Great video & great insight in to the market at the moment.
Another thing that’s bugging me just now is the warranty.
iv called around 8 dealers enquiring about a van in the £60,000 range and they are all offering 3 month warranty and when i query this some say we can extend to 6 months.
There is no way on this earth im parting with over £60,000 and getting a 3-6 month warranty. it all seems ludicrous to me.
Second hand cars of that value will get 12 months at least.
The market is definitely cooling down and for me dealers need to trust what they are selling & over a little bit more

Warranties are essential and the devil in the detail with them too. I know we got 12 months standard on our first used van which could be extended annually. I would want more than 3 months too!

      @@twoguystwodogsfourwheels Oaktree give 3 years.
Seems like a no brainer to me.
Why would anyone accept 3-6 months whenshopping around you gets you 3 years.

Thanks for your views on the market. It's interesting to hear other thoughts.
We're trying to sell a higher end young van. Being new to motorhoming I can't believe the difference in part exchange prices. On a used van many dealers won't accept px despite saying so in their advertising. Others have offered in the low £50's. On a new 2025 van we've been offered up to £70k. But we've abandoned looking at brand new because in my opinion the extra capital input can't be justified for the lack of added value frankly.
We're selling through a broker instead and will then try to buy a 3-5 year old van.

I think you have also highlighted some interesting points here. We were hypothetically looking at what we could do to change our Swift for an Adria - the difference between dealers on a new was incredible - a £12k difference and the surprising lower ball was against an old-shape Ducato that needs shifting and been sat in a showroom for a few months… also seeing that the bigger dealers have too much used stock so not wanting more of same. Good luck with your sale and search too! Appreciate the feedback and insights you have brought here too.

Interesting view of the market. We sold our motorhome back to our dealer at the end of May. Out of curiosity I keep an eye on the dealer website (one of the dealers you featured in your video) Interestingly it seems not to have sold in five months and they have only recently reduced the asking price by £2000. It was a 19 plate van with less than 10000 miles on the clock and quite a few upgrades like Alloys, MaxxAir and Bike Rack. I am beginning to think I got quite a good deal.

Sounds like you might have! Some stuff is just sitting around and like caravans models and layouts are in and out of favour too, for example seeing a lot of twin bed motorhomes around at the moment and discounted. Hoping we see a levelling over winter so dealers and buyers have more confidence going into 2025.

Hi Guys. As evidence for your market updates, though for new CamperVans, without naming the Dealership, in-process of buying a brand new Swift Carrera CamperVan 2025 model, so brand new, delivered before Xmas to Dealership, with nearly £5000 discounted, part NEC discounts, part Dealership discounts.
Interesting times in this genre of leisure industry. What appears to be happening, perception based only as have no data, people like myself, are buying CamperVans they like, but not at the expensive real high end (£90,000 & above) & then adding a lot of aftermarket mods (Lithium battery upgrades, internet, full air suspension, self levelling, off-road wheels for look and practicality, diesel heaters, further winterisation above heated fresh and waste water tanks, with thermal rapping, so really can use in all weathers off grid, plus a host of other add-ons I will not list here. Then at least you get the CamperVan you want and not what a manufacturer, large or small believes it’s customer’s want. Plus ends-up a lot cheaper over-all.
Informative video again, thank-you, as agree with all views expressed in this video. Personally, pop-tops, are for a certain type of camper, as likely to be more seasonal than all year round types. This is due to heat egress, damp ingress and high winds or really bad weather, has to be dropped and closed. Living in UK if wanting to get all year round use and value from purchase, especially in scenic places by the South West Coast or Highlands of Scotland, then a pop-top, has this consideration. But great extra space for families in a smaller space vehicle who are seasonal campers.
I see the CamperVan, Motorhome market as very similar to the housing market. Lots of supply, though much is not of high quality meaning not high sales, though they are trickling along with the quality, as it is a buyers market with choice. So the supply is building-up, which means at some point something has to give, as with all supply and demand.
It is also the time of year I see far too many Motorhomes and CamperVans driving around UK roads on summer tyres. Minimum should be on All Season, if not Winter graded tyres, as these 4 tyres are the only thing connecting you to the road. People don’t due to cost of changing out between winter and summer, or from pure ignorance, but for normally less than £600 to £800, depending on quality of tyre manufacture, it is nothing when compared to cost of saving your life or that of other road users or pedestrians.
Think winter, think tyres, even windscreen wipers, as summer wipers are different from winter wipers! Thanks guys!

Thank you for this comprehensive and thoughtful reply and it is very much welcomed. Yes I am seeing a lot of buy and modify too - we have done this with ours rather than going top end (that does not always get you exactly what you want either). Great advice for the winter too - good to point that out for folks. It is very different in winter - whether that be the tyres, the temperatures or how you’d keep warm in a pop-top! Take Care, A&J

£40K for a 17 plate.. you would have to be absolutely mental to pay that

      Have you been following prices?

Hence the nod to the variability in prices. Buyers market and seeking out the best you can get for the money.
