Two Guys, Two Dogs, Four Wheels
Добавлен 8 авг 2022
Two Guys, Two Dogs, Four Wheels (formerly The Tracker Travels). We are Andrew & Jamie. Two guys from Northamptonshire with a passion for our travels and our motorhome! Our dogs are Oreo (Miniature Colourful Yorkshire terrier) and Zorro (Toy Poodle). We are interested in the motorhome market, the new models and manufacturer developments too! Maybe some insight can help you too! We purchased our first motorhome, ‘Betty’ (the four wheels) a Bailey Autograph 75-2 in May 2021 as a switch from owning caravans, before trading up in June 2022 to a new AutoTrail Tracker LB. In 2024 we had the opportunity to upgrade again to a Swift Escape 694 and have named her Sophia.. Our main portal for our adventures can be found on our Instagram channel: the.tracker.travels

Thanks for the comments. We do indeed! Certainly a market for most that is a luxury. A&J
Great informative videos enjoyed that😊😊👏👏
@@grahamlongdon8448 thank you. Shall keep them coming over the winter.
Thanks for the video and analysis Andrew. After only 9 months we're trying to sell a 2023 well specced layout we realised didn't work for us. We know we're going to lose a significant amount. That's life. It's taking a long time though. But I suppose what we're looking to buy as a replacement will also be lower. But for now we're in limbo. I wish I wasn't watching these videos and was out of the market. 😢
Oh we feel for you being in limbo. We went through this with our first one realising the layout did not work but we were lucky with timing back then….however, we understand your point as we have been considering what to do next. Good luck in your search though! A&J
Great summary of the market. It’s all very quiet out there, which is normal for the pre Christmas period but where there is a genuine bargain there is a little movement. Let’s hope the spring brings more action and the dealers can get busy again. Have a great December 👍🏻😃🚐💙 Trev
Thanks Trev. Yes very quiet out there so can see why there are some good buys in amongst the not so… given the time of year and large stocks. I am genuinely hoping we are finding a ‘level’ now as we enter 2025 to give dealers and buyers some stability. Wishing you guys a good December too! Looking forward to our Sandringham ‘Twixmas’ again! :)
Hi keep going you are doing a Good Job thanks Andrew.
Thank you! It’s been interesting to see the current position…. Lots to choose from now. I shall take a look at the new offers - some interesting deals to be had!
Hi. I have a 2024 Swift Voyager 594 automatic with Ford cab which I am up plating to 4000kg without any modifications through Svtech. Excellent motorhome, so far.
We did toy with having the Voyager… but got a good deal on our Escape. How are you finding the Ford cab?
Excellent. Previous was a 2019 Swift 694 with Fiat cab. Had so many problems. Loss of power, airbag module replaced, water leaking into engine via drain pipe and more. The 74 plate automatic Voyager 594 is a smoother ride, more power, lighter steering. So far no problems. Good luck. Clive.
With an A class I never bought one because if the screen cracks, you will probably wait a long time for a replacement.
Not sure we shall go for an A Class - can’t get past the perceived width and understand your point too as was watching the Motorhoming Mums who had just this happen and took them off the road for the screen to come from Europe.
I think Coachman need to step up their game. Wood is too dark, shower too small, front windows too small and the curtain fabrics are nasty. The control panel is tech from 1980s with no app connectivity. The fruit bowl sink looks nice but isn't practical, wet hands dribble all over the counter when turning the tap off. The light switches are in silly places and it's a guess which light every time you use them and the lighting is pretty poor too. Not sure why they've switched to the thetford fridges, personally I think the dometics were better and looked much nicer. Also, the rear panel design means that water drips off the brake light onto the ledge below and it's like chinese water torture through the night. All a bit dated and frumpy and lacking modern tech. Its a shame because the build quality is fantastic, just let down by poor design. I'm upgrading my 2021 845 and going for a Swift Elegance instead. It addresses all those issues and is a much nicer and more modern van. Catch up Coachman! Forgot to mention the taped seams on the walls that peels off 😠
It is good to hear your perspective as an owner. We do quite like the Coachman for the build quality but our option two would be a Buccaneer rather than a Swift caravan. Liking the contemporary styling in the Swift though. Enjoy your new van when you get it! A&J
Thanks 🙏
You are most welcome

Short of money as stock is not selling
Some dealers have a lot of money tied up in stagnant stock. Costing them on interest with the manufacturers where they are new.
