Some of their van prices are mad mind you 2009 Apharo was reduced to 49K , you can pick them up for around 30K now as need a C1 and very old-fashioned inside. Some of the dealers are offering discounts BUT their prices were in a few cases way too high on used stock. Seems people aren't dropping used prices as much now but some vans are sitting on forecourts a while. Tried haggling with some and not going far enough to move their older stock as they bought over price stock.
I would totally echo what you are saying here on the older stock….some dealers have a lot sitting there and these are the ones likely to face a problem. Some dealers are taking a smaller profit margin or break even to clear older and used through so they are not sitting on them. Not advocating the prices as Salop was just having a mooch and agree some are way off with pricing. Deals can be had dependent on dealer appetite to shift them, some are blinded by what they paid for them, A good example was our last motorhome we traded in - the dealer gave us almost £9k more than any other offer against a new one… like for like. They then marketed it way too high and it sat for 3 months (was only two years old and 3.5t) but they reduced it and in the end only took £1k more than we got.. but the vehicle shifted and they not stuck with it. Think it is worse in the caravans at the moment, some dealers are not even getting back what they paid for part ex. Good luck with your search though. I am predicting more reductions over the winter as the 2025 ones landing on forecourts and there’s lots of 23/24 models new still up for grabs and this will put pressure down in the layers. Seems dealers re not wanting to sit on the credit lines of the new models they have committed to and this is probably where the better deals are. Still some way to go in this market…
