The best seafood I ate was in Egypt! The fried calamari with dipping sauce was so delicious, inexpensive and the highest quality! Better than all European destinations.
Really?! Where did you get the calamari? No offense to Egypt, but every calamari I have tried was pretty disappointing. I'd love to know where to get some good calamari here. All the other seafood I have tried here is great though, love the shrimp and the fish
@@Gventures no problem, I will tell you the exact place. I actually travelled to Alexandria. That is where I ate seafood, I noticed the restaurants had some Greek and Italian influence on the menu along with Egyptian. Also the Patisserie I went to were French influenced too. It was an amazing eclectic cuisine. The place I had the best Calamari with perfect crispy coating and sweet chill dipping sauce is at Old Street Cafe in downtown Alexandria. The Seafood Pasta Alfredo is unbelievable too. Seafood was caught and cooked the same day from the Mediterranean sea. The best cakes and cinammon bun (I highly recommend) was at Delices Patisserie which is 1 minute walk from Old Cafe. Theses are local and tourist cafes and restaurant. I recommend Caribe restaurant too by Stanley Bridge for their meat and salad dishes too, it has a sea view and people sit right on the sand.
I am 29 years old from Texas now living in Egypt my second home. I have to say, I do enjoy all of your videos you have an awesome personality and I am honestly well impressed by the way you handle yourself here in Egypt and deal with the people not knowing much Arabic. I myself sometimes find it a bit challenging because I am still learning the language here also. Very good job 👍👍
Thank you Omar! Haha, yeah learning Arabic is a real struggle! I am sure I would be much better if I had the time to fully dedicate myself to the language, but because I am also working and making videos with my free time, I do not give myself enough time to study Arabic and practice more. It's forever a struggle of mine, I hope I can find a way to consistently make room for my Arabic studies without sacrificing RUclips videos or working less (as I of course still need to work to survive 😅). Overall I LOVE Egyptian food. The pickles/pickled veggies are one thing I couldn't like even though I wanted to. Each time i travel to Egypt I have to take pickles from here for my husbands family as they love them. dill, sweet, pickled okra, green beans and others. I can't wait to go back!

Informative and entertaining as always, Gisselle! Thank you for giving us an insight into what is on offer at these local outlets. That fish looked delicious, along with the accompaniments! I think you did well with your Arabic. I went to night-classes to learn basic Arabic many years ago in London (when I was starting to visit Egypt), but I had to give up after a while because of its difficulty, especially the written word! So my basic Arabic is extremely basic!! The young men at the restaurant/kitchen in your video were so nice and helpful towards you, and I know this is typical of the Egyptians. Oh it's happening again already?! Wow that came up fast! I have to work that day, but if I had known I would have taken work off! I guess I will have to go next year...😕
Yeah but I don't have a sweet tooth so I never eat that many sweets anyway. I like sugar in my drinks, but it's easy to request drinks without sugar so, not a big issue. The bread is hard, if I want to eat out. I'm cooking more at home now and I suppose it's good because I'm saving a little money doing that
@Gventures me neither but hard when staying in hotel or hostel n cooking facilities limited to get the fresh veges, see them in markets but rarely in stakeout as used to having here...esp steamed greens. Love the local bread.
@@judithmartin6896 Yeah but I'm obviously talking about myself here, I said I am on a diet in the video. Then you said to eat healthier, but diets are bad. Yet a diet is just a restriction of certain foods. Less sugar, less bread, is my current diet. I love Egyptian bread too, and sugar, but I am trying to cut back on them. I live in an apartment, not a hostel or hotel, so I can do that.
Hey Gisselle! I am currently in Cairo as a female solo traveler and I would love to meet you❤ I've been watching all your videos, they were so helpful expecially now that I'm here! Thank you so much Elizz! If I have time I would love to meet you too, but I am not sure I will while you are here, I stay very busy with work 😅 How long will you be in Cairo for?
I'm leaving next week my dear, there is actually not much time.. If we are able to, I would be super happy to meet you, really :) If not, this for sure will be another good resson to come back to this amazing city. As always, great video Gisselle! This is my favorite seafood restaurant in Giza, and I still recommend you try their regular seafood soup (costs EGP 115 from the menu you showed) next time :) Also, their basic meal costs EGP 110 at the top-middle in the menu with a yellowish background, and it is made of: pickles, tahini, Sayadiah rice, fish fillet, and 4-6 shrimps.
