If you guys are new to Cunninlynguists, I recommend checking out their A Piece Of Strange album, it's one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made and it's pretty accessible too
Was looking forward to hearing DEHH's thoughts on this project. I picked this tape up off their bandcamp as soon as I heard it had leaked. Agree with Myke C-Town on this being the best album so far this year. Sadistik on "Castles" was so dope - talking killing off damsels with the walls he builds around himself like a castle. It's such a clever metaphor. "Strange Universe" was a great way to start off the album. It just sets the tone so well. And as C-Town said, Del was crazy on there. I think "Kings" is easily one of the best tracks on the album. Deacon has some of my favorite lines on there: "Any regrets I'll let you brood in a noose/.../Death to anyone who cuts you loose." So fucking good. Didn't like SJV3 as much as Oneirology, but that's because Oneirology was pretty much just a masterpiece. Regardless, SJV3 is incredibly dope.
Thanks guys for reviewing this album! About the features this is the strange journey series so it's more like a mixtape with more features. Their next album will probably be a "real" album like oneirology or a piece of strange. That fact kind of blows my mind that this isn't supposed to be their polished work but still blows away most other artists work
Wheel Smith your missing out. Oneirology is my favorite album ever. I love their first 4 projects as well. Maybe give it another listen one of these days
So glad you guys actually did this review. I lost hope of you doing it before because of the time that passed and the fact that you were all silent when it was being recommended repeatedly, but I'm happy I was wrong. It's nice that most of you enjoyed it thoroughly. I agree with Myke that this is one of the best albums of this year so far (and I have heard a lot and I mean a lot of projects this year). It had a nice theme to it, the beats were pretty much stellar, and the verses were killer. Fav Tracks: Urutora Kaiju, Hot, Strange Universe, Kings, & Castles
you all should do reviews on single songs or singles like man i wanna know how do yall feel about that Big K.R.I.T. - Mt. Olympus track man he killed it
Myke C-Town No I haven't, all week I've been stuck on Labor Days (due partially to an old post of yours) and So It Goes (which I still can't believe you don't love, it sounds exactly what you'd enjoy) this past week. I can't go through music nearly as quickly as you guys, especially Aesop Rock, I gotta let that stuff digest. I'm sure I'm gonna listen to SJ3 eventually, then tell everyone how slept on it is 6 months after the fact, same as what happened with Oneirology.
wow some of these comments are dumb! You guys know that everyone in DEHH works so fucking hard and all I see is "WHY HAVEN'T YOU REVIEWED THIS PROJECT YET?!?!" and everyone comes here hoping to hear the guys at DEHH have the same opinion as them. Just chill out and enjoy the videos. Just because they have a different opinion, doesn't mean their opinion is wrong.
I feel like it would help Myke if he typed out his favorite lines from albums on a notepad in his phone or something. Sometimes its hard to remember those crazy lines.
I see the Strange Journey series as a series of mixtape really. It would unfair to compare them with their proper studio albums. This series is more about creating an opportunities for them to work with some of their peers and rap over beats that would probably not make the album cut.
I have been to alot of really good shows, immortal technique, atmosphere, brother Ali, grieves, del, Grouch and zion I, common, lupe fiasco, etc. And I have to say it was easily the best concert I have been too.
Great review guys. Myke C-Town you got me excited for this so I just bought it online at Best Buy.com. I will be getting it in the mail. I previewed the song "In the city" on Bestbuy.com and I loved it
Nobody mentioned "A Piece of Strange"!! APOS is easily their best album and arguably the best hip hop album of the 2000's! Dudes need to get a late pass..
Why didn't they review Oneirology when it came out?! Even though it would be way out of date, they should still put a review up on it that would be dope
An audible treat?! That makes no sense Feefo. As usual. Does he pay to be on the team? I move past the start of DEHH reviews these days. Start with Ken.
Naw Myke, you are hella trippin, this isnt bad, but this is one of my least favourite cunninlynguists projects ever, and cunninlynguists is my FAVOURITE hip hop group ever. The production is crazy redundant man, yeah it's layered and lush but fuck, does it get boring by the end. drunk dial is a train wreck of a track, lovely to know that grieves sits alone, gets hammered, takes pictures of his dick and tries to send it to girls he likes, yes i know it's a joke track, but i don't get the fuckin joke. And speaking of humour, the skits on this are whack, I knew exactly how the skits on this were going to go just based off the first one, so obvious. Also, castles is a great track verse wise, probably the worst production on the album though, especially on the hook. Although I do generally agree that the album is pretty consistently good, but I was let down on this.
also why is will rap for food, so under-stated, i mean i know it's not a lyrical triumph but it's in the top 5 funniest albums i've ever listened to, plus it's back when kno would vary his production more between airy melodic stuff and TRUNK KNOCKING BANGERS!
A few cool tracks but overall it was average at best. I guess it's as good as SJV2 or Death Is Silent but compared to Southernunderground, A Piece of Strange, Dirty Acres, SJV1 or Oneirology this album is a joke.
I wouldn't say it's a joke exactly, but I agree that Oneirology far surpasses it. The whole theme for Oneirology is executed better, and it has more lush, atmospheric, beats on it. SJV3 is pretty much on-par with Death is Silent, but I'd say it's better than STV2.
I personally wasn't a huge fan of this album. I really enjoyed it, and it had some really great stuff, but it's not really something I would find myself listening to front to back very often. It's great, but for CunninLynguists, the group that made projects like APOS and Oneirology, it's kinda mediocre.
Kno is quite possibly the most underrated producer in hip hop
myke c-town has by far the best taste and opinion in music as far as DEHH is concerned. Dude really is about that GOOD hip hop.
If you guys are new to Cunninlynguists, I recommend checking out their A Piece Of Strange album, it's one of the greatest hip hop albums ever made and it's pretty accessible too

