People like James Gordon are heroes without capes, for their contribution to suffering people. I really wish that more people were engaged in this type of endeavor. We would indeed have a very different world if that were the case.

Great talk. Nonetheless, I fundamentally disagree with the path of the fight-flight-freeze sequence, as outlined at approx. 9 mins. My understanding - hey!, who am I to know differently!? - is that the fundamental response is freeze. Then, if the perceived danger or threat is then immediate, we go onto choosing fighting or fleeing; then, if fight or flight fails or is seen as useless, we humans again will revert to freeze. The real problem of this century, is that the perceived immediate threat is RARELY overwhelming, but, rather, just a little bit bigger than minimal.... but remaining for perhaps years in the muscle memory and in the created interior landscape of an individual's 'rules for living.'

You are right and as you put it - our muscle memory fundamentally auto tuned us with the fight/freeze response. Having this understanding is just the start; we could then apply this awareness to consciously change the response to flight, with practice. I hope you haven't gave up after 9 mins as there are some valid tools to be considered

How are some of the "created interior landscape of an individual's 'rules for living.'" removed from ones lives if they are not of benefit ?