Haha, nice! Yeah I remember you recommending me this place and finally made it out there. It's a good spot, I definitely plan to return there again. They also deliver I was told 😅 I will probably return to make a video about the soup though, when it cools. Thanks for the recommendation Darcy, it was delicious! ❤️🙏

"I found a new channel on RUclips a few weeks ago that I really love. In fact, it's the only thing I've watched in my free time lately. An American girl.. she is actually living there now, in Cairo. I wish I had a fraction of her courage 😌😆 She has videos at some of the places you've been (the pyramids of course, Salah El Din Citadel, the rock church, etc). All my mind could see was the photos of YOU standing in the places she was visiting .. and it just made me miss you soo much more." I quoted part of a friend of mine message, she is American and at mango coffee Mahmoud and Kareem also talked with me about you,That's what makes me subscribed to your channel, I'm happy for you, wishing you always be safe, happy and smiling with the 💓
Wow, that's so cool! And welcome to the channel! Lol I love that Mahmoud and Kareem and Mango Cafe mentioned me too, I stop by that little cafe anytime I am down by the pyramids. Much love to you! ❤️❤️❤️
Well made video, I it’s think you can ask for some advice before you go. The skin is not to be eaten. You eat the dish with rice, and you add the tahini as a dip. I think any Egyptian would be happy to give you advice about best places and to try as well as how to eat. Tahini is the national dip here, we add it to many dishes and food. I personally love grilled fish in Egypt, it’s special, and you don’t find this way of cooking any where else. Also tahini sauce is delicious and I miss it too. These are things I love from the cuisine, and I am not just being biased.
Thank you man! I actually have been living in Egypt for 2.5 years now, so I am fairly familiar with some of the cuisine (such as tahina, for example). I just don't eat a lot of fish, as mentioned in the video 😅 And I didn't want to eat any rice because of my diet 😅 But I do get many great suggestions from subscribers, and my Egyptian friends and my Egyptian boyfriend. If you ever have any suggestions, let me know! Thanks so much 🥰🙏
Gigi always makes amazing videos. Her limited Arabic is a wealth of information for the rest of us who know nothing about Arabic. She is so informative, even going to lengths in showing us how to use Google translate to read foreign menus. If it wasn’t for Gigi, I’d be so lost in this foodie world. I love you Gigi! 🌈
What is your motorcycle brand? I like the way the seller is so enthusiastic in explaining things to you about the menus. Take good care of yourself. Thank you, ma'am
Lol beauty care?! I think that was just from being out in the sun in Budapest 😅 I don't use any beauty care products, I just wash my face and put some lotion on after, and don't wear any make-up aside from my eyeliner. But being out in the sun in cooler temps in Budapest was great! 😄
Gisselle another video well done We wait for your Sundays’ video Question Gisselle, how are you coping with the excruciating heat in Egypt 🇪🇬 now. It is like Arizona desert 120F
Another question I guess I have asked it to you before How much does it cost to live in Egypt for a single person or couple to live in Egypt 🇪🇬 excluding RENT sine you have been living in Egypt for the past three years? Ball park number or range in $US or LE pound? I appreciate it
Thanks Hussein! It is hot. But I avoid going out during the middle of the day if I can. Mornings and nights are more bearable, when the sun is less powerful
Honestly man, when it comes to cost of living, that's too big a question with too many variables. If you are buying food and cooking at home and have your own motorcycle like me, it can cost very little. It depends on how cheap you want it to be. Excluding rent, for one person you can spend $5 a day if you aren't going out much and cooking at home or buying street food. But then what are you doing, just sitting inside an apartment all day in Egypt? I guess you could. As far as food goes, I also don't eat 3 meals a day, I never have, I'm just not hungry enough for that. But with $5 USD you can buy a koshary, a coffee/tea at a local cafe, and maybe a juice or 2. If you have a motorcycle, then transportation is free. You can spend a hell of a lot more in a day if you are out all day, going to nicer restaurants, traveling, buying stuff, doing stuff.
@@Gventures thanks Gisselle You’re a barometer to the Egyptian life style more than the Egyptians You have hands on experience in almost everything I appreciate your feedback
Great video...they r never boring. Fish looked good. Would love to see more of downtown, especially early morning, local handcraft shops in Cairo be good, ibn tulin n gayer Anderson musuem, Rhoda n nilometer...aw Cario-everything😂...even local bakeries(never seen or eaten such huge yummy crossiants)... not good for ur diet sorry...ps dieting is very bad for you...healthier choices instead. Have u done a video of Saqqara? If u have I must have missed it. Cheers
Thanks Judith! I do plan to film so early morning rides of downtown sometime soon. I will consider some of these other suggestions as well, thanks 🥰 Actually by dieting I just meant eating healthier, that's why I said in the video "less sugar, less bread." I have done a video of Saqqara, but it was a long time ago when I was new to vlogging. I would like to return sometime and do a better video of that. Here's the old one of Saqqara: ruclips.net/video/MHSb-exn-m4/видео.html
Wish I could of seen this video we were craving fish and ended at some place in new Cairo starts with the B and it’s like in small strip mall place never again lol this place looks way better
Ah yeah, two words that would have been a red flag for me "strip mall." 😅 I'm usually in or near the heart of Cairo though, so there's plenty of great options everywhere. New Cairo is kind of far out there
My favourite fish dish in Egypt is Singari - not sure which fish they used but it's butterflied and has a mix of peppers and onions over the meat and grilled - I think of it often and I dont even eat fish that easily.
