- I am a traveling Radiology Tech that came out to California in June of 2021. After living in a couple houses that never felt like "home," I am thrilled to now have a place to call home! Full time RV living as a solo healthcare traveler will not be easy by any means, but I am up for the challenge!
Although I have prepared thoroughly for this endeavor, many curve balls have already been thrown my way. One of which happened on my first day out! I promise to keep it real with you guys by showing all of the GOOD and the BAD of this lifestyle.
I'm so excited to share this new lifestyle of mine with the world and greatly appreciate your support! PLEASE feel free to post any advice you may have in the comments. If you prefer to private message me instead, my email and social media are down below.
Shout out to Dan at Oregon Wood Slabyrinth in Eugene, OR for pulling through with those beautiful slabs of English Walnut! Check him out at oregonwoodslabyrinth.com and feel free to reach out to him if you’re in the area and want to take a look at his inventory. 541-350-3996
I can’t say enough good things about my Weigh-Safe hitch. I love knowing that the weight is distributed correctly based on my trailer weight and specific measurements. It actually comes with an app that calculates the Distributed Tongue Weight for you. Then you just adjust the scale to your desired DTW, and boom, you’re set to safely tow!

My kettle is made by Fellow! (Many if you have been asking.) I love that I can make coffee with no electricity or bulky coffee maker. And the temp gauge allows you to make it just how you like it! ☕️

Thank you SO much for watching and don't forget to subscribe for future airstream content & adventures!

'Til next time! 😊✌️
Sarah, you continue to grow your experience by making mistakes, troubleshooting, and researching. No one on your comments can tell you how to gain your own experience in life. Continue to staying strong willed and courageous. Continue to look for answers and mess up here and there. This is the only way to grow. You should be proud of yourself and never let anyone tell you that you don't belong on the road. I'm so glad that you are gaining so much from this period in your life. Definitely not an easy thing to do. Don't stop no matter what. And don't ever forget to give yourself credit.
Hi 👋 Stephanie, how are you doing?
Wow, seeing you drive, hitch & park the airstream all by yourself makes me think I could do it too... thank you!! 😍
Hello how are you doing?
You inspire me!
Congrats Sarah! Even with your travel buddy please consider a personal safety and security course with a police department. I admire your adventure and courage, I have two girls (young ladies) and a father never stops thinking about them
What a nag

Airstream looks amazing. The prices tho. $43,100 for a Basecamp model to more than $179,000 for a Classic model. The new Pottery Barn 2022 model starts at $157,700. 😳😵💫
@@sebs30v I'm glad you would rather see a lady injured or k1lled
My husband and I don’t own airstream but recently went from a bumper pull camping trailer to a 5th wheel. That has been a HUGE learning curve. Things do get easier as you go along and find out what works best you. Have fun on your journey 😀
Good looking Airstream. I've been living in a travel trailer for 5 years now. A piece of advice to make life easier, purchase a battery powered drill such as a Milwaukee. Take the tool they gave you to raise and lower the stabilizer legs and cut about 8"+ of the end off. Insert that into you drill. Saves a lot of time when setting up or moving your trailer. Safe travels.
Or buy the same size socket in the RV dept at Walmart or Amazon!
@@jbjlock26 Yep -- don't cut the end off the tool (you'll need it when your cordless drill battery dies). Just spend the $8 to get the stabilizer jack socket for the drill. The drill definitely does save a some time and cranking effort though.
OMG! I am so excited to follow you. I used to have an old Airstream and would LOVE a new one to do what you are doing. You go girl! We are all cheering you you on :) U GOT THIS!
Hi how are you doing?
I've had my Airstream for 15 years and I still love it
I don't think I've ever seen a new airstream before. It is beautiful! So glad you got the problem fixed right away. Look forward to following your adventures! Safe travels!
I’m glad you saw that broken piece.
June 20, 2022: Happy for you.....stay safe! Amarillo, TX
Sarah, you are smart, strong & courageous. Good call on the welding shop fix, safety first. My wife & I are on our second Airstream and love the lifestyle. This coming from an ex-backpacker who wore his knees out. Embrace & enjoy. Next purchase, a Solo stove!
