I used to never think of krist as that remarkable of a bass player, but when I first heard this it became clear that he is the most instrumentally talented member of nirvana
@@JUUD79 yep, the answer is clearly Dave Grohl. I don't think you'll find anyone calling Krist the best bassist in rock. You'll find tons of musicians saying that about Grohl as a drummer. And then you throw in that Grohl plays guitar and sings too, and he's the correct answer.
Kris Novoselic is a Hero to all Slavic people ❤️❤️❤️ Incredible bass arrangements. Every song becoming better when he plays ❤️❤️❤️ Most underrated Bass player in the world
Kurt said in one of his notes that Krist did "less than nothing" which is very unfair assessment , Kurt came up with the unique chord progressions and Krist added basslines other bassists would have added something different and maybe not as good , these basslines are OFF THE CHARTS! in catchyness and hookyness this one for Lithium is incredible work mindblowing in 1991 and same today
Either Jazz pickups or the aforementioned Humbucker pickups, with the mids scooped, bass up at max and for my treble I got a good sound at around 12 to 1 o’clock(depends on amp)
Dual humbuckers, scooped mids, treble and bass pretty high, new Rotosound strings, some kind of Ampeg SVT sim and drive gets you pretty far. And Andy Wallace added some automatic doubling via a Yamaha SPX 90 during mixing, giving an almost chorus-y effect to the bass tracks.
this is an alt take of the song lithium they used this to calibrate and to check audio the real bass (master tapes/multi tracks) for this song where either stolen lost or burnt in the universal fire

This is an incorrect recording. Whether it's fan-made or an alternate take, I don't know. I was going to use it as the basis for a tab, but only after uploading it did I realize it wasn't accurate to the song as it appears on the album. I did write a tab that is accurate to the actual song here: www.bigbasstabs.com/nirvana_bass_tabs/lithium_ver_4.html
No, I got this from a user who requested it be tabbed on a bass site I tab for. I only discovered after uploading it here that it's not the real thing. It's either an alternate take not used for the album, or someone else covering it. Whichever the case, it doesn't line up with the album version of the song. Come to think of it, I should probably take this video down lol If you're interested, I included a link for a bass tab I wrote in the video's description. That tab is based on the song as it appears on the album, not this faux track. You'll see the differences are notable.
Lithium's bass chords are among my favorites, along with "In Bloom."
So good!
Best bass line of all time is during the bridge

Everybody in nirvana was really remarkable on their instruments
I think maybe you're forgetting that Dave Grohl was also in Nirvana.
Facts, my guy made a whole album with him on all the instruments and it sounds no different than how an entire band would sound @@JUUD79

You say that, but who was writing these melodies? And Dave went on to crank out hits for 20+ years.

Nirvana was very much about the Bass as it was about Cobain's guitar , all the basslines on every song are addictive
I loved this bass track
This whole time I thought that chunk was coming from guitar palm muting
Same here, I've even tried to incorporate it too not even making that same realization
Me too

Does anybody know the amp settings for this tone?
Idk but it helps to get this tone by using a pick
Don’t fiddle with your amp settings, just get a Fender Rumble Studio 40, it’s a great bass amp, and ir has a Krist tone called “In Bloom”.
Humbucker pickups
Low mids and High treble

the bridge was early but that's okay for all i've heard, almost perfect, should play it while listening to the original to sync tempo, overall great
i thought the mastertracks to this song was lost, how did you find this bassline?
Most of their master tapes were lost in a studio fire years ago. I'm not sure how this one resurfaced, though.

Huge Young Marble Giants influence on this bass.
Im guessing krist didn't use a DI for this album.
Combination of amp and DI I think
