Pimp my Brake Van? | Wooden Railway Caboose Restoration

- The Sodor Line Caboose is a staple of the Thomas Wooden Railway line, and a nice nod to American railroading and train culture in general. But I yearned for something more European for my Wooden Railway collection. So this brings us to another restoration and customization!

Because I'm illiterate, I couldn't read the sign at 0:22. I tried to make my own brakevan and cut off my arm in the process, and I blame you. You are responsible for the damages caused by using these methods.
Skill issue.
Bruh thats your fault
youll be fine
rusty pistons + boiler sludge + rough riding + not really useful + wonky whistle + dirty object + no special funnel
But some ice in it. 🧊
This was a great to watch, Geoh! Some parts looked genuinely painful but the paint was so satisfying, and the whole process was cool to see. As was the story! This darn brake van had a more interesting career than some humans
LARRYS LEGO IM A HUGE FAN
@@SimplyRailways125 Ey cool! :D
@LarrysLego I love your duck remake it looks much better!
@@TimTheWellTank Thanks!
its funny that i actually met your channel with tihs comment
it was wierd to me as a kid that Thomas was british but people that made train toys would just throw in american rolling stock because "all trains are the same"
Yup
@Steam1937 TTTE was quite Popular here, so it's kind of a no-brainer that American manufacturers made merchandise.
@Steam1937 it is definitely is a no brainer.
Thomas is literally a British show/ book series 💀
This video was great. Loved watching you use all the tools in the stupidest way. No wonder it took so long
I actually really appreciate this comment, I'm self taught with all this so I really don't know my way around everything yet. Any suggestions on improvements in tool use?
If I had another Sodor Line Caboose and turned it into a Brakevan like that, I would be so happy. 😊
As an Irish person I thank you for basing your Brakevan on the Brakevan from the RPSI
I will say this is quite an interesting custom while it does look a little bit off in my opinion concerning the fact that I've seen 3D printed Wooden Railway versions of brake vans. The history behind this brake van is pretty cool and fascinating. Keep up the good work man can't wait to see more customs.
Its true, 3D printing really could really be a much more convenient option in this situation, but this was more of taking something I had and transforming it into something new, rather than just 3D printing. But I appreciate the comment and the kind words!
Ivan the brakevan as an antagonist? Sounds like a good idea for a story. 😊
I love when i was playing with these in my train table man these good times
im so happy that he showed a clip of irish trains
Yes! Those were from the Whitehead site of the Railway Preservation Society of Ireland! I hope to visit one day.
@@GeohToy You should they have a wonderful little collection of Engines and rolling stock there
Your customs/restorations never fail to blow me away! Amazing work
Excellent work! As ya know I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to trains, but I love seeing videos like this, it's so awesome seeing people's creativity come to the forefront with this stuff.
Every custom you make is an absolute masterpiece
This is beautiful work! Fantastic job!
7:56 Thomas: signed head of the railway Sir Topham Hatt
Fantastic! Hearing Eryth Sea in the video was more than a pleasant surprise!
This man don’t miss
Love your customs mate, very well made. 😊
This is probably the best wooden railway custom i see (some people just lazy paint it grey) keep up the good work and who knows maybe you can make a wooden railway accurate edward
Had one of those cabooses when I was a kid. Cool to see something so boring turned into something unique
Nice brakevan you got here. I can only imagine the pain you've gone through when removing the top part of the brakevan. They should have hired you to work on Thomas Wooden Railway 2022.
7:50, SR is the southern railway and sodor is the North Western Railway meaning NW would have made more sense but i still like this custom, great job!
It is still correct. On the cover of the 1971 surprise packet, there is a crest on the cover mimicking the British Rail arrow logo but with an S instead of the arrows with Sodor Rail written on it. So Geoh is still correct. Technically.
Amazing restoration!
Great job on the custom, I’m gonna predict that the next custom is going to be Duck.
Hmmm, I think your prediction might be right!!
