1.) Freddie is "Freddie Hunslet" - there where a few characters like "Millie Decauville" or "Victor Baldwin" who I didn't add to the list becuase - frankly I wasn't bothered editing up their family trees as there would've been too many Hunslets and Baldwins to go through. Maybe for a future video!
2.) Alf & Fred are actually Hunslets. For some reason, the wiki listed them as Andrew Barclay. Stupid Wiki, when will you learn!
3.) Little Barford is not "Little Bradford".😅

If Fred and Freddie, as well as Alf and Russell, are Hunslet engines, then I think you left out a few of Duncan’s cousins.
Rusty is the only member of the core Skarloey fleet who actually differs from his real life counterpart in someway beyond name and color.

It’s very ironic that people say Norman shouldn’t exist just because he and Dennis are both based on the same one-off design when the Skarloey, Culdee Fell and Arlesdale railways are full of engines that are also based on one-off designs.

Peter Sam actually has five more siblings! Three on the Burma Mines Railway, a sibling called Stanhope from the Apedale Valley Light Railway and No.7 on the Corris Railway. Sir Handel also technically has one more new sibling, No.10, that's currently being built on the Corris Railway. They may not be canon to the rws, but it's interesting to note.

Heres how it works in my mind
1. If you're an engine built by the same person and are the same class as another engine, youre siblings!
2. If you're built by the same person, but arent the same class, you're cousins
3. If you were built from drawings stolen from the same builder as someone else, had the same builder as another engine help with your build or were rebuilt into or out of a family group, youre half-siblings

I like to think that Albert and Proteus were Sir Handel's brothers who were eventually broken down and used for parts on Sir Handel, much like the original three real-life Falcon class engines.

Yeah Skarloey and Rheneas are just brothers but to be honest I think Tallylynn and Dolgoch are also brothers too
As someone who grew up on Thomas, I was so weirded out the first time I saw rebuilt Midlander. That radiator is the most distinctive element of Rusty's profile, so seeing Rusty but with a different radiator and body panels threw me for a loop at first.

Fun fact, Dolgoch/Rheneas are the Class Bb, and skarloey/Tal-y-lynn started out as the Class A, but were rebuilt into a Class C, there not fully "Oneoffs" you where able to buy there Class, it's just, no one else decided to buy the Class A-C 🤷♂️
They do have an essentially illegal cousin in the form of Ballaarat, a 3ft6 gauge loco from Australia that shares an uncanny amount of similarities to Dolgoch, likely to the point that it was simply plagiarized.

Aside of being built by the same company, I was always curious on how Skarloey & Rheneas were related. I thought it'd had something to do with their configuration. Before Skarloey gained trailing wheels, both were 0-4-0 engines.
If Peter Sam was built by the same company as Luke & if the Kerr Stuart company is located in Ireland, then...shouldn't Peter Sam have an Irish accent?
Standard gauge cousins are insane! I mean, with Captain Baxter I understand since he too is a 0-4-0 engine like Rheneas & Skarloey (before he got trailing wheels). But Rusty's standard gauge cousin being Salty? And Duncan's standard gauge cousin is SAMSON?!
SPEAKING of Duncan...Where do I even start?... His diesel cousins surprised me! I know we covered the diesel cousins in the last video with the Bullied family. But with Alf & Fred, I thought Hunslet was the company name. So does that make Hunslet the middle initial? Like "Alf Hunslet Barcley" & Fred Hunslet Barcley"? And what about Freddie? His surname is Hunslet, meaning he could potentially be a cousin to the 2 diesels! And TOPPING IT OFF with Irish Pete/Tom Rolt, maybe he could be an in-law once removed(?). And Ivo Hugh... Let's just simplify it with Henry from the Gresley video. Since Henry was based off of rejected plans by Sir Nigel Gresley and called Henry Gresley for a while until the Kipper crash. We could say Ivo Hugh was based off of plans with Tom Rolt. Making him: Ivo Hugh Bate.

Wow this was the best timeline video yet! There were so many things I did not expect like Captain Baxter being related to Skarloey and Rheneas, and the same thing with Samson to Duncan and surprisingly Fred. And I had no idea Peter Sam and Luke were related in a way. Also I thought Mighty Mac's class what's designed by Robert fairlie which also has a nice ring to it but I guess there's something I must be missing. Also I do believe Smudger is real if anything I think him along with Stanley can coexist. Either way this was a fun video keep up the good work Adam!