I think many business owners are looking at this new governments heavy taxing policy and just thought , it’s time to pack up and walk away.
@@sallen2779 sadly this was months before a new government and this business had got backed into a corner for many other reasons. Overstocked, loans on stock flow and not able to weather the slow down in the market.
Oh dear that's sad 😢
I know… not good.
Thanks for your views on the market. It's interesting to hear other thoughts. We're trying to sell a higher end young van. Being new to motorhoming I can't believe the difference in part exchange prices. On a used van many dealers won't accept px despite saying so in their advertising. Others have offered in the low £50's. On a new 2025 van we've been offered up to £70k. But we've abandoned looking at brand new because in my opinion the extra capital input can't be justified for the lack of added value frankly. We're selling through a broker instead and will then try to buy a 3-5 year old van.
I think you have also highlighted some interesting points here. We were hypothetically looking at what we could do to change our Swift for an Adria - the difference between dealers on a new was incredible - a £12k difference and the surprising lower ball was against an old-shape Ducato that needs shifting and been sat in a showroom for a few months… also seeing that the bigger dealers have too much used stock so not wanting more of same. Good luck with your sale and search too! Appreciate the feedback and insights you have brought here too.
Great video & great insight in to the market at the moment. Another thing that’s bugging me just now is the warranty. iv called around 8 dealers enquiring about a van in the £60,000 range and they are all offering 3 month warranty and when i query this some say we can extend to 6 months. There is no way on this earth im parting with over £60,000 and getting a 3-6 month warranty. it all seems ludicrous to me. Second hand cars of that value will get 12 months at least. The market is definitely cooling down and for me dealers need to trust what they are selling & over a little bit more
Warranties are essential and the devil in the detail with them too. I know we got 12 months standard on our first used van which could be extended annually. I would want more than 3 months too!
@@twoguystwodogsfourwheels Oaktree give 3 years. Seems like a no brainer to me. Why would anyone accept 3-6 months whenshopping around you gets you 3 years.
£40K for a 17 plate.. you would have to be absolutely mental to pay that
Have you been following prices?
Hence the nod to the variability in prices. Buyers market and seeking out the best you can get for the money.
Interesting view of the market. We sold our motorhome back to our dealer at the end of May. Out of curiosity I keep an eye on the dealer website (one of the dealers you featured in your video) Interestingly it seems not to have sold in five months and they have only recently reduced the asking price by £2000. It was a 19 plate van with less than 10000 miles on the clock and quite a few upgrades like Alloys, MaxxAir and Bike Rack. I am beginning to think I got quite a good deal.
Sounds like you might have! Some stuff is just sitting around and like caravans models and layouts are in and out of favour too, for example seeing a lot of twin bed motorhomes around at the moment and discounted. Hoping we see a levelling over winter so dealers and buyers have more confidence going into 2025.
