I agrree, It's just a certain type. Good, creative, dark and somewhat haunting bass lines. Ask him to play jazz bass now that he's in politics. Probably mo' listena' bull. Lol
He is underrated as a Nirvana member as well. Dude, he even said people approach him and say 'Hey, are you that drummer from Nirvana, is your name Dave?'
@@elvergalarga3908 Pues si, Krist era muy bueno y usaba mucho la distorsión, especialmente en In Utero, si escuchas Bleach ahí el sonido es más limpio. En mi opinión es un pedazo de bajista tremendo
I'd known the guitar parts for years and never imagined the bass would be anything like this. The bass riffs by themselves are pretty interesting. The chorus riff is awesome 👌🏻
@@radioactive.redwood krist IS my favorite bassist, he was the most talented out of nirvana. Dave just hit shit with sticks fast and it sounded good even he said he wasnt a very technical drummer and Kurt, Kurt knew his way around a fretboard but only ever wrote easy songs for some reason. But krist is a god at bass
No way! A click track goes against everything they were going for with in utero. They wanted a raw sound, and krist was playing along to Dave's drums anyway. The time changes are barely noticeable in the final mix because they are great musicians, and it came out wonderfully. Sometimes music needs imperfection to keep it human.
Yo, I'm in a band and was originally supposed to play backup guitar #1 (we had 2 backup guitarists and have 2 lead guiarists) they moved me over to bass because we couldn't find a Bassist. I was furious but after I actually realized how important bass was, I'm not mad anymore
Welcome to the place where you realise that Krist is underrated.

Kurt wrote basslines
@@msjajhehs8308 no
omgnoob89 the only reason for that is because Dave went on and continued making music so he gets more credit, because Krist stopped entirely
1:21 wow! I never new that was there. It sounds like the electric guitar
Coby Cooper the beauty of bass strumming is really awesome
@British-Aussie Lover Yeah most likely a ProCo Rat.
toad ikr his tone is legendary
It's when Kurt sings "your advice," you can hear Krist play this power chord. Go listen to the song and you'll hear it
Mute the first string and hit the other 3 on E♭ drop D♭, thats the sound
Finally, I can hear the bass on an In Utero recording.
No sir. I can not. ☹️
@@NatureLover-cc2hf all 3 instruments were important in the recording
I can listen very well the bass on the song
If you dont want to hear bass in a song go listen to system of a down 😂
You can hear bass, you just can’t mentally separate it from the guitar.
Yo, as a bass player, I never EVER noticed that small bass run between 0:53 - 0:54. I consider myself pretty familiar with all audio Nirvana related.
same
i realized now
i have been playing this wrong all the time

It’s crazy how the solo melody was just blasting though every chorus of the song unheard/noticed
I know right, I only noticed it recently and I've been listening to the song for years.
What do you mean?
What solo melody? What Krist is playing is not the solo melody. It has similarities, but there's a ton of different notes.
1:21 that sound so powerful, I thought it was the guitar
Es el bajo, con mucha distorsión.
@@josi8569 Ahora lo se, pero yo siempre que escuchaba esa parte pensaba que era pura guitarra, pero ahora me pone feliz saber que es un bajo xd

Gibson Rippers are awesome.
that's a gibson bird
@@hyperzucar It was a Gibson RD artist
It's almost haunting without Kurt singing , as if this is what became of the song after he died.
John Huston its just the bass!
How high are you
John Huston Are you high right now? *on heroin perhaps?*
@@Smogfellows not funny
Dude it's just a bass line, calm down
Fender and Gibson went well together in nirvana
Anyone ever wonder how a bassist like this ends up with someone like Kurt Cobain and then again who hits like Dave.... must be fricken destiny....
One of his most iconic bass riffs along with In Bloom and Lithium
Well goodness gracious me, i had the riff down right when i was 16 the whole time!!
sick vid dude !!!!!!!!!!! i love these bass only vids
Kurts favorite Krist bass teack.
Damn, I was really looking for this.
Edit: This makes me wanna learn bass
Love listing to recorded stems but I have a question, why is there so much hiss and static if these are true stems?
badass
check out the in bloom bass next
I love krist sm
Do you know if they used a pedal to distort the bass
It sure is a pedal. Don't know what pedal it was, probably a Boss DS1, maybe a Big Muff...
thanks I looked around the internet and couldn't find out if he used any, it just showed some of kurts guitars
damion davis Yes, Kurt used a pedal

ProCo Rat.
so much detail going on there
I am learning this song by ear on bass :)
El bajo mas lindo que escuche hasta el día de hoy
Fucking awesome
Anyone know of any vocal only tracks for this song?
I'm so late ik, but there are plenty of them just search, and if I remember right there is only one with some good worthy quality.

Or Krist did that?
Kurt
Krist did.
Krist, he said go to the beat of the drums instead of the guitar
This made me realise HOW underrated Krist really is.
el tiempo al principio es muy marcado....y ademas tiene figuras muy originales..☺
Everyone plays this so wrong lol
In fact, here he is playing perfect because this is krist...literally is the track of krist in heart shaped box
@British-Aussie Lover Oh ok :p
I've been trying to play as accurate as Krist play.. But he's f**king greatest bass player for Nirvana

Is the verse clean then the chorus distorted
Yes
Can anyone else hear HEY, WAIT in you head but no other vocals
zucar
I can stuck track in a logic and make my own mix LOL TX a lot.
He should have used a click track
yeah krist is just playing to the beat of the drums, since the band was all playing at the same time

Love Nirvana but this is THE $h1ttiest baseline though.
Not really
