Thanks for watching!
Very nice but I have decided that I prefer the 604! That was the one with the L shaped lounge that converts to a dinette? I do love these Airstreams though so stylish! I shall keep my fingers & everything else crossed for you for baby coming home! This was a great series of vids but then it's what we've come to expect from the maestro! Thank you for all your hard work and expertise which we all enjoy immensely! What's next?! Can't wait for the next one! Lots of love and hugs xxx
It's always a pleasure to hear from you and Dougal. Hope you are having a wonderful summer.
Thanks - you too! :)
We had one of the last 684’s off Paul about a year ago before the slight facelift and we prefer the minimalist interior too.
What I really like about the 25ib is the higher chassis, larger wheels, larger wash room and the grey water storage and extra cold water storage.
Another lovely review, keep them coming.
Thank you - and I'm envious about your 684! But that's the last Airstream walk-through for now, as we have run out of UK models. Maybe Armin will have something interesting when (crossed fingers) I head to Airstream Germany in a couple of weeks. Cheers!
Hi Andrew and Dougal, thanks for another great review. I don’t like it as much as the other ones but I’m not quite sure why. The wash room is good though.
Interesting the differences between European and American models. That has an aluminum base, we have a steel one, there’s a bar/handrail on the front. Great video Andrew! Thanks!
If your term "base" means frame, I think the UK Airstream frame is made of galvanized steel. I noticed many improvements in the euro Airstream when compared to the US one, maybe they should think to export them in the States!
@@charlevoix418 LOL! True! And they have! The composite flooring is here now, so less wood rot!
Thank you for these reviews; nice to see you out and about again. My first thought about this model is what if someone sleeping on the sofa wants to go to the loo in the middle of the night? Climb over the bed sleepers' feet? Hmm....
Thank you so much Andrew for all this vidéos about airstream caravan. 👍
I don t think i will ever own one but Who knows if i win the lottery 😀
But i am very happy with my hobby caravan 🥳
Big kisses from France 🇨🇵
Bonne chance mon ami - j'espère que tu chois de bons nombres pour le lotto!

hey Andrew ...... thx for that video .... a few small changes and that's mine :-) greetz Carsten
No problem 👍
Great video as always Andrew, thanks 😊
Great review Andrew, only ............From £91,995 if only I was born a minute ago
Hi Andrew. Just an idea. It would be really good if you could do an interview with someone who has got an old Airstream van and let them go through their findings like and dislikes. The older the better in the UK if you can find one. Cheers from old George 👍🤠🐕🇬🇧
Hi Andrew you have owned an Airstream for many years. Just wondering how these Van's cope with salt and corrosion we get in the UK during winter etc. Also condensation as I didn't see any way of extracting steam, moisture in shower cubicle. Lastly do they do a version that doesn't have a rolling chassis for permanent siting. Cheers from old George in the UK 👍🐕🇬🇧
Hi George, all Airstreams have an extractor fan in the washroom. There are none specifically made for permanent siting, maybe look for a used one? A working chassis will more than pay for itself just in cheaper transport costs to your property.
@@andrewjditton Many thanks Andrew for your reply. Fully understood. Cheers from George and Jane. Kisses to Dougal. 👫🤠👍🐈🐕
Great review, not for me, never seen an airstream that I like!
Fair enough!
Beautiful 👌
I like the layout of this one the best. And surprisingly, I like the triangular reflectors. I think they go well with the retro look of the Airstream.
However, even the Elddis Xplore 304 is beyond my budget, so I guess I am not their target audience. I suppose I will have to be content with admiring it from afar.
No worries Neale, don't forget that the CAMC hires them out at Brighton under their Experience Freedom brand, so you could always go and enjoy one for a few nights!
Aha, mystery resolved! 🙂
It’s gorgeous
It might be just me but you didn’t sound too keen. And as for Dougal, well he was underwhelmed.
Cheers Keith. I freely admit to preferring the fresher interior styling of the other 3 models, but it's not just about what I want... ;)
Andrew, any idea what the plastic receptacle is? The one hanging on the wall of the wardrobe at 08 : 30
It is seemingly filled with a reddish coloured liquid?
That'll be the glycol fluid for the Alde Central heating system - it's heated in the boiler and circulates through the radiators. Thanks for watching.
Never been convinced about this one, wonderful presentation of it of course though! Pretty sure it’s the 19CB Caravel for me though would prefer it a little narrower and not sold in the UK or Europe so that’s a pipe dream anyway! ;-) Mind you those wrap around windows are so good I’d like them both front and rear so would have to downsize to 16FB or go much larger…
A little birdie told me that they are working on 'Europeanising' some of the smaller US models, so watch this space Becky!
@@andrewjditton oooooooooooooooooo YAY!!!!! and a female tester is definitely needed for balance... I wonder who would volunteer herself for consideration if only she had a decent following... I'd best get to work on that then ;-)
Hi Dougal and Andrew, great video as always. I am just curious when you went in to the bathroom and opened the shower I saw a cupboard to the left of the shower door. Does this go down to the floor or is there a large waste of space as the shower didn’t seem to go all the way to the rear wall of the van.
Have the same question but seems to be a locker door outside I did not investigate on site
I see what you mean now, a door on the rear end.
Yes, sorry Rob, I didn't go into that in enough detail. I really just wanted to pinpoint the main differences between the models, as I didn't have the time to do a full review on all four.
@@andrewjditton not a problem, thanks for coming back to me.
Did the screws on the bed controls look like they were protruding and not fully screwed in place?