Karma is a bitch
Hi Guys. As evidence for your market updates, though for new CamperVans, without naming the Dealership, in-process of buying a brand new Swift Carrera CamperVan 2025 model, so brand new, delivered before Xmas to Dealership, with nearly £5000 discounted, part NEC discounts, part Dealership discounts. Interesting times in this genre of leisure industry. What appears to be happening, perception based only as have no data, people like myself, are buying CamperVans they like, but not at the expensive real high end (£90,000 & above) & then adding a lot of aftermarket mods (Lithium battery upgrades, internet, full air suspension, self levelling, off-road wheels for look and practicality, diesel heaters, further winterisation above heated fresh and waste water tanks, with thermal rapping, so really can use in all weathers off grid, plus a host of other add-ons I will not list here. Then at least you get the CamperVan you want and not what a manufacturer, large or small believes it’s customer’s want. Plus ends-up a lot cheaper over-all. Informative video again, thank-you, as agree with all views expressed in this video. Personally, pop-tops, are for a certain type of camper, as likely to be more seasonal than all year round types. This is due to heat egress, damp ingress and high winds or really bad weather, has to be dropped and closed. Living in UK if wanting to get all year round use and value from purchase, especially in scenic places by the South West Coast or Highlands of Scotland, then a pop-top, has this consideration. But great extra space for families in a smaller space vehicle who are seasonal campers. I see the CamperVan, Motorhome market as very similar to the housing market. Lots of supply, though much is not of high quality meaning not high sales, though they are trickling along with the quality, as it is a buyers market with choice. So the supply is building-up, which means at some point something has to give, as with all supply and demand. It is also the time of year I see far too many Motorhomes and CamperVans driving around UK roads on summer tyres. Minimum should be on All Season, if not Winter graded tyres, as these 4 tyres are the only thing connecting you to the road. People don’t due to cost of changing out between winter and summer, or from pure ignorance, but for normally less than £600 to £800, depending on quality of tyre manufacture, it is nothing when compared to cost of saving your life or that of other road users or pedestrians. Think winter, think tyres, even windscreen wipers, as summer wipers are different from winter wipers! Thanks guys!
Thank you for this comprehensive and thoughtful reply and it is very much welcomed. Yes I am seeing a lot of buy and modify too - we have done this with ours rather than going top end (that does not always get you exactly what you want either). Great advice for the winter too - good to point that out for folks. It is very different in winter - whether that be the tyres, the temperatures or how you’d keep warm in a pop-top! Take Care, A&J

One of a few gimmicks that Swift & other manufacturers produce, to help ‘sell’ leisure industry vehicles. Know how you use a leisure vehicle, understand practical application of layouts, which then saves getting a vehicle, with a space-waster table set-up as exampled in this video. That said, on Swift’s customer research analysis a number of years ago, their older & younger customers were asking for such a gadget table. Once they saw it & used it, they told Swift they did not like it. Issue is Swift had already ordered the components and this is why the table is still fitted in current models. Lesson to be learned surely! When giving feed-back, have costumers seriously done their own real needs analysis and practicality thinking process, to such recommendations they make. Simple answer, ‘No’. So blame Swifts customer survey base, not necessarily Swift. That said, they are as culpable, as they did not market test the actual item properly, before brining it to market. Yet, crazily, people still buy these vehicles when they know already in their minds this table is not practical & takes-up undue space. So arguably, it’s a gimmick that worked! Kudos to Swift!
For all the issues with Swift quality, at least they are British & we should all support British businesses who employ British workers. Swift market pricing compared to other large or small manufacturers, is aimed more at an affordability customer, than the wealthy classes. Anything that moves, shakes, vibrates and becomes loose, is the reality of motion. If entering this luxury leisure industry genre of holidaying, just like a Camper living under canvass in a tent, you need to be your own handy fixer type of person. Sadly, many live in a utopia world dislocated from reality of facts with any item that moves and is driven. We live in a world where people want perfection while not willing to pay for it. As I describe it, the office class or workers moving to an out of office leisure industry find straight away, the simple compatibility or realistic expectations is dislocated, due to lack of knowledge and experience with practicality. The first thing I ever loaded into a tent, a caravan and then a CamperVan was my tool box, with everything from spare screws, brackets, glue, tape, fuzes and tools. Utrinque Paratus, translated, means ‘Ready For Anything’. It evidences how society would collapse very quickly in modern societies in time of National Emergencies, as the ruggedness, adaptability with lateral thinking of us as humans, is not as common as opinions of complaints always expressed by keyboard, microphone & camera. But, as long as we learn from experiences, adjust expectations, then we minimise dislocation and mental health issues. All of that said, you are correct with issues of quality in UK manufacturing and this leisure industry as a whole. It is a little part of the reason, the industry demand is falling, even though supply has increased. Like buying a car, you test, trial EVERYTHING before leaving the dealership. Every handover of a caravan or CamperVan I’ve done, often to the frustration of the dealership, I take 2 whole days to complete. This is so all snags are identified, evidenced and repairs completed, before I hand-over money and I drive off. Due to snags found, from day of initial hand-over, I haven’t left a dealership with my new vehicle, within that same week as handover day. The world is cruel and you have to be direct, firm, but respectful to get the large money buy (Anything over £50 for me) at the standard you are expecting. Best of luck and hopefully both your experiences will have taught you much, hardened your views on taking-over items at a dealership and made you plan ahead for the unknown realities of an item, that has motion, which evidently will have the need to be constantly fixed.
