- Welcome to Madeira Islands, an archipelago situated at the top of a massive shield volcano in the Atlantic Ocean close to Africa, in a region known as Macaronesia.
In this video we would like to share with you some of the most interesting places on Madeira Island, including some waterfalls, beaches, villages and mountains, all captured in ultra HD 4K definition.

Ponta de Sao Lourenco is the easternmost point of the island of Madeira.
03:20 - Porto Moniz
Porto Moniz is a municipality in the northwest corner of the island and features a natural complex of lava pools that are popular with locals and tourists.
04:39 - Vereda dos Balcões
This short walk follows the levada of Serra do Faial, and gives access to the Balcões viewpoint with phantastic views over the valley of the Ribeira da Metade.
06:14 - Curral Das Freiras
Curral das Freiras is a civil parish situated in the mountainous interior of the island and it is geographically isolated from other communities by the cliffs and peaks surrounding its central valley.
07:19 - Achada do Teixeira
Achada do Teixeira is a mountain and a settlement of the freguesia of Santana and a popular starting point for hikes to mount Pico Ruivo, the highest peak on Madeira Island.
08:41 - Monte Palace
Monte Palace is a botanical garden in the city of Funchal showing plants, art objects, tile pictures and minerals.
09:45 - Ponta do Pargo Lighthouse
This lighthouse is situated on the westernmost tip of the Madeira island, at a cliff rising 290 metres above sea level.
10:22 - Ponta do Rosto
Ponta do Rosto Viewpoint is located in the northern part of the São Lourenço Peninsula and offers great views of the north and south coasts of Madeira Island.
11:03 - Ponta Do Sol
Ponta Do Sol is a historic settlement founded around 1425, shortly after the discovery of the island by Portuguese settlers.
12:16 - Risco waterfall
Risco Waterfall represents a group of waterfalls located in Rabaçal, and it is 100m high, consisting of a group of different water streams coming vertically down the mountainside.
13:49 - Ribeira Da Janela
Volcanic cliffs of Ribeira da Janela is one of the most famous tourist attraction on Madeira.
14:32 - Funchal
City of Funchal is the capital of Portugal's Autonomous Region of Madeira, bordered by the Atlantic Ocean.
16:44 - Paul da Serra
Paul da Serra in the municipal county of Ponta do Sol, it is the largest and most extensive plateau of Madeira with an altitude average of about 1,500 metres.

3 times I visited this wonderful island. It gets its share of rain, especially, during my times there in the Northwest around Porto Moniz & may be disappointing for those looking for beaches for sun bathing but the mild climate & variety of nature (Levadas in tunnels & along many scenic trails for example) won me over immediately. Madeira even has a.bit of high desert in the middle of the island not seen on this video. Plus the wonderful mountains & the wonderful swimming locales around Porto Moniz. On & on I could rhapsodize about this paradise forever!
Hello, yes Madeira is magic and we were there for three weeks in Oct. and largely captured the magic on film from the ground and from the air. We have published six parts of Madeira Magic and whoever sees these parts feels the magic of Madeira.
I noticed there were no beaches at all - all sheer mountains rising out of the sea. A gorgeous place, but not for the sunbathing folk ! I wonder who were the original inhabitants before the Portuguese found it !