It's a shame that a lot of good comments like this tend to be ignored here on RUclips.
A piece of strange... top 5 of all time imo
Thanks guys for reviewing this album! About the features this is the strange journey series so it's more like a mixtape with more features. Their next album will probably be a "real" album like oneirology or a piece of strange. That fact kind of blows my mind that this isn't supposed to be their polished work but still blows away most other artists work
Y'all should do outkast aquemini for the next classic album review
Great review. I already knew Myke was gonna love this album its badass!

If you want to check out CunninLynguists for the first time check out Oneirology
no man - first 4 album are the best ...... and then they fell the fuck out..... but i dont care first 4 albums are great.
Wheel Smith your missing out. Oneirology is my favorite album ever. I love their first 4 projects as well. Maybe give it another listen one of these days
Wheel Smith not sure why you believe they fell the fuck off with oneirology, but okay whatever its your opinion.
Definitely check out Oneirology, but if you want to get to know them a little better, start with Will Rap For Food
So glad you guys actually did this review. If you haven't heard this do so ASAP. This and Pinata top two so far this year. Only String theory's self titled LP even comes close.
blu been killing the game this year with features... step brothers, grouch and eligh, jamla the squad, cunninlynguists, l'orange etc.
Can we get that Pharoahe Monch - PTSD review?
100% agree with myke, this album needs more fucking attention, the beats & the songs it's fucking amazing to me.
this is my favourite album of all time
love myke's passion in this review, i gotta stop being lazy and check this album out, onierology was great.
You listen yet? It's been FOUR WHOLE DAYS!!! Haha...
Myke C-Town
No I haven't, all week I've been stuck on Labor Days (due partially to an old post of yours) and So It Goes (which I still can't believe you don't love, it sounds exactly what you'd enjoy) this past week. Correct you are people want these guys to have their opinion and they don't get that their opinions are solely theirs
12:12 I always love how hyped Myke gets. lol
One of my favorite rap groups of all time
Awesome album, period!
This review made me check out the project. This project is great, and I agree about CL being underrated as fuck.

Sincerely Yours - Iamsu
Are you guys gonna review PTSD?
Yup. It's coming.
Please Review Mac miller - Faces, I Know its long but i think its worth it Mac Miller has come so far as an artist.
@ 10:35 I agree w/ Myke C-Town. That sample is too ill.
Kno really is a genius.
Even over Madlib & Freddie Gibbs' album, C-Town?
I see the Strange Journey series as a series of mixtape really. It would unfair to compare them with their proper studio albums. This series is more about creating an opportunities for them to work with some of their peers and rap over beats that would probably not make the album cut.
Man, Myke went hard.
Why the hell haven't y'all done PTSD?
We are. We just work that's all.
Kennith Inge And don't forget to talk about Mt. Olympus. I still haven't recovered.
***** We're not reviewing Mt. Olympus. You can send it in as an ask question and Sophie may select it that week. You never know. Thanks for watching.
Aesop had the best verse i heard this year on castles.
Isaiah Rashad is still number one with me so far this year....
Best group of all time. SJV3 album of the year, their shows for the tour are ill as fuck too.
***** Yeah, it's a shame
Yup. I'm pretty sure they'll get some more in a few months. I can't wait to cop a WRFF, and Southernunderground Vinyl when they make more
Yeah i saw them live with sadistik and jlive on 420! It was FUCKING CRAZY. Great performance
I have been to alot of really good shows, immortal technique, atmosphere, brother Ali, grieves, del, Grouch and zion I, common, lupe fiasco, etc. And I have to say it was easily the best concert I have been too.
Best group of all time? I wouldn't go THAT far....

Southsiders - Atmosphere
Nobody mentioned "A Piece of Strange"!! APOS is easily their best album and arguably the best hip hop album of the 2000's!
Dudes need to get a late pass..
Why didn't they review Oneirology when it came out?! Even though it would be way out of date, they should still put a review up on it that would be dope

An audible treat?! That makes no sense Feefo. As usual. Does he pay to be on the team? I move past the start of DEHH reviews these days. Start with Ken.

Ya'll better start at will rap for food

Too many bad hooks on this...