Oh someone just commented this, I guess singari just means butterflied What you have eaten is Mullet fish , we call it " Samak Bori " or "بوري" in arabic . I've noticed lately a lot of cats seem to be drawn to you. Maybe the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet is trying to reach out to you. Either way, thank you for feeding those sweet kitties. God bless Egypt. That food looked delicious btw.
Haha, Bastet, that would be cool. I love cats, so maybe they can sense my friendly intentions (and the fact I will probably give them any food I have 😅). I love them all so much, I wish I could give them all better lives
I think the kitty cat understands Arabic more than English 😆 we love to eat Sea Bass and also the other fish beside it, Seabream. Both fish has less bones and more meat. I haven’t tried it grilled but we usually make a soup dish out of it called Tinola. Just water, onions, tomatoes, spring onion then the fish. It’s a very comforting Filipino dish.
@@anUntouchable Hmm. I dunno, things were changing so much around that time. Once they floated the pound it stabilized a lot, but I can't even remember or couldn't keep track of the cost of things when things were going crazy here with the EGP, the cost of things was one thing one day and another the next

Yes Yes Yes Welcome back , I prefer Asmak Elneel on Elfalaky St.
There’s mango festival at Asmalia city this coming Friday,
Very interesting so if you have time try to go there,
We will be there
Oh it's happening again already?! Wow that came up fast! I have to work that day, but if I had known I would have taken work off! I guess I will have to go next year...😕
Bonapetit delicious food
Good job ❤
Thanks for link look forward to watching. Yes u did say less sugar, hard in Egypt, they love their sweet stuff.
I am currently in Cairo as a female solo traveler and I would love to meet you❤
I've been watching all your videos, they were so helpful expecially now that I'm here!
Your way to show Egypt and its beauty is really unique so please keep on going because you are doing a great job!
Wish you all the best and send you lots of love ❤
Thank you so much Elizz! If I have time I would love to meet you too, but I am not sure I will while you are here, I stay very busy with work 😅 How long will you be in Cairo for?
I'm leaving next week my dear, there is actually not much time..
If we are able to, I would be super happy to meet you, really :)
If not, this for sure will be another good resson to come back to this amazing city.
I am seriously considering the possobility of moving here, my job would allow me to so.....we'll see :)
@@Elizz7311 I might have time tomorrow, but I am also going out to film, so not 100% sure about it. Anyway, you should send me a message on IG: mygventures, that way we can communicate more easily. Happy to hear you're loving Egypt! ❤🇪🇬
TGIF Gisselle! Have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe and keep cool, Filbert.
@@fv1291 Haha, that's right, thanks Filbert, you have a fantastic weekend as well! 😎
@@Gventures Yes, winter is the best time for that soup :) Your great content is always an excellent source for anyone who wants to visit and enjoy the real Egypt, which most people don't know much about! Looking forward to watching your upcoming amazing videos! Be safe and have a great day!
Marsa Allam is a good place to visit
Yes I want to go there too sometime. It is just very far away 😅
wow i drove by that restaurant yesterday! gotta try it. The fish here is great generally.
Yeah you should! Really good stuff, I am definitely going to go back, but I think next time I will order a bigger fish. With a little lime on top, amazing 🤤
@@Gventures Nice I will! I recommend the Arus or Ishr Bayad. Those are my favs.
@@BluePharoah Well lucky me, because I'm pretty sure the fish I chose was Arus. I want to try it singari next time
@@Gventures Yes good call!
Hello this is Omar from cairo Egypt I lives in downtown and I wish one day meet you
You are adorable!!!! ❤
"I found a new channel on RUclips a few weeks ago that I really love. In fact, it's the only thing I've watched in my free time lately. An American girl.. she is actually living there now, in Cairo. I wish I had a fraction of her courage 😌😆
She has videos at some of the places you've been (the pyramids of course, Salah El Din Citadel, the rock church, etc). All my mind could see was the photos of YOU standing in the places she was visiting .. and it just made me miss you soo much more."
