  • Trauma affects EVERYONE. From war-torn nations to quiet suburbs, the effects of traumatic events are the same, and they’re heartbreaking. The silver lining? Healing from trauma is not only possible, you can become a kinder, more connected, and resilient person because of it. Dr. James Gordon will show you how.
In this MarieTV, Dr. Gordon explains how everything from injury, illness, divorce, or losing a loved one, to the extended stress and uncertainty of living through a global pandemic, can trigger a trauma response. You’ll learn how trauma affects your brain and body, five symptoms you might be experiencing right now, plus four simple practices to reverse the stress response and heal your trauma - for good.
Dr. Gordon is a Harvard-educated psychiatrist, former researcher at the National Institute of Mental Health, and chair of the White House Commission on Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy. He's spent the past five decades working to help us all learn how to heal trauma and turn it into post-traumatic growth. He's written for countless publications like “The New York Times,” “The Washington Post,” and “The Atlantic,” and has authored ten books, including Marie’s personal favorite, “Transforming Trauma.”
“Trauma will come to everyone sooner or later,” says Dr. Gordon. Watch this episode now to equip yourself with proven tools for healing - so you’re ready when it does.

I love Jim Gordon. I trained with him 25 years ago and never tire of listening to his wisdom and knowledge. I think the greatest reminder is that trauma is a normal part of the human experience and as we recover and heal from our trauma, we can gain tremendous strength, resilience and insight. We can come out of the shadows, let go of any shame and be proud of our personal growth

This is absolutely fabulous and helps me put even more into context for my own wellness journey. This makes complete sense especially when I ditched processed foods and brought in more energy work end 2016 and into 2017 and for the first time in years I was able to loose weight in a very healthy way AND have kept it off still!!! Total 60lbs and even more inches!!! This is something everyone should learn :D

I never thought suicide could land in my home not because I thought it only happened to "those " people but was shocked to see how many people thought that my child must have been "troubled" child. She was not. She was a bright, articulate child full of dreams and plans to impact the world. After she was raped by 4 males, a photo taken and distributed of her assault and the harassment that followed kept her in a place of trauma. 17 months of struggle to get justice, to attempt to stand back up she died. :( Trauma impacts all and YES, we can move thru trauma and reclaim our life again. Now, I share my journey to help others move in their trauma. Thank You for this interview. Time does not heal anything but doing the work does.

When he talks about journalling, I was able to connect the dots between a technique that the Crappy childhood Fairy teaches called “the daily practice” where you start your day by writing out your fears and resentments - this talk has helped me understand how and why that’s effective. Great conversation!

    To anyone reading this message
    Hi you...
    You are a strong person.
You are loved and you are an important person.
You will be successful in your life process.
Its OK to be not perfect because there will never be a perfect human.
But whatever it is you have to work hard
to show the best version of yourself.
You are not alone in living your life,
there will always be love and love from God
without you realizing it in your every breath.
    God loves you
    even more than you understand.
    Don't feel unloved, unwanted, unappreciated
    and never feel useless.
You just need a little time to understand all this process
and you need to work a little hard
    to run after your goal
    and get your dream back.
I pray that it will be easy for you.
Calm your heart. Enable your soul to face all the trials of God.
May you continue to be bestowed with long-lasting sustenance.
    Make your happiness easy.
My strong and passionate greetings to you
who go through this difficult life journey
but we all can definitely stand at this point
and step forward for God's promises that we must have.
I love a strong soul like you
You are a great person because you are still able to survive until this moment
    with this not easy process
    Hi you.....
Every human being is given the same advantages as God
find and develop the advantages that you have so that with it your self-confidence, sense of worth and a sense of desire will grow in you.
Sad and disappointed human, it's natural and
allowed, what is not allowed is that you dissolve in your sadness and your adversity
    Hi you.....
Last but not least, keep up the spirit, keep going, keep growing, good luck in all of your goals. I'm proud of you personally who have this strong soul😍😘🤗

I found this was valuable, but I have a question about the randomized trial mentioned early on - how was that conducted? That teens in wartime were purposely denied these workshops? How did they construct the control group? Other than that question, this was very interesting and heartening.

Not purposely denied. As in most studies, there are only so many slots available. Funding is always limited. He is not discussing government funded social policy
