I don't like this Emily. She's nowhere near as accurate as the 2018 Wood Emily model. The face placement is sooooo wrong! It needs to be on the rear like it is in the RWS books by the Rev. Roybert Wilson. There's a *reason* the official wooden Emily toys have a short funnel: *Chuggington destination clearance!* That's also why characters like Harvey and the Breakdown Train only lasted a year in the TWR range - they were too tall to fit under LC56803 Double-Decker Roundhouse (with Elevating Turntable). You did not aggressively sand down Emily until the model was paper thin in order to fit under any destination (including underneath the doors of the Roundhouse), nor did you make the model completely detachable using Mega Bloks bricks (it would be illegal to use Lego bricks since Lego has not owned the rights to Thomas & Friends since 1671). Lastly, she probably doesn't fit on the 33361 Brio Mechanical Turntable, which is pure lunacy. Furthermore, the 2018 Thomas Wood Emily is also perfect because of its correct proportions and face structure, unlike your attempt. It is important to consider that these models need to be able to work properly and fit to scale because they are toys and not models. The models I use in my series are extremely accurate because they are Trainz models. It's clear your customs need work. As the Reverand Roybert said: "you can't do it!" *Edit* If you've read this far, please note that this is a shitpost, and that Gio and I are actually good friends! :)
I own the Wooden Railway Hank, but always found it odd how it both does & doesn't look like a PRR K4s. So my question is, could we get a 'Most accurate Wooden Hank' in the future?
I just got to say your custom here is definitely an upgrade from the original toy. I get that the whole style of wooden railway is to be simplified versions of the models, but Emily‘s model honestly looked more like a 2-2-2 bloomer than a gnr stirling single
It's not an upgrade IMO. It _looks_ good (aside from the face placement), but it essentially minmaxed on looks - that funnel means it can't clear most bridges and tunnels. I do agree that the original official design was bad, though; Emily's proportions suffered *heavily* from the decision to give everybody Gordon-size faces (a decision that should have been reversed years sooner than it was). I think you'd be better off coupling a 2004-2017 tender (where the coal rails are actually part of the jigsaw instead of just painted on) to a 2019 body (which has way better proportions than the older Emily version). Or if you're going to be super fussed about wheel arrangement accuracy, get the 2022 Emily and call it a day.
Dude Emily looks so gorgeous! I will admit Emily definitely has a troubling history with merchandise and while I don't mind some of the merchandise as it's meant to be simplistic this just goes to show that you can make little toys for kids look accurate. It also shows you can take something hideous and make it beautiful too! One of your best customs yet and I hope you make her coaches to go with her. Keep up the good work Geoh!
No, the 2019 Emily shows that you can make little toys for kids look accurate. The 2022 Emily shows that you can make toys for little kids look accurate. This custom minmaxed on looks at the expense of playability, and thus is a very poor toy for kids. It's a good _display_ piece (aside from the face placement), but that tall funnel means you can forget getting it through most tunnels and under most bridges.
@@ZeldaTheSwordsman Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! Who are you to come here and start judging. The 2019 Emily isn't even good. And even though the 2022 version is way better it still leaves a lot to be desired.
Wow, Emily looks fantastic, loved watching your process. The Dremel is one of my favorite tools ever, i do most of my customizing with one. Reguarding the paint, I believe your main issue is you are painting a little too close, and too heavy of a coat. It's better to spray an arms length or 6-8 inches away, and do multiple light coats. Doing too close and too heavy, with a mix of cold air will make the paint crack or orange peel. Same goes for the clearcoat, and last but not least, make sure the cans are evenly shakened, and are at room temperature, hope this helps! Fantastic work as always.
I think we can all agree that wooden railway never made a perfect Emily until now. Geoh this is such an amazing representation of Emily and it’s MILES better than the actual product well done as always!
Wow! That custom Emily is amazing! And I love the mix of UK and US at the end! I'd love it if you did this for all future endings of videos of your custom Wooden Railway models!
Oh, and word of advice, the Rustoleum spray paint takes around 5-7 days to truly dry from my experience with it, so I’d recommend leaving that paint to dry for a week at most and 5 days at least.

Holy cow is this an amazing model! Now there are 2 things on my mind. 1. I wonder what a side by side comparison of this custom and the 2022 Emily would look like (even if the custom is better). 2. How would a Bulleid Engine look in your style? Either way, amazing work Geoh! Emily looks stunning!