“He pimped my breakvan!” -sir topham hat, 2024
Quite the masterpiece right there
Lol, love how you used an edited version of the DANGER sign from Percy Takes the Plunge as a warning for us
A amazing job and looks amazing and a great video and a great idea to do.
awesome work geoh
Fantastic job indeed. That looks amazing.
The Custom Brave Van is Amazing!, I Like how this Turns Out, Ivan is a Cool Name by the way., the Paint job and Details are great.😃👍
Nice one
Beautiful brakevan❤ a shame Wooden Railway never made more of those
2:42 i think it can actually serve as something for the breakdown train to latch onto.
This new breakvan looks awesome, my only problem is that it might have been better to have “N W” on the side, as Sodor Railway is known as The North Western Railway
I personally like to imagine the Sodor Line Cabooses as being something the NWR ordered from the US to help out with goods trains, and are much stronger then native UK brake vans.
I really like this idea.
@@GeohToythanks!
I'm pretty sure the "SR" stands for "Sothern Rail"
*I love wood work 🗣🗣‼️‼️‼️*
What Music did you use when you were sanding off the paint?
I love it
Now this is peak 😎
3:30 it’s fun to watch this, but with it sped up
You know that the Island Of Sodor's railway is called the Northwestern Railway or NWR or, on rolling stock, NW.
Breakvan looks like it’s from the southern railway or SR
THAT UK BRAKE VAN LOOKS FUCKING COOL
WOW IT'S BEAUTIFUL 😊😮😮😮😮😮😊😊😊😊😊😊
James: Brakevans. I don't see why I need a brakevan at all, I've never had accidents.
STH: GORDON!!!!
Plz make more of those
Finally, Wooden British Caboose…..
Did you make those tug models in the background also the breakvan looks great!
Do you mean the barge? If yes I did make that! The Tugs themselves were made by ERTL. Thanks for watching.
Oh ok yeah I meant the tug boats
I’m American, and I HATE the word caboose, it’s not because of it being used for describing someone’s behind (though that is a factor) it doesn’t describe what it’s meant to do, brake van not only rolls off the tongue better, but it all describes what it does! Helps and engine and its train brake!
Well if I am correct which I don’t think I am but isn’t the word caboose used for the back passenger area of a train and break van used for the brake van?
@@MSRT3-vr5qu maybe people do say it for that sometimes, but every American I’ve met has called it a caboose!
I don’t know I like both equally
I feel like the only thing I’m not really a fan of are the letters SR. While you intended it to stand for “Sodor Railway,” I can’t stop mistaking it for the real-life Southern Railway.
Personally, I believe it would’ve been better to use the letters NW because the main standard-gauge railway is officially called the “North Western Railway.”
Other than that however, this is a nice custom you’ve made here. Definitely adds variety in rolling stock.
As usual, we can count on the fans to make amazing custom models, while the official company doesn't even try.
In my opinion, not enough Thomas merchandise lines have British brake vans, Thomas Wooden Railway being one of them. Yes, they have characters like Toad and the Spiteful Brake Van, but most of the time, they have American cabooses like the Sodor Line Caboose. I've had to make my own custom brake van models, namely from some of Thomas Wooden Railway's competitors. I made the W&L Brake Van from an Orbrium brake van, Bradford and the LMS Brake Van from modified Maxim cabooses, and the BR 20 Ton Brake Van using a 3D printed model from NickTF89 that I ordered from eBay and the chassis of what once was the Dino Fossil Car that came with Oliver's Fossil Freight.
I would suggest a table vice to secure pieces for better leverage
10:11 Tell us about your Ertl Barrington!
Maybe I'll have to do a video on him ;) Thanks for the comment!
That has lead!😮 Look up Thomas and friends lead toys
Maybe its an okder/newer one without lead
Yes I have 😅
Could’ve named the van Ivan of Ireland but it’s your chose
The next custom I think you should makes is a preserved engin that’s I sent talk a lot on the fandom! Look on up and make a plan dude that’s makes more audience
Screwlink and knuckle couplers are not the same. They interact with rolling stock/locomotives with the same coupler type, not each other.
9:16 New Duck Custom Spotted. (Sneak Peek)
9:17
Bro said that’s it.