Flying Cloud in Alabama.
Welcome to RV/ Camper/ Boat ownership. You get a little time between repairs and it’s a learning curve with all thee above! 🤠🤟🏼
You are one amazing independent individual female! I could not IMAGINE going on a journey from California to Oregon to pick up AND drive back with a mainstream travel trailer attached to the back of your vehicle!! WOW, I am so impressed! Good for you!
Congrats! I highly recommend that that you test every outlet, USB port, open all compartments (under bed and seats, outside storage and rear bumper). I took possession of my 2021 Caravel in August and it's been to the dealership more that at campsites. It has had over $5k of repair work do to very poor workmanship from the factory. Hot water unit does not work, shower and closet walls delaminating, USB ports that don't work, storage cabinet door runs hanging loose, power box under dining seat not secure, stove top not secure, rear bumper components rusted, power jack not fused correctly, and more. I'm very disappointed in the lack of workmanship and integrity from Airstream factory. I hope you have better results.
We were looking at Airstreams and decided not to purchase because of the quality concerns. Luxury prices for some questionable build quality and lower end fixtures and features. We were sad. Glad we made the right choice though. Thanks for this info.
GOOD FOR YOU………A NEW AIRSTREAM………ENJOY YOUR LIFE, STAY SAFE…… HAPPY TRAILS🍓🥂
How exciting! Congratulations! We have a Flying Cloud and absolutely love it!
Congratz Sarah, you are my inspiration, Right NOW!!!
Congratulations....it is beautiful! Us Nurses ROCK!!!!
Welcome to the Airstream family💕 Please be careful on highways with such a small tow vehicle. Also, for safety reasons you need trailer breaks. Sign up to Airstream groups and you will learn how to stay safe and enjoy your stream for many years!
Hi there! I used a wireless break controller that seemed to perform well on I-5. Will definitely check out the groups! Thanks so much!
I was thinking the same thing, I do believe that she is exceeding the towing capacity of the Rav4 by a little bit.
She may end up regretting overtaxing it down the road.
@@RiverRatWA57 Hey there, thanks for your concern, but it’s a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I am towing well within my capacity. 😊
@@NomadicSarah Oh, sorry, I thought I heard RAV4, I stand corrected.
@@RiverRatWA57 6200 pounds towing capacity! Easy peasy for the Jeep Grand Cherokee!
Great airstream!! I love it and everything you went through is well worth it..
Enjoy and make some memories!!
Congratulations on your new "traveling Home"! I think you made a wise choice with the "Airstream" travel trailer, as they are top quality! stay safe, and have make some great memories.
Welcome to our Airstream family. It’s always exciting for us “Streamers” to welcome someone who shares our love of these incredible travel trailers.
Super story telling: beautiful and informative!!
This is so great! We bought our Airstream from the same exact dealer, and had our walk-through with the same woman, in Eugene almost exactly one year to the day before you did! We picked ours up on February 13, 2021. Congratulations!! Your life is going to change in so many amazing ways.
No way!! That's so amazing! Hope to see you on the road one day!
If you're still in San Jose, we're also sort of neighbors. Our home base is San Francisco when we're not traveling. But yes, one day maybe we'll see each other out on the road!
Congrats on your trailer. I was looking at your floor plan & it was a lot like my 1st trailer. You're going to have so much fun with that thing. You'd be surprised how warm they are too. I did 2 blizzards with mine. Keep extra fuses/ breakers on hand. Go have fun. Drive safe.🤠🤠
My parents had an Airstream when I was a teen. We would go out 52 weekends of the year, even with my six month old baby sister. We were always snug as bugs in a rug.
Green wirh envy!!🙏😭♥️
Hi Sarah, just discovered your channel. Love the Airstream! I’m a retired healthcare professional and I spent much of my career as a traveler/contractor in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. You’re doing a great with your videos.
