Threatened in Egypt's Christian Hood! 🇪🇬

- I visited Mansheya Nasir, also known as garbage city, one of the only Christian neighbourhoods in all of Egypt. Most people were very welcoming, some not so much...
I tried to be an investigative journalist and discover what garbage city (Mansheya Nasir) is all about. Garbage city is a neighbourhood in Cairo, Egypt responsible for the waste management of the whole city! I didn't get to learn to much about the process, but don't stress! Next video I post I get shown around by a local who tells me all about garbage city. The reason why I didn't get a chance to learn much about this interesting place is because very few people here speak English. ALSO some dude got very mad at me and threatened me with a sharp piece of metal. So at that point i was pretty bummed and really didn't care much about the garbage any more. There was a cool church in a cave that I went to see but besides that, all I mostly saw was garbage... lots and lots of garbage. What a crazy place!

Christian egyptians are mostly orthodox not catholic
coptic
True and muslim Egyptians are coptic as well, but the coptic Christian Church is still keeping the original coptic language alive. As a muslim egyptian myself, I am honoured and really thankful that they kept our heritage alive ❤

@@El7OSSthat's not true. The Muslims are of Arab descent, not coptic. Copts are the Egyptians that lived in Egypt from the ancient Egyptians to the Islamic invasion. Despite that nobody understands his language, he continues to speak it and complains about the fact nobody understands him.
Hey, put in some effort to communicate, saying "Shukran Shukran" like that isn't really cool.
There are actually in other middle eastern/north african countries where people react good - but not the first time i hear egyptians are not responding same way - they are more gloomy and less welcoming than middle easterners - so i heard and saw in many travel vlog videos.

Great video, thank you for sharing your experience. No, they are not kicking you out, they are saying it's an end street and were assuming you are looking for the monastry. They are not Catholic, Coptic orthodox.
Just orthodox, Coptic doesn't relate to religion.
@@GabrieLightno they are literally coptic orthodox as they differentiate from other orthodox churches like the Greek and Russian. So he is correct in saying coptic orthodox.
Im gonna be honest here, the video in itself is very rude. Going to a country without any translator to help with communication and then assuming what they're saying or how they're reacting, while posting a video to thousands of people just to increase stigma about it is inconsiderate and plainly ignorant. And on top of that seeing you visit such a beautiful church and not caring about the history of it or learning about how it came to be, cussing up a storm, and leaving after a few minutes just shows the lack of respect to the country and its people. As an Egyptian myself, its sad to see this and how you painted Egyptians. There are so many beautiful parts of the motherland that you chose not to show.
womp womp
@sealontour it's obvious you're click baiting everyone and trying to reach for views, there are other youtubers who actually try to give an honest portrayal of Egypt and they have hundreds of thousands of views. Maybe rethink your approach my friend
@@MaryMansour-wg1hm tourist places are not a real side of Egypt, this is. If you think my approach was bad this day I went back and did a proper educational video with a local.
@sealontour tourist places are still the real Egypt coming from an Egyptian herself. Just because the pyramids and museums attract tourists doesn't mean it's not a part of Egypt, it's the foundation of learning about the country. We don't say the capital in D.C. or the Statue of Liberty is not part of real America, because it's the foundation of America. There were places you missed out on that would have shown such a beautiful side to Egypt but you showed garbage city which has nothing
@@MaryMansour-wg1hmHey, as an Egyptian, let me tell you: He's not a history buff. He's mentioned that a few times in his videos. Instead, he's more interested in experiencing the everyday life of ordinary people and real, grassroots culture. Or even poor people in cities and in dodgey neighbourhoods. Which he finds more exciting than visiting upscale, Westernized areas that might feel similar to where he's from.
The Coptic didn't threaten you. All he said is that you're respectful. Don't assume the worse out of people.
See maybe if you read the brief introduction going into the church, you would not have said that ‘they are Catholic’ and just sounded completely ignorant.
"weird seeing Jesus written in Arabic". Jesus lived in Egypt FYI and the Copts fought the Romans to keep Christianity alive.

Its sad to see that the Christians in Egypt are forced to live near the garbage
I was asking and it has nothing to do with them being Christian and living with garbage.
The story is; back in the beginning of the 20's century cairo were full of garbage and some migrants christians from upper egypt work on collecting and recycling it hand to hand with Muslims and they were able to make more profit from it cuz they were able to raise pigs that eats organic waste wile Muslims can't cuz it's haram. so, day after day those people invites their families, friends and a lot of people from upper egypt to come and work in that profitable industry located in that isolated area far from cairo.
