- Mercedes-Benz drivers expect “The best or nothing”. When it comes to safety, compromises are out of place. This test shows the comparison of Mercedes-Benz genuine brake pads with counterfeit brake parts. The results show that the latter cause a delayed braking effect and therefore a much longer stopping distance. Subscribe to Mercedes-Benz on RUclips: ruclips.net/user/subscription_c...
Mercedes-Benz subjects all parts to extensive testing before they can call themselves Mercedes-Benz Genuine Parts. And we attach particular importance to functionality and durability. Mercedes-Benz Service and Genuine Parts. Simply reliable.

The counterfeits shown in the film are not high quality replacement parts from Mercedes-Benz or other legitimate suppliers, rather they are illegal counterfeits from product pirates. In almost all cases such counterfeits are of defective quality and do not meet minimum legal standards. Thus the counterfeit parts can become a danger for vehicle occupants or uninvolved third parties. The comparison of the braking distances took place under the same conditions at the same initial speed and the same braking point. The longer braking distance for the car with the counterfeit brake disks is the result of the defective quality that frequently occurs with counterfeit products.
3ridetec they're saying the fakes in the video are fake products rather than oem products where mercedes gives them permission to replicate them, so oem parts are still safe
So is the mercedes benz brake disk also drilled? I get what your putting down but when you give a extreme braking test with aftermarket drilled rotors, brake wear is extremely high. What you should do is all 4 kinds of aftermarket vs oem. There are,
Regular rotors,
Drilled,
Slotted,
Drilled and slotted.
Replica rims.. they bend like soft metal compared to real factory OEM rims of BMW!!
Mercedes-Benz Ford Green Mitsubishi
Mercedes-Benz I would also like to say that if you used apex brakes you would find the braking even better
Stop charging customers 1000$ for brakes replacement and maybe they will start letting you fit "original" parts..
where can I find costumers? In the Halloween costume shop?
true
Absolutely rediculous hyper inflated prices on OEM replacement parts....😤
Mafia!
ashystyle but why buy the car if you can’t maintain it?
What if the dealer buys counterfeit products to increase their profits? 😂😂😂
honestly possible lol
Not possible. Their supply chains are some of the most advanced in the world.
MrGrey I take it you work for a MB dealer and have been fed company Propaganda?
I’m sure they do. Dealerships do a lot of sneaky shit
All dealers buy aftermarket shit. The things you can't see like fluids, brake pads etc.

@@tfGypsyKing no one said Mercedes parts are bad, they’re just way overpriced, anyone with a brain knows they can get better options for less
Nah, oem always stands above others, its been proven before i forgot by whom
“They are only interested in their profits” YOU CHARGE 1000 FOR BREAKS
It doesn't matter the overall cost. It's percentages.
Say the Merc brakes are £1000 and the fakes are £500. The Merc ones (random number) cost £300 to make and they sell with a profit of £700 while the fakes cost £50 to make and make a £450 profit.
...or brakes. If you can't even spell the word right, what difference is it to you?
That test looks like it is fake
The UK Sexy yeah guy with fake breaks went fastee
it is..
It's fake af and to be honest.. who believes germany after the VW incident ? Bunch of liers
The UK Sexy it's not fake .. I tired non genuine pads for my bmw and it wasn't cheap .. simply felt I had no breaks comparing to the genuine ones
Genuine he starts to brake just before the line, non genuibe hes about 1 set of cones past before he applies them, you can tell in the videos from when the nose of the car dips! FAAAAAAAAAAKE
I have a feeling this is biased lol
Mr.Popeyes 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Mr.Popeyes "hey look my feet is not strong enough to press on brake pedal hard" hahahaha
if you go frame by frame at 1:44, you can see the brown car applied the breaks at the 2nd cone where as the white car is already breaking when entering the scope of the camera. smh
It is true (ask how I know)

Hm, weird that the ABS still had to kick in on those counterfeit parts. This means it wasn't lacking braking power. Maybe you just went too fast or had something loaded up in the vehicle?
Mercedes: "We never said we weren't transporting 500 kilos of lead in the trunk brown... We might also have "Forgotten" to mention the fact that the surface of the track had been coated with generous amounts of silicone oil for ONE of these cars!"
As a Mercedes E-Class owner I gotta say their EBS (emergency braking system) literally saved my life in one instance...I never thought a big, heavy 4 door saloon car can stop so quickly from 140 km/h. I couldn't believe I didn't crash...I was shaking for 2 hrs after that just thinking about it.
Only downside to their amazing brakes is the ammount of brake dust the ceramic compound produces....if you want to keep your wheels clean you have to wash them every 2 days.
You clean the wheels spotless, then you brake hard a few times and they're covered in dust again LOL
We're so happy to hear that your four-wheel companion saved your life! 🤗 But remember, drive safely! 😉
If you want to compare with aftermarket, you guys gotta test with the same price range product. Not $200 genuine product and $50 Chinese product. Lol. Personally, i will go with same priced aftermarket product, such as brembo, instead of dealer product.
that's why this is about 'counterfeit' parts, not aftermarket.
