I can't tell you how many times I've avoided sitting down at my kit for most of a day (bc ADHD makes starting things difficult) only to stumble across one of your videos demonstrating a groove or fill or something and immediately been inspired to go sit down and play (and then, as long as I'm already there, practice). Fr fr, you are both a great teacher who explains things in a way that I immediately understand and an inspiration to practice and get better. Thank you for everything you do.

I don’t think I’ve seen a drumming tutorial quite like this style before. I’ve seen lots of Shorts teaching a short groove/fill but I like how this is a bit longer and breaks how to count it out loud to yourself and how to practice the trickier parts in their own smaller sections.
Thanks for all your effort and passion you pour into your videos. It’s evident from the amount of content, the quality, the polls, it feels like it’s ever growing for you and I hope it does in the best way for you. Keep it up🎉

Nice! I would love to see this incorporated into the traditional groove with 8th notes on the hi-hats. That way, you have variety and can avoid the stagnation most of us beginners have because we lack the ability to build our own grooves and fills.

Just have a go!… orchestrate how ever you want. I’ve been playing for decades and love Emma’s videos. I get something out of most of these I watch regardless of the complexity of the groove/fill… for eg, I’ve played that groove a million times but where Emma demos the second phrase at 2:15 I’m here thinking “cool… that’s sounds really intriguing played at that pace. I’ll have a go at using it to write with.” I’ve never noticed this before. One of the best things about playing an instrument is stumbling across things like this. I also find a tonne of little licks/riffs/grooves in the mistakes I make (am a guitarist as well)… sorry for the long comment… Beginner drummers!… The world needs more!… enjoy the ride.

Emma, time for cosmic thinking. You need to expand upon the universal reason for playing drums. Think of drums as the ocean which blankets 2/3rds of our planet. Whether you are on the shores of Deception Island in Antarctica or the the beach at Bali, or shores of Dover, the ocean connects you world wide. (Most people in the world, at least here in the US, gravitate to living on the coasts.)
Drums are like the ocean. They are the universal constant in music and unite all other instruments in music. Just as beaches represent other instruments, they are nothing without the ocean view.
And music is the universal language of people all over the world.
