As usual, the fans put more effort into making Thomas good than Mattel has in two years. This is the kind of Duck I would buy if it were available for commercial sale (in fact, if I were running the Thomas Wooden Railway line, Duck would have been available for commercial sale in early 2023). The body in particular reminds me of the BRIO model.
(no offense) but the reason duck aint in the 2023 line. is cuz he aint relevant anymore. i believe the last time we saw him was in season 23-24? so he aint relevant or important to mattel anymore
@@tramengineproductionsBro S23 is “relevant” because it is recent, but he hasn’t got merch since 2013. His Fisher-Price model in Trackmaster was 2012-14 and his TWR model is from 2013, so in merch he isn’t relevant. But the prob is the original series ended so he was last seen in 2021. But you are right tho since engines 8-11 are like useless.

I always have hated the Thomas vs. Duck theory. Clearly throughout the show they are good friends especially in Season 3
That was quite a good custom Duck you made there. The process must have been a pain. You went through harder work on your custom models than I ever did on mine.

Yeah Rust-Oleum clear coat does have a tendency to rip up paint either from the paint not being dry or the chemicals not "getting along" so to speak

This was a great video! I recommend when spray painting feathering it on will yield better results
Light, quick short sprays and leave a bit of time to let it dry between layers. Also if you thin your paint when brushing it won't go on as thick and leave a similar look as spray painting!

The redesigned wooden railway duck you made looks fantastic! Also I’d recommend adding his little sandbox’s he has at the front so it can look just that little more accurate
This is a wonderful video and shows off a wonderful model. I was practically glued to my screen watching this, seeing several techniques I had never seen before for custom making. I just discovered the exacto knife/hammer method a few months ago. Loved seeing the whole process and this makes me inspired to get back to making customs when I get a chance.

As someone who works with HO/OO scale models for customization (and at that I usually buy ready to run models and just add small things like lamps, screw link couplings, etc.) I am extremely impressed to see what you can accomplish with the Wooden trains, especially considering the fact that I grew up with the original Ttte toys!

Once again man you knocked it out of the park with this custom Duck looks excellent! And now we finally have all the Great Western engines from City of Truro, Oliver, and now Duck. Aso as much as I feel bad when people struggle when it's put in a video format it's very entertaining. Also I've been meaning to ask what type of wood filler do you use as I really want to start using that more for my customs. Keep up the good work Geoh!
Thank you for the comment! I use Lepage Natural Wood Filler (#notsponsored). Its the first I was able to find, and it just seemed to work for me, your milage may vary though. Hope this helps!

Edward is certainly a custom that I'd like to do in future! Hopefully sometime soon ;)
The paint cracking is probably caused by the base paint not being fully cured before the top coat. I had issues like that when working on my own models with any kind of spray paint and this tip saved me so much time. So check the paint bottles you used to see how long it takes to fully cure before any new layer of paint. Hope this tip helps you in the future when you use spray paint!

I use a flat head screw driver to remove the chassis and use pliers to gently remove the pegs to reuse them later.

Great work on the model it is a smashing one my one nitpick is the running board looks to long it may just be perspective but the front of ducks body is miles from the buffer beam but hay you did a better job than I ever could this model was truly done the great western way

I've had problems like that with gloss clear enamel before, temperature is a big factor on the drying process. also to prevent the enamel from running or getting too thick, try lightly spritzing the area while moving the can back and forth.
Glad to hear its a shared issue, I think you're right on temperature. I did it mid October so it was pretty cold. I'd like to give it another try in future but maybe when its warmer. Thanks for the comment!

Amazing wooden railway duck model, although, I think the running board is a little too far out. But that’s not that big of deal. Especially considering how well this model is my goodness! 😃
People seem to forget that those original vintage wooden railway faces from the 90s, sculpt wise, were SHOCKINGLY accurate to the model series faces. They looked nearly identical in some cases. (Like Duck, here.) And they just needed some extra paint detail to really bring it out. Fantastic custom and a great use of the underrated OG wooden railway faces!

I feel like you might have laid on the gloss clear a bit too thick which would have exacerbated the cracking; the same thing's happened while priming on my end so that's why I'm hypothesising such a thing.