I quoted part of a friend of mine message, she is American and at mango coffee Mahmoud and Kareem also talked with me about you,That's what makes me subscribed to your channel, I'm happy for you, wishing you always be safe, happy and smiling with the 💓
Wow, that's so cool! And welcome to the channel! Lol I love that Mahmoud and Kareem and Mango Cafe mentioned me too, I stop by that little cafe anytime I am down by the pyramids. Much love to you! ❤️❤️❤️
tilapia is the most delicious fish in egypt
I agree
Thank you so much for your kind words WishList 🥰🙏
What is your motorcycle brand? I like the way the seller is so enthusiastic in explaining things to you about the menus. Take good care of yourself.
Thank you, ma'am
I have a Benelli VLR Sport 200cc 😍🏍️
Yes the guy was very helpful, so kind of him to go the extra mile. Thank you 🙏
Europe suits you!
where did you get your new beauty care?
you are glowing!
Lol beauty care?! I think that was just from being out in the sun in Budapest 😅 I don't use any beauty care products, I just wash my face and put some lotion on after, and don't wear any make-up aside from my eyeliner. But being out in the sun in cooler temps in Budapest was great! 😄
@@Gventureslucky you, we miss the sun in Berlin.
@@firashijazy7544 Ahaha, damn. Well, I'm back in Cairo and back in the 40 degree heat, if that's any consolation 😅
I saw so many trees from 3:25 to 4:27, is there a way we could report this to the ministry of interior?
🥱
Gisselle another video well done
We wait for your Sundays’ video
Question Gisselle, how are you coping with the excruciating heat in Egypt 🇪🇬 now.
It is like Arizona desert
120F
Another question
I guess I have asked it to you before
How much does it cost to live in Egypt for a single person or couple to live in Egypt 🇪🇬 excluding RENT
sine you have been living in Egypt for the past three years?
@@Gventures thanks Gisselle
You’re a barometer to the Egyptian life style more than the Egyptians
You have hands on experience in almost everything
I appreciate your feedback
Keep up the great work you are doing
Here's the old one of Saqqara:

I recommend shrimp in طاطا shops anywhere in cairo cooked in butterfly method
Butterfly method, that is singari right?
@@Gventures singari methods is for cooking fish ...but butterfly is for shrimps
@@amalfathy3811 Oh okay, thank you 🙏
Why u live in Egypt, can u tell us?
Yes, I live here because I love it! The food, the people, the music, it's all wonderful.
Sounds good!
Oh someone just commented this, I guess singari just means butterflied
What you have eaten is Mullet fish , we call it " Samak Bori " or "بوري" in arabic .
Bori is either eated grilled or " singari " style .
I totally recommend going for the " Singari " Style , it's 100% better if you are eating without rice or anything else .
Singari is a special way of cooking the mullet fish by opening it in half and adding some garlic / lemon / onion / seasoning .. etc
@@Gventures Yes, you right it was Mullet! Thank you for explaining it better :)
@@wildcat_sa thank the Egyptian who explained it to me 😅 Thanks for watching wildcat 🥰
Nice
I've noticed lately a lot of cats seem to be drawn to you. Maybe the Egyptian cat goddess Bastet is trying to reach out to you. Either way, thank you for feeding those sweet kitties. God bless Egypt. That food looked delicious btw.
Haha, Bastet, that would be cool. I love cats, so maybe they can sense my friendly intentions (and the fact I will probably give them any food I have 😅). I love them all so much, I wish I could give them all better lives
@@Gventures ❤️
I think the kitty cat understands Arabic more than English 😆 we love to eat Sea Bass and also the other fish beside it, Seabream. Both fish has less bones and more meat. I haven’t tried it grilled but we usually make a soup dish out of it called Tinola. Just water, onions, tomatoes, spring onion then the fish. It’s a very comforting Filipino dish.
Sounds good 😁
Good your speaking arabic
95 now for Marlboro? last time I wast in Egypt the white filter Marlboro was 45 LE if I remember
When was the last time you were here?
@@Gventures around a year and a half
@@anUntouchable Hmm. I dunno, things were changing so much around that time. Once they floated the pound it stabilized a lot, but I can't even remember or couldn't keep track of the cost of things when things were going crazy here with the EGP, the cost of things was one thing one day and another the next
❤❤❤
Hi Giselle
May I ask where you from ?
Yep! I'm from the U.S.
Can you please write down the adresse for that restaurant?
I leave the link to the location of every restaurant I visit in the description of the video, just check there 😊👍