I would do travel nursing in a heartbeat if I had a camper. I'm truly jealous. I always wanted to work along the Pacific Coast and Alaska. Good luck. 👍🇺🇸
First time viewing your video. I taught for the military at the Academy of Health Sciences and I retired from my second career doing MRI, worked in 5 different modalities as well. I hope your career is as rewarding as mine was. Because you are Rad Tech I took interest in your purchases of the jeep and trailer to insure that you could pull everything without creating a strain on the transmission. Sorry for acting as a concerned parent but I see you did your homework, good luck in your journey through life. If you were my grand daughter I would be very proud of you, heck I'm proud of you anyway. You possess great courage and intelligence at such a young age.
Thank you so much for your kind words!
You handled the new challenges really well. Thanks for sharing. And congratulations on the purchase!
Congratulations. So happy for you.
Congratulations! We bought our Airstream in February 2021. We absolutely love it! Happy Airstream trails.
Hi 👋 Linda, how are you doing?
And I noticed that you bought your Airstream from the best here in Eugene! George Sutton!!! They are amazing and kind. I have lived in this area for about 50 years and they have stood the test of time at being the best!! Glad you came up here to purchase it....(Airstreams are the best :) ) and to see our gorgeous state :) Excited to follow your adventures :)
Hey,congrats on the Airstream. Just found your channel. I am a retired RN and was a travel nurse for 10yrs! It was the best memories of my career and single life. I saw so many cool places in the US and met so many wonderful people. We actually traveled a bit in a camper also. Have fun! Best of luck!
aw, this is the perfect one-person and a dog rig! dreamy.
Aw I love your fur baby 🌼🌸
Hi 👋 dear, how are you doing?
You are so enjoyable to watch! I love Airstreams. Cheers!
You go girl!!!! May you have many happy and safe miles!!!! Bless you! Do it while your young, life goes by faster than you realize!
Impressed by your independence at such a young age. Cool camper, beautiful scenery in Oregon, nice job!
Good luck and happy trails. We'll be watching. Stay safe.
Loved following you along on your journey as you picked up your Airstream! We pick ours up this weekend!
Congratulations! My wife and I have a Springdale and love it. We love watching others enjoy the lifestyle! Hope you have many more miles of fun!
Yay 😃 Congratulations 🎉 Sarah
An airstream is literally my dream home.
I wish I still had my travel home!
I can't wait to get another one, from the '70s or early '80s! My favorite era for RV!
I love it Sarah. Congratulations.
Congrats!!! New to the channel. My wife and I started RVing two years ago and it has changed our lives!! We love it. We have a smaller camper that has a pullout, which is perfect for the two of us and our cat. I wanted a fifth wheel but she wanted something small that we could boondock into all those hard places to get to, you know the ones... with the big payoff of glorious landscapes!! So we compromised and got everything she wanted. We are talking about going full time for a year or two while we look for a lake to buy a house on. Somewhere warmer than Michigan (Grand Rapids, awesome town btw). When we go full time she said we can get the fifth wheel, until then we are pumped up about 2022 camping and cannot wait to get our camper out of storage in April!! I am sure everyone will be telling you to go lithium for your batteries. That is the smart move if you have solar, maybe even if you don't. I daisy chained 4 marine batteries together, super easy to do, and that gives us enough juice for 7-10 days. I am so excited for you! You are in for so many great adventures, just take things slow and think them through and if you are having a bad morning as you try to hook up and move to the next spot, it's better to sit down a minute and let the moment pass. You don't want to make costly mistakes. Have a great time in your new Airstream, we look forward to following you on your adventures!!!
Thanks so much for your kind words and advice, Lance!! Hope to see you guys on the road!
You are like the only good thing that came out of California. That is an awesome trailer! Happy Travelin'
That campground looked amazing!
Firstly I am really happy that you have embarked on this journey of getting and owning an Airstream Sarah, well done!
No envy at all, I am truly in awe!
I have been dreaming of owning one for eons now, they were in the $ 17 000.00 - 35 000.00 range at the time., those days are sadly no longer with us anymore!
Yours is also a great floor plan and you have a nice colour combination too.
That Jeep is probably an ideal tow vehicle as well, not too much nor is it too little, just right!
