    Hi Dale @btgmoto, would you suggest the Tuareg as first bike? I have a full licence but just a Vespa GTS 300, I'm liking the idea of having a bike to go very slow :D Weekend trips, some light off-road..

    • @btgmoto
      @btgmoto  14 дней назад +1

      I'd say it's a great first bike. Really easy to ride. Only thing that might be an issue is seat height. It's not enduro bike tall, but it's not low. Most "beginner" bikes tend towards shortness. Personally I'd say better to learn on this tho

    Dunlop TrailMax Raid, Heidenau K60 Ranger, Tusk 2Track from Rocky Mountain ATV: I am personally running these currently; off-road is exceptional and on road is quite good, MOTOZ TIRES are, in my opinion, the best adv tires. They make a DUAL VENTURE front tire that can be reversed. You can choose between the Tractionator Adventure Tire or the Tractionator Rallz tire. The later being the more aggressive off-road rear tire.

    I have the tuareg too, 14000km.
    I like it a lot too.
    But if I have to be neat picky, I’d say :
    - wind protection ; depending on your height, you may need a taller windscreen or a deflector (deflector in my case for 175cm)
    - seat confort ; it’s good, but after a long day, my ass starts to hurt. I think I’ll be looking for a confort seat (or accessory that will do that job)
    - good suspension but you need to set them up properly (harder imho).
    I love the sound too, but I’m thinking of changing the exhaust (while keeping the cata because I don’t want to bother people).
    I have the ax41 tires. They are really good on road. Off-road they perform quite good too for 50/50 tires. I do more road that off-road, so I might change tires for something a little more road oriented while being off-road ready. The stock tires (rally STR) were really good imo, but I want to try something else.
    Cheers.

    • @btgmoto
      @btgmoto  6 месяцев назад +1

      - screen, I changed to a tall one, then changed back again because I hate looking through it at the trail or the road
      - seat, I understand!
      - suspension, I've not had any problems at all. Very adjustable, can work on road and off road at my speeds (so far!)

    Really enjoying my Tuareg. What exhaust are you running? (It sure doesn’t sound like my stock exhaust). Wheelies, I get a motor hesitation when I do them depending on the riding mode. What mode works best for you and are you shutting off traction control as well? Appreciate any feedback, I love to wheelie around my buddies with their heavy bikes

    I've found the STR tyres to be pretty awful off-road but pretty good on-road. It's odd because they look as if they'll be decent off-road. The lateral grip seems to be the problem, which makes sense when you study the tread.

    The 660 engine is not "restricted". It's tuned for torque instead of horsepower.. 70Nm instead of 45Nm. Torque is what really drives a motorcycle.

    • @btgmoto
      @btgmoto  5 месяцев назад

      It's definitely a different tune, and makes more torque and earlier too. But it's not double, it's just a couple of Nm more, and much lower down

    I have the Karoo 4 on the Tuareg and they are great.
    Windscreen was an issue too. Bought the IRS from Italy, standard height but wider towards the bottom. Made a big difference, no more turbulence and on longer trips the upper body and legs are wind protected.
    Factory Hand guards are rubbish too. Dropped the bike on the first ride off road, had to turn it around whilst still on the ground. Handguard broke, so did the brake leaver. Was a fun ride home... Got Acerbis - all good now.

    I rode 2000km on a rented GS with Karoo4 tyres in Andalucía. Great on and off tyre. Can now comment on the wet capabilities as tarmac was dry and off road was dry (and dusty) but I really liked the tyres and we were not going slowly.
    I have a test drive scheduled for the Touareg.

      Thanks for the sub! Black forest is mega. I live at the 'Ring so you'll have to send me a message if you want any help.
      Engine on the 660 is fine for relaxed 2-up riding, my boys love it. But the GS was a whole different level. That bike road almost as well 2-up as a 1-up.
      I'd describe the 660 as more than adequate for 2-up, but less than excellent

      @@btgmoto thanks for that, I may w well drop you a message as it all seems very complex at the ring, at a rough guess it will be a Sunday we will go to the ring, on our way to the main hotel. 👍