**unamericans your brakevan**
are you going to make a video of how you fix the wooden railway duck model you made bc i saw a sneak peek of duck being updated
soon ;)
i wonder if your going to make a custom edward that has the right wheel arrangement and maybe make the tender abig longer like the domless engine custom's
@@GeohToy
I actively never got tbe caboose in my collection 😂
Same
if you want my advice? i would've cut the entire roof of and used an annie/clarabel roof in its place
True, but I do prefer for it to be one part of the model, but a good suggestion to others who might want to try it. Thanks for the comment!
It's Henry's turn
I've been planning to do Henry for a while, might have to do him soon!
7:16 1996 was the year that space jam was released
0:43 Crash Bash OST
Honestly, I can empathize with how much of a bitch it was to remove the chassis of a caboose. It was quite a challenge for me because I was working with a 2013 variant of it.
Great work dude, I hope you make a video about how you made Duck.
Oh don't get me started on the 2013+ mattel stuff, those are HELL to take apart. I'd love to see what you did with it though!
And thank you on Duck, there may or may not be a video on him coming out Saturday ;)
@@GeohToy Oh that's wonderful.
Well, I still have the beat-up caboose body, it still has some plastic bits at the bottom, it looks like MATTEL had superglued the chassis to the body as well as with plastic screws.
I used the chassis to make a custom slate car I built from scratch.
@@GeohToyUpdate: if you check my community posts, you'll see what I'm cooking rn. And yes, the nail is a bitch for me as well.
Uh oh Percy struck the explody boys
His duck model is in this video he showed the model before the video even came out
1:21 😮😮😮😮
My dude, you didn’t deserve to go through the pain of cutting a genuine brake van. However, I do like the end results. Great job.
Also, WHY DID YOU HAVE TO EXPLODE PERCY???
Percy has such an "explosive" personality... I had to showcase it! Thanks for the comment!
Amazing custom dude! Just wondering how did you do your sticker decals?
Soon will be covered in another video
0:32 Sir Topham Breakvan
8:58 I see you have a lot more custom mind showing them off? (Like Duck)
Soon ;)
Custom idea: BCE (Big City Engine)
That top bit is called a cupola
I want to make my own unity van
Can you do Edward next please, it will be awesome. Edward restore video = views (it's only a suggestion)
Fantastic model! Though I would personaly only use one slice of craft wood - This is a bit too tall.
I used a haunted caboose to make a brake van
It was easy for me
9:17 custom Duck???
Can we get a close up of Duck? 👀
Very soon he will be in a video ;)
How much you wanna bet I could make a 3d print for half of difficulty this took
Its true, 3D printing really could really be a much more convenient option in this situation, but this was more of taking something I had and transforming it into something new, rather than just 3D printing. I am looking into purchasing a 3D Printer in future to assist in modeling projects in future.
@@GeohToy I recently got a 3d printer and it’s awesome, I even made a mini Percy and it’s adorable
should make a face for him or have someone 3d print one for you to add to Ivan
I'd really be interested in doing that, thanks for the suggestion
Where’s the modification video of Duck?
Aiming for mid March.
@@GeohToy Ok.
WELL??????
@@sunwoolee2645 What? Was I being ungrateful?
@@JaxonOsterhoutno I was talking to geoh
I think you should’ve put NW for north western, also have you ever tried doing a RWS only character?
I'd like to give one a shot! I've gotten a few requests for the engines in the shed in Edward's Day Out. Any suggestions?
@@GeohToy maybe alled greedy (the red engine in the sheds), jock the miniature engine, or 16

Sodor railway!!! NW!! north westernn
.
I was named after a breakvan?
Make LNER Toby and his brothers
American trains and british trains aint the same thing!
This would have been a lot easier if you used a TWR Henrietta
True, but a TWR Henrietta is 25$+ for me. So this was more difficult but more cost effective.
Fair
Where’s the music credits?
The top part is called a cupola.
Will it have a face?
Possibly in future!
When 98462?
4:03
It would probably be easier to just start from scratch
