Funchal in Madeira - has to the most Christmassy town in the world and is one of the most COVID safe countries. Walk through it’s streets around Christmas time, and enjoy it’s world famous lights and decorations. Ich war auch schon zwei mal dort. Das erste mal Ende der Achziger und dann zwanzig Jahre später. Nachdem ich aber von mehreren Freunde erfuhr, dass es geplant ist um die Insel die Autobahn zu bauen, interessiert es mich nicht mehr. Die Insel wird am Rande verbetoniert. Schade
Waren 2018 und 2020 im Januar auf Madeira. Würden immer wieder die Insel besuchen. Schade, dass es jetzt zur Zeit nicht möglich ist. Liebe Grüße von der Insel Rügen, die auch sehr schön ist.

I have been to Madeira twice but both occasions were during the summer months. This raw walk was truly fascinating for me. The lights and decorations were absolutely fabulous to the extent that I may consider going back to Funchal over Christmas sometime. Dear Renata, we can only say we feel the same and that the highlight of being here on RUclips is having made a new friend of you. An unexpected and valuable thing to us. Thank you for your lovely words and good wishes. We feel very fortunate indeed being here in Madeira (we arrived her just in time before the big lockdown in the uk). Iit seems to us that they have dealt so well here with their management of the virus so far. We isolated for 10 days before we came (although we didn’t have to) and we had an automatic test at the airport. So things feel comfortable here and as far as we can tell people are following the rules very well. It seems they are less worried about tourists that are in COVID safe environments and are not mingling that people in households returning for Christmas. Anyway so far we are here with gratitude. So take care dear friend and we wish you and all a happier year to come. Xx

Looks like the city went to great lengths to decorate the Municipal Garden (24:30 to 27:00). Any chance you can walk through that in more detail -- say do a 12-minute recording traversing all of the footpaths at dusk?

If you do film the Municipal Garden in more detail, start at the corner adjacent to the Hotel Madeira. There is a massive, massive tree there likely many centuries old. I wonder whether they decorated it... ?

Hi there Paul, good to hear from you. Well the weather this Jan/February was rather extraordinary, with just about every season, including snow on the peak. However as a getaway from Canadian snow I'd highly recommend it as in normal years there's sunshine and a pleasant 22 degrees most days.
Regarding what kind of camera we use, it's the DJI pocket 2 and we love it, especially in low light. All the best to you.

Our plan has been (and hope it will be again) to travel the world and bring as many walks to people as we can, especially those who cannot travel themselves. Hi Konrad, masks are compulsory in public places and there is an evening curfew. Otherwise the cafe's and shops are open.