Hi Andrew! Am I missing something but why would anyone pay so much for an Airstream when you could buy 3 quality British or European twin axle trailers for the same money and end up with better quality fittings in a superior package? And it was probably a good job that the caravan was not powered up because that electric bed looked like it would probably extend to the opposite sidewall so nobody could get past it. The benefit of the extra width of the body was completely negated by the rather silly television enclosure. Tacky is the word that springs to mind.
Whilst in my opinion, I do agree with you, I think Airstream at this price does have a place. It's an iconic caravan and for those that value that and want it for themselves, it's probably worth the extra cost. I know Andrew has one himself for that very reason if I remember correctly.
I think dougal is the luckiest doggie in the whole world!!
I think he might disagree with you - he never smiles! :)
@@andrewjditton Dougal shows great restraint and is so precious!!! I love his subdued demeanor/demeanour!!
I still prefer the 604. The weight of this caravan means you're now in the realm of dodge ram (5.9ton)or Ford f150 (5.7 ton) towing capacity.
Great washroom and the door is on the UK side ironically for the most American looking van you say. Pointless no space when that beds out and far to heavy and costly.
Great video to round out the compare and contrast airstream series (sounds like a exam question) - Myself and wife visited Lowdhams early July to look at a used 684 but ended up having a look at the 604 (wife’s preference) and the 25IB (mine). That said I had some silver bullet tinted googles on for the IB as I’d forgotten the timber veneer interior (too much wood) and some of the fit and finish (albeit a early/original UK version) - My takeaways washroom basin too small (euro version has a “fruit bowl version) What’s in that space behind the show on the left?? Bedroom agree on closet space but like the televator . Kitchen - sink for a change too big ! Conversely hide the mucky plate till later!! Can’t recall if it had the hose tap/faucet some units have - microwave needed indeed a combi oven system better. Lounge/diner happy. Externally few things struck - waste water seemed to be the US grey water pipe ? no prob can adapt some fittings. Wondering why European models don’t have the rear bumper/store and yes those warning triangles are sub optimal. Yes the weight was apparent (8 lug axles are a clue) and the height - why not the US double steps?
So after this video I still have the desire for a airstream and I’m keeping my truck for the 22 season but I am keen to see a FB mid wash rear lounge (sounds like the upsized 604 with a non transverse bed ) with a hatch door - Airstream are you listening? And tone back the wood please unless it’s a Tommy B
Ha! Great observations David! Although I'm afraid I have sobering news. The 'Rest of World' product that Airstream sells outside North America is less than the volume that a small dealership in a US backwater would sell... so the R&D funding for lots of new Rest of World models just isn't there, and then of course you have the difficulties of building a non-standard (non-US) trailer once every 100 trailers on the line...
Looks like I may need a new works contract abroad again - stock was never a option for us anyway (argh the puns!)
Just checked and even a Rolls Royce Phantom is only 2,600kg! You'd need an actual HGV tractor to tow this safely, really, wouldn't you?
lol , even a discovery / range rover / Q7 / any other large 4*4 luxury suv would struggle
My car’s kerb weight is 1700 kg. I can buy this as long as I tow it in reverse.
HA HA! Love your logic there! :)
Are you working as a salesman for Airstream on a permanent basis ?
Haha! That would involve payment - I WISH! No, I figured it would be good to put my unique (in the UK) Airstreaming knowledge to good use and help people choose between the four available.
Would a rangerover discovery tow this?
Maximum towing (kg) 3,500
A discovery 4 will tow 3500 with a nose weight of 250kg (with an aftermarket tow bar, DO NOT USE the detachable one there have been many incidents)The discovery 5 is nearly 300kg lighter and does not tow as good.
We have just got a 684 with weight upgrade and it tows lovely.
@@DaleRC75 Sorry John, but if the towing vehicle manufacturer says that 3500kg is the maximum towing capacity then that is the figure the law takes as the legal limit for that vehicle. Anything else is just recommendation or opinion. The Gross train weight is also used, but this can barely be exceeded on these vehicles in normal use with a UK spec caravan.
Sorry when you went in thought it looked tacky and they wasted the space potential and the red triangle is waiting for accident of someone whom slip and take a eye out or more serious to that. The cooker is a flop there isn't that wow factor. They as go back to the drawing board. Sorry for my negative comments. Anyway have safe travels and be well.
Nigel, everyone is entitled to an opinion! If people weren't honest then nobody would have a clue if their products were on the right track or not. Ultimately it will be down to whether or not this model sells. Personally, I'd have preferred to see the re-introduction of the 422 Bambi that could be towed by a VW Golf, but it simply didn't sell when it was in the line-up, so you just never know what's going to work and what isn't. Cheers!
is it just me who thinks the layout is daft ?? if someone is sleeping in the main bed , anybody sleeping in the diner bed who needs a night-time pee has to squeeze past
I'm with you, but it's one of the top-selling layouts in the UK. I don't get it either, but we're all different.
what boring colours inside and the wood panel look inside is dull. I would never buy an airstream there are too many other models just as good and far more interesting colour schemes inside.
Nice review but I don't like this layout. One person has to crawl over the other to get into bed and one person has to crawl over the other to use the bathroom at night.
My sentiments entirely Mary. It's not just unique to Airstream, almost every UK caravan with this layout will have the same issue.
As strange as this may sound, but this Airstream is too American. I.e., not really suitable for Europeans in terms of towing. Naturally, there will be a select few who will be appreciate it so in that respect, it is good that there is a choice for that segment of the market than not being available at all.
If I looked well, there is also no garage....👎
Much wasted space, and you pay for it.
