  • Hey everyone welcome back to It's Track Time!
In this video we're going to look at how you can drive faster on track by pushing the track limits.
We're back at COTA in the Porsche GT4 RS, and we'll be taking a look at a few examples.
Pushing the track limits refers to driving as close to the edge of the track boundaries as possible without going off-track. This can create a faster lap time for several reasons:
By utilizing the entire width of the track, you can increase the radius of the corner thereby allowing for higher speed.
To further extend the radius of the turn, or length of a straight, you can also use the runoff areas.
We'll explore how this can be done within the track limits at COTA.
Learn how to maximize the track surface without breaking the rules.
    Thanks for watching :)

Good stuff, Berry. Everytime I see a black 991.1 I wonder if it’s me. lol. Thankfully I rarely get that sideways!

Great video - really explains how to hot shoe it around COTA. I'm from Omaha and drove my car to the PCA DE there in late Feb. I have street tires and relatively few mods on my car. I'm a butter knife at a gun fight. I keep my car on the inside of the track - no curb or sausage straddling. Riding the curbs will wear out your wheel bearings. Would I be faster if I used the whole track? Yes. Would the expense be greater if I used the whole track? Yes. I figure the payout at the end is the same and there's no pretty girl to give you a kiss if I "win", so I'm OK with giving up some speed and tenths. Plus I have to drive my car 13 hrs to get home. When someone starts paying me to drive their car that shows up in a fancy hauler, then I'll be a bit more reckless. And thanks to your video, I'll know the secrets.

Why would they design the track with curbs that launch vehicles like that? Safer to use sand traps to deter driving off track.

Nicely explained. Turn 19 you straddle the sausage curb to ensure you are faster than your buddies on track.

    Great video 🏁👍
