ok with testing and risk losing the hair then use saw palmetto for a few more months. Or if your hair loss is aggressive and you cannot risk losing hair for a few more months then use finasteride.
Personally I lost too much hair that's why I didn't have the opportunity to test saw palmetto. So I just started finasteride directly.

Saw Palmetto helped me. I never needed to take Finasteride. However it depends on how aggressive the MPB is.