Ted Yoon I recommend ATE pads and discs, as that is the brand that the VW dealership supply my car with. They are the best in my opinion and cost a fraction of what VW charge for them when you buy them directly. The ones VW sell are identical but just come in a different box, with a VW stamp on it. The part number and the ATE logo are still on it.
It's not about aftermarket expensive parts, it's about COUNTERFEIT PARTS, meaning companies selling them as original Mercedes or identical to OEM parts, but at a much lower price, claiming identical quality.
Ted Yoon
That’s the whole point of this video. That’s why it says “fake parts” instead of “cheap products”.
not the point but brembos are awesome
Remember to use genuine M.B. parts. You never know when you'll have to slow your car from 300 mph while towing a trailer.
I once got a new rear view mirror for my former A class - it was not a original part. However, the merc logo on the plastic was simply melted away at the 3rd party part (it was melted away at the point where the old mirror glass had the logo), it was made by the same supplier as the original mirror glass.
Merc isn't producing any brakes by their own - they buy from suppliers, like Lucas, ATE or Brembo. As long as you don't buy faked ebay brake pads the pads made by this suppliers and sold by aftermarket stores are as good as the original ones, since they are from the manufacturers which make the original ones
@@simonm1447 I didn't know they made A Classes for men. Lol jk
@@tylerpupo2886 it pulled trailers up to 2 tons (at just around one ton empty weight), and it had a huge internal space. It was better than a station wagon, which has a long but relatively flat trunk
I am also against counterfeit parts but if you are going to do a real world comparison in two identical cars then you need to show a graph with pedal effort applied over time in each car as well as the brake fluid pressure reading.
this video is Mercedes indirect ways to convince you to give them more of your money but clearly.. there are better aftermarket brakes such as Brembo which is cheaper, safer, and more reliable
Sir cheaper? Brembos?
touche hab grad nachgeschaut, ~40 statt ~100 ist schon ein unterschied
*suplier, but i don't think so
Johnny Elishov nope. Switched over to Brembo ceramic pads and dust reduced significantly over stock. Of they were the same supplier that makes no sense.
I think Mercedes uses TRW as their supplier of brake pads.
ceramic pads and discs are two different things right?
If you look at the rear of the vehicle, you could see that the brake lights in the brown car only come on when the car is very close to the cones. What a fair test
The comparison of the braking distances took place under the same conditions at the same initial speed and the same braking point. The longer braking distance for the car with the counterfeit brake disks is the result of the defective quality that frequently occurs with counterfeit products.
If we look closer at 1:55, frame by frame you will see the suspession return to original position after the brake was released and then the suspenssion was compresed again (because the driver press the brake again ), the braking power applied on the pedal wasn't the same in both cars. The test to be fair, we need robots for braking pedal and we need to see the braking force applied on the brake pedal as the car in braking. MB as a manufacturer of cars and not only MB, will always say, buy parts from us, the aftermarket parts is a crap, ok, but we need to see if that aftermarket is crap.Compare 100$ with 100$ parts. We know if we buy 20$ parts insted of 100$ will be crap, no need for a video. We need to know if 100$ geniune parts is better than 100$ aftermarket parts. Please, MB do this :) !
Mohamed, the brake light is LED, because of that, the brake light flicker ( it's about the frequency of the current ) and the video frequency (50 Hz or 60Hz), the brake light was on all the time. And for the brake light to be on, you only need to touch the brake pedal, and in this test you need to put lot of force on brake pedal to stop the car.
im disappointed in mercedes. what an ugly video
Mercedes-Benz wenn man ständig und immer wieder die gleichen Lügen erzählt (übrigens wie unsere Medien und Politiker auch), wird es nicht automatisch zur Wahrheit Mercedes 😉
He didn't even hit the brakes at the same time. Dismissed
that was fake af
jimmy boggess
Yeah.. this is to scare people and advertise the brand.
I was thinking the same
Great! Mercedes, known for producing brake pads and disk since *never* in its history. They always bought them from companies like Zimmermann, Pagid, ATE,... and labeled them.
The two CLAs were going different speeds and began braking at different times. Where's the telemetry?
now we want a comparison video between genuine test vs fake test
1:45 - why the brown car is so much faster..? LoL
Also on the box braking test you can see where they started to brake and it was way past the "starting point"
I think that we cant argue that genuine parts are better than "counterfit" ones but this test was just so perfunctory...
erirocit exactly
erirocit
They clip starts playing once they hit the brakes. That’s why the brown one is faster, as the fake brakes do not have the same functionality of the genuine one.
I have thought of that, but there is no proof of the weight of the two cars, the tires etc... I saw the car with counterfit brakes locking its wheels much more often and for much longer periods, but these are only my observations, I am not making any claims...as I said, I have no doubt that the original brakes are better, but this add or what have you doesnt convince me at all...
This seems completely trustworthy.
I was being sarcastic professor.
Don't call me that..