I have also learnt something from this video, the load hitch / coupler has a gauge on it so that the tongue weight can be measured without having to guess (or go through the hassle of placing a scale under the front to weigh it prior to setting off on each trip). [Time stamp at 10:00]
I see also that the trailer can be raised and lowered at the front with an electric jack, I assumed that these only came so equipped on the larger, more expensive trailers? [Possibly an extra cost option from the dealer]?
I was also pleased to see that the guy who carried out the welding to the hitch used a proper welding blanket to protect all the surfaces against weld spatter!
The image of the snow covered massif at 0:59 is surreal, truly beautiful, it looks almost like an oil painting.
All in all this is one of the better Airstream videos out there and I have watched thousands of them over the years.
Some great camera angles, quirky background music and fine editing. Just the right length and an entertaining feature to watch without drawing us into the minutia of each and every nut and bolt, and yes, some days I would also like to be a Malamute..., or is that fella a Husky?
Sorry, could not keep this message shorter, all your fault!
All of the very best to you!
Go Gal!
The mountains are beautiful. Good for you having your hitch fixed-welded before you headed out for a three hr. drive and good on Airstream for reimbursing you.
More practical than ever. Love the damn thing! Good luck👌
Awesome purchase! Congrats and I hope you enjoy your new adventures!
😃Hi Sarah you have a freaking amazing personality, and you bought a freaking airstream ! Woohoo!👍 CONGRATS. 👍👏
I don't have an airstream but I know that feeling of wishing to buy something , and to be able to get it.
I just bought an electric bike today , and I will pick it up tomorrow at a specialty shop, I am very excited. . Wow. Your enthusiasm is contagious. I wish you lots of fun in your new airstream. Safe travels.
Hi 👋 Teresita, how are you doing?
Liked seeing a Trailhawk pull that beautiful awesome Airstream.
From one Airstreamer to another, well done! Looking forward to following your adventure and especially how your new natural wood table comes out. Please share that.
Thanks Randy! I will absolutely be sharing the table top once it's finished! Right now I've been having to focus on stocking it with all the necessities for daily functionality. Hopefully soon I can start getting into the fun interior decor aspect! It's all a process and I'm trying to be patient with myself. 😊
@@NomadicSarah you are going to do amazing! Every life is a process, no matter how we live it out. Thank you for sharing yours, and know that you are an inspiration!
So beautiful and cheerful. Happy travels!
Sarah Congratulations on your new airstream, I hope you have many many years of enjoyment and safe motoring. Blessings to on your travels. Sending the love from Ireland 👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Wow, what a beautiful van. Hey, you should get some leather gardening gloves to use when hitching and unhitching, to save your hands. Also, a foam gardening kneel pad for when you have to kneel down, saves getting dirty knees.
She is a beauty!
Congrats, just found your channel. Great video, now I have to binge watch to get caught up 😄
Me too ... 👍
Sarah you are adorable. I am so thrilled to see more woman out and about in their "mobile" homes. I did myself a solid for my 60th b'day, and purchased a 24 ft class c motorhome, that was 5 years ago. I LOVE it. If ever you come to Sedona, AZ, Rancho Sedona RV Park is where you will want to stay. I started on a long trip last year, from California to Texas but never left Sedona. Happy safe travels to you, it will always be a wondrous experenice.
Nice job on your 60th birthday present! Sedona is very beautiful. 🥰 My wife and I live in Tucson, but love visiting Sedona and other places in AZ.
Love your new home! Thank you for sharing the exciting first moments!
Congratulations, great addition, have an awesome time with it.
Congratulations on your new Airstream!
BEST IDEA EVER❣️🙏
Congratulation!! You look so exited , enjoy it!!
You should cut a hole in the wall and put a woodstove in, Then cut a hole in the roof and put a ladder up there for a deck with an umbrella, then paint a scenery with exterior latex paint on the sides of your air stream.
Beautiful trailer and congratulations!
I loved your video! I have a 20 ft Airstream and sometimes things are challenging, but it is well worth it!
That's really cool they let you stay the first night in their lot.
Congratulations. I live full time in my Leisure Travel Van (25' motorhome) and I tow a Jeep Wrangler. Currently in SC at a State Park. Headed for Georgia and Florida and when in warms up...Maine and Nova Scotia this summer. Enjoy your adventures!!