The only issue I have with these family trees is that since Mighty and Mac are separate characters who are cajoined twins, they should be Mighty Spooner and Mac Spooner respectively.

Iirc, the og smudger was a 10-12D? Which means he would have been an american built ww1 trench engine!
Audry actually did have smudger as a us trench engine on his layout that rode rough due to having a cruddy kitbashed wheelbase, so that'd explain why he ran rough not only in model form but in stories too. That'd also explain the accent.
And iirc, they weren't able to make a 10-12 in time for the show, so we get the green *boah* 😅

A couple of things: if the engines were seen in the show or books. They're considered semi-canon. Also, Luke technically has another sibling, by the name, Peter Pan. Which was Luke's basis.
Well, Dolgoch and Talyllyn irl have a another cousin in Australia named Ballarat, built to a gauge of 3ft 6in.
Although not built by Fletcher, Jennings & Co., it´s design is similar if not identical to Dolgoch.
So, yeah, cousin from Victoria Foundry that lives in the land down under that is related somewhat to Dolgoch.
But also Dolgoch and Tallylynn are brothers too right just like Skarloey and Rheneas
@@vanessasandoval96 Ballarat was built to the same class specifications as Dolgoch and Rheneas, is related to Talyllyn and Skarloey, but wasn´t built by Fletcher, Jennings & Co, but rather the Victoria Foundry in the city of Ballarat in Australia in 1871, where she was working on a 3ft 6in logging railway, afterwards she got preserved on static display.
Not built by Fletcher, Jennings & Co., but is related to the Talyllyn locomotives by it´s design.

Also Samson being a cousin of Duncan and Fred I wasn’t expecting, nor Salty being a cousin of Rusty neither. As for Tom Bate and Ivo Hugh, they look complicated to be resemblance to Duncan‘s class? The theme listed in the description as "Unknown theme" that plays during the section about Mighty Mac's family tree is "Duke the Dog" by Mike O'Donnell, which I think was made for Sidekickjason's dog of the same name, featured in his album "The Engine Themes vol. 3".
Or maybe little giant because mighty Mac and Little Giant are similar but to be honest I wish mighty Mac could’ve reappeared in CGI with new whistles then they’ll have the same argument as Donald Douglas Bill and Ben in not forget me
My explanation for Smudger having an American accent is that his driver was American in some way… (to be fair I’m sure some engineers immigrated to the UK)

At first I was going to ask where James was at on Sir Handel's family tree but after some further research I discovered that I'd mixed his builder up with Henry Hughes & found out it was actually George Hughes that built the L&YR Class 28.
Using Despicable Me’s Steamroller theme for Sir Handel is genius. 🧠
I think the standard gauge Fletcher Jennings locomotive in "Stepney the Bluebell Engine" looks a lot like Rheneas. Maybe as there are 2 Falcon locomotives Sir Handel & Sir Haydn could appear together at the Talyllyn Railway:-)
I think the reason why Smudger has an american accent is because Stanley (the mid sodor's number 2) was an american engine that got re-gauged into narrow gauged, but not properly, which made him a rough rider

I didn’t know that Captain Baxter is related to Skarloey and Rheneas, Salty is related to Rusty and Samson and Fred are related to Rusty.
Smudger probably gets hated because he replaced Stanley. Yet believe it or not, he could fit in the RWS, as Falcon came to the MSR BEFORE Stanley. Plus, Sodor: Reading Between the Lines, revealed he was a replacement for another engine. As for why Stanley would've been behind the shed after he first became a pumping engine, that could be due to Smudger being out of order, and once he was running again, Stanley was moved to the mine. Also, Jennings' model is still around, just painted red and now a spare engine.

I could be wrong, but I think I heard somewhere that Peter Sam has two more brothers. If I remember correctly, they were sent to Japan or China.
I guess Peter Sam is the older brother to Edward Thomas and little Bradford. The Kerr Stuart brothers. Luke and pixie Kerr Stuart. As their biological cousins. Who lives in Ireland. Far away from sodor and England. Many years ago.
Actually, Duncan had one more sibling like douglas. There were two engines built including douglas, which worked with RAF, but were later almost sold to India's copper mines... But did not meet their expectations... So, you'll have to add that sibling too.