This is astounding! Emily always was a character that seemed to get the short end of the stick being translated in merchandise (along with Molly), and that sucks because she is one of my favorite characters. Seeing this first at Brampton and I was absolutely blown away how good she looks. From her green paint color, her shape of her boiler, and that gorgeous gold lining. Definitely your finest custom to date, Gio! Also, thanks for the little shoutout at the end. It was a great time meeting you North of the Border, along with so many others.
Have a gander at the 2019 and 2022 wooden versions of Emily. Letting her have a smaller face instead of forcing a Gordon-size one on her did wonders for her proportions. Also, FWIW I'd say Molly fared better than Emily in wooden stuff (at least originally, Emily has since gotten a better deal), even with the "outdated face" issue. Molly didn't end up with a Gordon and Henry stub of a funnel like old versions of Emily did.
This is genuinely fantastic work. The frequent weird inaccuracies with the wood toy lines were usually part of why I’ve never really been a huge fan of them, and it makes me wish that a new one actually had that sense of polish and detail that both kids and older audiences can truly appreciate.
* A suggestion with why your paint may be acting up: * You need to be lighter with your spray painting I think. FANTASTIC MODEL!!! Instead of modge podge you may want to try rust-oleum Matte or ultra clear, I use that on some models and only had a problem when I sprayed when it was too cold XD No bubbles or cracking. Unless the coat under isn't cured...
I Like The Model, It Looks So Much Like The TV Show, It Reminds Me Of The Bachmann Version The Only Difference I Can Point Out, It Doesn’t Have Side Rods, At Least Its More Accurate Then The 2018 Wooden Railway Emily, I Also Like The Face Design, My Only Complaint It Should Be 1 More Bigger, Aside From The Minor Mistakes, This Custom Is A Masterpiece! This Should Be In An Art Museum, Someone Hire This Man, By The Way, Can You Do Thomas And Percy Next? You Would Do Thomas For Part 1, And Percy For Part 2, They Would Be An Additional Part Of The Wooden Railway Custom Series, It Would Look Cool, Also, This Part Was Funny 16:10
The wooden railway Emily is everything a stirling single shouldn't be: Fat, short, squished. Not only the wooden railway one but the take along one suffers from the exact same problem, having only two sets of smaller wheels and not having the 4 front ones. YOU MADE A MASTERPIECE! I can't stop looking at it, she looks gorgeous❤❤
1. Only having 2 front wheels was fine within the design language of TWR at the time. Wheel arrangements had to be heavily simplified to avoid engines being pricy impractical space hogs (and to play nice with only having a few wheel sizes (hell, until Flying Scotsman happened we only had ONE wheel size)). 2. I agree about the 2004-2017 versions of Emily having horrendous proportions, though. In 2002, some absolute *idiot* forced Learning Curve to give _everyone_ who had a round face a *Gordon-size* face, and a lot of characters suffered because of it. Emily, Percy, and Rheneas all come to mind. Emily got it especially bad because of her smokebox-to-face ratio - the smokebox got bloated to retain that relative to the Gordon-size face, and the boiler got distended too (while the funnel got squished for clearance reasons). 3. I'd say "shelf queen", not "masterpiece".
Another character who’s Wooden Railway model misses the mark is Murdoch, who’s supposed to have at least 10 driving wheels. Yet his model still has 8 like everyone else. He comes in second place in the “Missing the Mark” contest. First place is Emily, no contest.
If you want to avoid spray paint from caking up, try spraying from about 5 feet away. I could see in the video that you were pretty close to your workpieces, and I think that is what is causing your issues with the paint. I also used to have this issue, but increasing the distant between me and the model made it go away. This Emily looks great and I hope you continue to do great things!
This is just a reminder of how off Emily’s merchandise is half the time. Her shape tends to get messed up and most of the time her faces aren’t super accurate.
I like the ideaof using mass produced bootleg trains to make customs instead of official ones because the official ones are limited and of higher quality
You might try putting the paint on in thinner coats, that should at least help the paint being thick in the valleys, that's what I find helps when painting with rust oleum

Dude you need to do Edward, I don’t wanna look at a “K2” out there looking like Thomas with a tender
@@ZeldaTheSwordsmanMasterpiece. Deal with it.❤
23:08 this comparison bro
Another character who’s Wooden Railway model misses the mark is Murdoch, who’s supposed to have at least 10 driving wheels. Yet his model still has 8 like everyone else. He comes in second place in the “Missing the Mark” contest. First place is Emily, no contest.
Hearing Love Live and RR Slugger next to each other in the soundtrack is surreal to me, the only other person on Earth who watches both.
See now THIS is the type of train modelling I want to get into! I do lego trains, but this is so cool!
I love Lego trains too!
Try using paint to hold together 2 pieces of wood instead of using glue
You know, I have to commend you for getting a sponsor that’s actually relevant to the video; for once, I actually may be convinced to use them!
Fantastic work on this custom! The detail and accuracy you were able to add on this engine is really cool!
That Thomas Landbus took me completely by surprise LOL
This is just a reminder of how off Emily’s merchandise is half the time. Her shape tends to get messed up and most of the time her faces aren’t super accurate.
Not all heroes wear capes 🫡
You made a new one and went out of the park with this one.
I like the ideaof using mass produced bootleg trains to make customs instead of official ones because the official ones are limited and of higher quality
never stop what your doing i love evrying you do
This guys kids are going to have the ultimate toy trains to play with someday
You might try putting the paint on in thinner coats, that should at least help the paint being thick in the valleys, that's what I find helps when painting with rust oleum
Appreciate the tip! Thanks
