My partner absolutely loves Tool but when I showed him sleep token, he didn’t like it all that much until I forced him to sit in the car and listen to them 😂 he really enjoys their music
Very true. But what is crazy, Sleep Token is ahead of TOOL musically and lyrically at this stage in their respective timelines. The potential for the future is insane. Additionally, TOOL doesn’t really shift into different genres the same way. I have no idea how Sleep Token is this deliberate. I’ve seen TOOL 14 times since 1997. I have seen just about every solid band in any genre and I have never heard such clarity as I did at the DFW Sleep Token show. This band is pretty amazing.

What I love about Sleep Token is that their sound is so diverse they can appeal to all different types of crowds when it comes to music tastes. Want hardcore screaming? They got you. Want somethin more chill and emotional? They got you. Want something more soul/R&B? They got you. And yet somehow even with all the different styles, they still maintain a unique "Sleep Token vibe" and sound to them. Just an overall amazing band.

I remember 10 years ago me and my buddy were talking where bands would go and this is exactly it. A mixture between beautiful writing, wicked heavy, and technical both on riffs, beat, and structure/arrangement. The rock world has lacked this. It’s beyond refreshing

I started playing drums at the end of august this year. Before I watched many drum covers and videos from Drumeo. There I saw Greyson Nekrutman drumming through "Hypnosis". After that I searched for the original, then I heard this song. I got big respect for metal now. I never knew that I could love this kind of music before.

The reason the “beat is awkward” is because this band uses complex time signatures so it’s hard to catch a beat and for a normal person that doesn’t know much about music you’d have to learn to like this music in a different way than simple music personally I don’t even listen to sleep token other than one song and it’s for that reason there’s no hook or nothin but I still like complex music
I can absolutely take the comments like "This band is boring" and stuff but if you have the time, listen to all 3 albums. It will be a journey worth your time.