Great vlog and ideas. We were at the NEC last month and still like the layout and finish of the swift 640. We compared it to 6 or 7 other brands some of which seemed to have a solid build, but we still felt more comfortable in the swift.

Don’t think we will ever use the table in full position. Only had the van 4 days and already a niggle, absolutely agree with you can’t get legs under and round the leg, stupid position. Wish I had the know how to take it out but then wouldn’t have option to covert to a bed on the odd occasion it will be needed!
We liked the idea of it bit living with it is different matter and we won’t remove as makes the bed at front. Not just us then!
Such a silly feature, when a fold out table would be sufficient and not get in the way as much. And in the long run, I'm sure it won't be too long before the motor or the leg itself will need replacing, like a drop-down bed motor, etc.

@@fredjones8791 Point taken. To be fair there was a couple waiting to come in but get what you are saying. Thank you for the feedback.
A useful analysis as ever, thank you. Amazing that there are still new 2023 models at dealers. And of course all this discounted new stock will ripple down to the used market. I think it's going to mean motorhomers holding onto their vans for longer to avoid suffering losses. Turning over after a short ownership is going to be costly in this market sadly.
Thank you… yes and plentiful stock of higher end 2023 model year vehicles out there. Interestingly there is quite a lot of Adria, Malibu, Burstner etc. on 2024 coming through with discounts. You may well be right… the ripple will continue into the used values across the board. Shall do some more shortly. Thanks for the comments. A
That was enjoyable it looks like an immaculate site.😊👏👏
It was! We really enjoyed our stay there.
Some of their van prices are mad mind you 2009 Apharo was reduced to 49K , you can pick them up for around 30K now as need a C1 and very old-fashioned inside. Some of the dealers are offering discounts BUT their prices were in a few cases way too high on used stock. Seems people aren't dropping used prices as much now but some vans are sitting on forecourts a while. Tried haggling with some and not going far enough to move their older stock as they bought over price stock.
I would totally echo what you are saying here on the older stock….some dealers have a lot sitting there and these are the ones likely to face a problem. Some dealers are taking a smaller profit margin or break even to clear older and used through so they are not sitting on them. Not advocating the prices as Salop was just having a mooch and agree some are way off with pricing. Deals can be had dependent on dealer appetite to shift them, some are blinded by what they paid for them, A good example was our last motorhome we traded in - the dealer gave us almost £9k more than any other offer against a new one… like for like. They then marketed it way too high and it sat for 3 months (was only two years old and 3.5t) but they reduced it and in the end only took £1k more than we got.. but the vehicle shifted and they not stuck with it. Think it is worse in the caravans at the moment, some dealers are not even getting back what they paid for part ex. Good luck with your search though. I am predicting more reductions over the winter as the 2025 ones landing on forecourts and there’s lots of 23/24 models new still up for grabs and this will put pressure down in the layers. Seems dealers re not wanting to sit on the credit lines of the new models they have committed to and this is probably where the better deals are. Still some way to go in this market…
Very well put together and encouraging. I’m chomping on the bit for a purchase, but realise going in to the winter there is no point pushing ahead too soon. From experience some dealers won’t entertain even the smallest discount on the listed price, confident there is still momentum at this time of year. That may well change over the winter, I hope! All the best.
