    The hatch is looking great Jon. I'm digging the banner matching the wheels. I think you should get another set of centers so you can have options.

    I have this same base car, but WOOOOOOOOW(!) you've turned it into a work of art! I lived in Japan between 1994-1999, so I was there during the heyday of, "Japanese Supercars." I think it was the only time in history, when I could just walk out the front door, and see -- just rolling naturally around on the street -- things like FD RX-7s, Supras, Skyline GT-Rs, and NSXs. And, believe it or not, the EF9 Civic SiRs were right there in the thick of it. Now, because I have been an EF fan since 1988, it was just natural for me to gravitate towards the JDM version, and yeah, they made me drool. My goal was always to return to Canada, and re-create what I saw in Japan. Unfortunately, the best I could ever get was the CDM ED7 which, while good, isn't the, "best." Jon, what you have created here makes me drool, in the good, old-fashioned, Osaka/Kobe/Himeji way. Don't ever sell that car...of if you do, notify me first, eh? Haha.

    The reason you're seeing those things with the hoses is because silicone hoses absorb coolant after a while. And yours being 5 years all that coolant you were topping up in the overflow is inside the hose itself

    Yo Jon you could always throw some hood spacers on to stop the hood from hitting the valve cover, I went the cheap route and got longer bolts and stuck a couple of washers on the bolts cause I was having a similar issue

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад +1

      I put a piece of small doubled sided tape on the hood. I left the side facing down with the covering over the adhesive. It seems to have worked so far. I'm not a fan of lifted hoods, it ruins the body lines for me unfortunately so that route is a no-go.

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад +1

      pilgrum Thanks man, appreciate that comment! I think it's tough. I don't have any experience with it unfortunately. I have seen people use a carbon hood that is raised like a JDM hood and that works. Even cutting the webbing on a stock hood still won't be enough.

    Hey Jon, i bought the skunk2 intake manifold as well as the 66mm TB for the B16a in which my case like yours is obd0. On the back where the iac valve goes, it lines up with the bolt holes but doesn’t seem like it’s a solid seal where the gasket goes as if since it’s for all b16s might be different in some case. Seeing your setup runs well Im assuming you’re using the stock IAC off the oem B16a manifold like me, is that what I’m supposed to use?

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  5 лет назад

      Yes. I had no problems at all. It fit fine and sealed perfect!

  • @Dubst3pT3ch

    Silicone hoses sweat as in they evaporate fluid through the hose. The crusty stuff is most likely just dried coolant which tends to dry into a white crusty layer. Silicone hoses don't last as long as rubber I've found anyway so it's probably best to change them now being 5 years old.

      Garage Built Hondas did it end up wiping off? was there actuall corosion in the silicone or was it just on surface? maybe was coolant sprayed from the overflow hose or something very small that sprayed all over... or couldve been battery acid that spattered out...

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад +1

      It didn't. I've always kept the engine bay clean. It started seeping from the inside. Maybe the OEM Honda coolant did it, I really don't know.

    Man would a da integra radiator work in a ef? To avoid the inlet size issues.ive got a GSR b18c1 in my ef and using stock integra hoses on a si radiater just looks janky to me

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  5 лет назад

      It's not a bolt in fit, but I'm sure you could get it to work.why not upgrade to an aluminum radiator and not have sizing issues? It would help with your swap also.

    Hey Jon.. great video! Appreciated the editing of the center cap purchase/delivery/unpacking - great way to set the mood! Curious to know if you would consider making/selling NARU stickers? Love the meaning of it the term (font is super cool too) ✌️

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад

      +Tommy Kim Thabks for that, appreciate the comment!! I would, you'd have to pick the colors you'd want and you have to apply everything yourself. There is the banner which you'll cut to fit, and you'll have to squeegee out the water. Not too hard at all. And finally applying the lettering. That's the easy part. I get them for $25 from a local guy.

    Nice work on your EF! super clean work 👍🏼
    Couple questions/suggestions:
    Can you show what the internal differences of the JDM to US airboxes are, in another video perhaps?
    Looks like you could've possibly reused the US bottom section with the jdm upper half and not have to fuss with making a custom bracket. The US inlet arm section looks like it tapers in while the JDM looks straight if I'm seeing things right.
    Does the skunk2 tower bar require any light mods for fitment such as fuse box trimming?
    Thanks!

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  6 лет назад

      Thank you!!
      The JDM air box is just larger. The US bottom section would not fit with the upper JDM cover. Both are about 1" longer than the USDM counterparts.
      I don't believe there is a huge advantage to using the JDM one except to say that you are. Lol
      Skunk2 bar fits perfect, I had to move the wiring that's normally sticking up but I had already moved the bracket and move the wiring down into the engine bay a little bit.

      Jon Widmer hey Jon on my car the Pedel goes all the way down still I bleed the system and it's not getting enough press to close the calipers in the rear could it be the master cylinder or the brake booster I say the brake booster because when it idling and I press on the brake it changes the idel I hear a lot of air leaking from under the dash

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад +1

      That sounds like you have a leaking booster. The booster operates off of vacuum and when you press the pedal it assists in pushing the fluid to the calipers. Yours sounds like it is leaking with what you described. If it was my car, I would replace the booster and master cylinder at the same time. A new master cylinder isn't very expensive.

    Do you have ac in the car or was that taken out due to the swap?

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад

      +Shaun Garfinkel I removed it for cleanliness of the engine bay. It wasn't working when I bought the car 5 years ago and didn't want to spend money on rebuilding it. This is not a daily driver. This car is driven only for pleasure and probably 1200-1500 miles a year all for fun only so AC is not a necessity on this car.

    • @shaungarfinkel2812
      @shaungarfinkel2812 7 лет назад +1

      Ok I gotcha I'm doing a ef swap right now and I'm just trying to see what I need to get the ac to work

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад

      +Shaun Garfinkel if you're going with a B swap, Innovative makes a bracket to mount the D series AC compressor onto the B series engine. Everything else will stay the same.

      @@GarageBuiltHondas I’m amazed at some of the questions you get asked... I guess some people don’t know how to use google... theres Honda tech threads from 20 years ago that describe step by step how to do a swap in an EF... I guess some people are too lazy to investigate for themselves.

      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад

      Thanks dude, I really hadn't spent any time or money on it in the last couple years, and it feels good to start making it "straight fuckin class" as you would say! lol You're the 2nd person to ask about a banner and I definitely wouldn't mind having others rock them, that'd be pretty awesome. They cost about $30 and it's all self applied though. The banner itself you have to cut to fit, then you need to apply the lettering. The lettering is easy as it's already a decal. The hardest part is applying the banner but it's not hard at all either.

      Usually no, but the K&N do make more than a stock replacement because the filter element has a much better flow rate.

    I got a question, I have a B20b motor swapped over to a 2000 hx civic. Now my coolant switch works bc I get a reading on the dash gauge but my fan won't kick on and I tested the fan motor and it works, anyone ever heard of this before???

    • @GarageBuiltHondas
      @GarageBuiltHondas  7 лет назад +1

      The coolant fan switch is the one on the thermostat housing. The temperature sensor is the small one pin plug under the distributor and that is the one that shows the temp on your gauge cluster. You may want to check the wiring to the coolant switch, or possibly try a new one.