Congratulations!!!! Happy camping!!!!! Xoxo from Fair Oaks
Great to see your experience is going well! God bless you and keep you safe always 😊🙏🏼
Enjoy your adventures with the Airstream. You will have many interesting adventures and meet lots of great fellow campers.
A smart young woman to invest in an airstream & not tie herself down to one house, one neighborhood one view of scenery when now she has her youth & freedom from kids to discover HER BEST HAPPY PLACE. Awesome attitudes will bring you to heaven on earth. You are a SUPER NOVA, Sarah!
Your reaction to the sunrise as so genuine.
Congratulations Sarah! I look forward to your adventures! Cheers, Paige
Happy trails to yea. Have been looking at getting an Airstream trailer myself. . . . When I retire. 😃👍
Awesome Airstream! Bravo Sarah!
I love , love , L O V E your positively upbeat, infectious and fun attitude!!! You rock 😃😃😄😄 girl ! Beautiful dog!
Awesome!!! I build those in The factory in Jackson center, OH. I put on the taillights, shower box, put in the furnace, the bumper lid, marker lights, and door latch, I also put the a sealer on called ten x and the shiny trim pieces you see around the bottom and middle of the trailer, which we call belt-line and rub-rail insert.
Howdu!! 1st x viewer!! Full time RV Nomad here as well!! I'm so happy 4u!
We are proud Airstream owners, so we can commiserate with you about new ownership and all that that entails. Happy travels.
The views are amazing!!!
That’s one beautiful camper.. congrats
Love your new camper! Great layout!
Sarah - your video has caused me pain... I realized I was smiling so hard as I watched you adventure. I too have a travel trailer and have experienced the joys and fears of traveling down the highway. I cant wait to see what neat things you will discover. Your attitude, expressions and honesty is so refreshing. All I can say is more more more please.. Al
How exciting, such a great addition to your life, I love my airstream and you will too.
Hi 👋 Whitley, how are you doing?
Congratulations! Did you make sure the external vent from the hood was open before turning it on? You always want it open for cooking but need to remember to latch it shut for when you are towing.Enjoy!
It was totally latched shut, which I discovered the next day! Learning experience!!
Who knew there was such a thing? Great to know!
Congratulations! Thanks for sharing!
You are most delightful, wish you the best, be safe.
Congratulations ❤️😃
CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉
Beautiful! Good luck with it!
Congratulations!!! Beautiful!!!! 🤩
Every health and happiness on your airstream travels! Looking forward to videos of your adventures!
Hi 👋 Claire, how are you doing?
Congrats on the airstream. It is beautiful. I love the wood you are making your table from. You really lucked out on that. Big hugs to you and Drew from your pal in Oklahoma.
My favorite Airstream.
Pottery Barn edition, right?
Microwave has a air fryer and convection oven.
You did good.
I hope you and your beautiful have many fun, safe trips. ♡
Hi Chereese! Its a 22' Caravel. 😊 No pottery barn digs. Thank you for your kind words!
Airstream, such beautifull caravans
Wonderful video, you gave me courage to keep following my dream. I'm a recently retired and recently widowed RN Circulator. Left the job market Dec 29th... to care for my husband who passed away in April, we were together 37 years. I enjoyed my career, but I don't ever want to have to work for a living again. Being an OR Nurse for 35 years was enough. But I made it to retirement and still feel "youngish" at 61. Now it's time to enjoy the fruits of my labor and reflect on the beautiful life I shared with my loving husband. I've met lots of traveling nurses and always wanted to try RVing. I recently bought a 2023 27' flying cloud in May. Hope to take delivery in October/November, that seems so far off. I'm going out on the road alone with my dog Nala, not full time. I'm so excited to have this opportunity and look forward to learning the art of RVing through people like you! We utilized RadTechs alot in surgery and I know how tough it can be or I should say how brutal it can be. Thank you for sharing your experiences on youtube.
I've always wanted an Airstream! I love the layout of yours! Just subbed! Can't wait to see more!