@@shen7256 Thank you - we are hoping so too… our friends have just bought new at the NEC with discount and extras thrown in, lots of stock on forecourts and lots of 2024 models kicking around, Double whammy this year, new model year and the new Fiat/Peugeot/Citroen cab dates the current models so they will be keen to offload the current cabs/motorhomes so maybe holding nerve is not a bad thing. Good luck in your search - I am hoping to get some more updates out soon!
Great guys fantastic campsite hope you both enjoyed the welsh hospitality
@@martincollins7916 It’s a great site and we have been made very welcome!
Thanks for your intelligent & impartial overviews. As ever, in the end it is the market which determines the prices, if the market deems the deals good, the vans (just like any commodity) will sell.
You are most welcome. Indeed. Just that. But when i did the maths on the number of vans for sale it’s a lot of stock to sit on. The NEC is buoyant and customers there. Personally know a few people buying this week.
@@twoguystwodogsfourwheels I imagine the interest payments will be kicking in for the dealers on the unsold stock as the 25 year models come on line. Given the visible cab change, those who ‘must have the latest’ won’t want the ‘old’ model - for canny buyers it may pay to hold their nerve & go in hard on negotiations- easier to do when plenty of other options and a real change from 20/21 when dealers had buyers desperately lined up for limited stock.
@@petermccall6880 Yes it’s the dealers who will be feeling it! We are holding out as would like an Adria and not fussed on new cab. Yes… autumn into winter I think folks should. They will want them gone.
@@twoguystwodogsfourwheels Very pleased with ours (Matrix Supreme). Mine now almost 3 years old - I’ve always changed cars at that age but having invested in hydraulic levellers, suspension, Lithium & some bespoke leather upholstery it doesn’t make economic sense to change & the good thing about Adria is reasonably solid build & little changes from year to year (cab this year notwithstanding). Happy hunting! P
@@petermccall6880 Thank you… good to hear your experience.
Why are you only on the side of the manufacturers ? It’s the public who will decide if vans are value for money not the likes of you kiss arses ? Why don’t you report on the trade in values for the same companies you pander after ? They are ripping people off offering piss por trade ins well below there market values
That was interesting very informative 😊😊
Thank you.
Thank you for your advice. I’m new to this and have already bought two motorhomes secondhand that were not suitable, when we actually used them. A lot to study before parting with money
Our first one was not quite right - the layout of the bed and bathroom did not work… so we stick to the research research research now. What got me into doing more of this. Yes lots to consider with such an expense.
these are not good deals there still overpriced
@@mattnolan5527 I agree that there is likely to be more room to deal on those out there, my point is that there is a significant supply and not the demand so something will have to give. Have a great day.
What lovely memories
@@ToniReynolds-m9t Thank you!
Really enjoyed that wish I was back there 😊👏👏
With this current weather so do we! Glad you liked that one
Good morning guys quick question what dash cam do you use please
@@martincollins7916 we have a NextBase
Hi guys great bit of filming are you going to invest in some alko hy4 system next
Thanks. We have considered whether this would be worth the investment… one for us to ponder, this motorhome or if we do another upgrade in a couple of years… they do look good bits of kit.
@thetrackertravels yes they do look great. The question I ask is, can the table be twisted around in my kontki 774? Yes, it can as you slide it and twist it .anyway, the videos are really great. There is plenty of information we'll done on this.regards Martin
You can’t blame them for the 4g signal, can you?
@@patmcg4755 No blame around mobile networks really - more just worth noting as we all rely on connectivity for a variety of things. For example downloading your return passes for the Le Shuttle…