:)))))
smallfaucet lmao
BMW M professor
So my Brembos aren't better then the regular brakes on the c43 ? Lmaooooo
Well if mercedes genuine parts weren't 5 times the price of other companies maybe there wouldn't be a need for counterfeit parts
its not a need, and also the partners are well known aftermarket brands such as brembo, their brakes are godlike and way cheaper
You can buy pads and disc rotors made by the suppliers which make the original Merc parts - companies like Lukas, TRW, Brembo or ATE. Merc isn't making a single brake pad on their own, they just buy them from this suppliers. This suppliers however also offer brake parts without the Merc logo on it, which cost less since you pay a lot just for the Merc logo
Since Mercedes does not build brake pads .. Why we are still talking about it..
El Chapo he's right you know.
Most car manufacturers don't build their own break components
Not just brake components, pretty much any other component is MADE by someone else.
Mercedes-Benz could you share a link of the counterfit brakepad that was not able to lock wheels even though all new Mercedes cars have a strong brake booster? I could only imagine this happening if you cover the brakepads with an advanced lubricant. Or if you worn them down completely before testing. Or if you overheated the brakes prior to testing. Or if there was air in the brake system. Or if the brake lines where leaking badly.
Anyway, for evryones safety it would be best if you revieled what companys would make such bad brake pads. Although I have trouble believing that this isn't a rigged test.
It's very true that cheap brake pads can overheat faster, causing brake fade, and wear down quicker. But your message seems to be "bending the truth" a lot
Mercedes-Benz you replied with irrelative answer. Also, the black car did not stop at the same spot as the white, and many people in the comment section mentioned that, and you avoided to explain.
This test is a biased misleading lie! Firstly, Mercedes do not even manufacture their own brake pads and discs, but rather outsource them and charge a horrendous premium. Mercedes usually use ATE parts which you can buy from them directly for a fraction of the price.
The brown car seemed faster too
No Mercedes develops parts with suppliers. The parts that go into the cars are quite unique (same in case of all major OEM's). Trust me, i am an engineer in the same domain. Dont propagate bullshit.
28leojay no, they contact a supplier and define their needs and the manufacturer of the components either provides an already existing off-the-shelf component or modify existing components to suit the needs. I can Guarantee that neither Mercedes ,nor any high production automobile manufacturer, designs from scratch every brake component with every model change.
Engineer yourself a 4” long bolt that has to come out in a 1” deep space. That’s all you guys are good for!
28leojay You are full of shit and proved you are not an engineer, or anything related in this domain. Mercedes and every single other large auto manufacturer outsource parts such as brakes and disks in order to save costs. Yes, they would work with Mercedes at some point in the R&D process, however those parts would go in many other vehicles and can be obtained at a fraction of the cost. These “Mercedes” brake pads are probably also in some VW/Audi’s etc...
28leojay - You're full of shit and stupid. Don't propagate your bullshit.
Love how they didn't even show the result of the brake test. Look, cones! :))
I drive a Mercedes for 4 years now, a C220 CDI from 2000, we've owned it since 2001. My dad actually never took it to the Mercedes dealership for maintenance. My dad always took it to his friend's mechanic shop and we never had a problem, the car always came back properly fixed.
The key, key reader and the door blocking mechanism gave up recently and we took it to Mercedes because they are the only ones who could fix the car, it was mad expensive to repair but still, brake pads, oil changes, transmission oil change, filters, normal maintenance parts and so on? We NEVER took it to Mercedes, and the car has almost half a million KMs on the engine without even opening it.
Good old Mercedes, can't beat them.
What a big ass lie.
AMG_86 lol. Complete bullshit.
mercedes is interested in maximizing their profit!
I like how the people that will never own one are trying to hate on Merc
Hate on less quality since I own better quality!
Fair enough. there are better aftermarket ones
Every company owned by people around the world are interested in maximising profit.
Mercedes is just a typical Masonic/Saturn company with its silly three pointed star logo. Always look for stars and X. BMW like to use the X. Their duty is to Rome and making more honey (money) for the Beehive System. They could build their cars properly to have better reliability, but they are bound by that duty of Freemasonry to make more money for the system.
There are counterfeit parts on the market but also aftermarket parts. I remember ordering for example a Hella sensor but instead I got a counterfeit no name sensor.
. You can choose a producer that makes good rotors. For high performance applications the floating discs and sports callipers (4 pot or more) are much better, but it depends on the quality as well.
You can get a good quality set of normal front discs (Φ335/32) for not more than 300€, and 150€ for the pads
Genuine wipers = SWF
Genuine brake = ATE - TRW
Genuine filter = Mann filter
Genuine oil = Petronas and other...
thats for all car brands unless its perhaps tesla. This is behemoth companies. They have partners and they are getting it licesnsed or produced in mercedes standarts. its approved. in comparison to fake geniune parts and counterfeit this is a good video.
but after-market or OE or OEM are all different brands as you said.
Hotel trivago
We can clearly see from the weight transfer of the vehicle tha in the genuine case braking applied 1-2 meters before the braking point. on the other hand in the counterfeit the braking takes place on the second yellow cone. Now if we see it from the top angle of camera the yellow cones are one car distance apart . in conlusion 1-2 meters before the braking point plus the second cone distance from start 5 meters at least we see that the difference in the braking start point is between 6-7 meters. These type of biased videos are bad for the reputation of the brand.
Also you forgot to mention, the "counterfeit" car had a WET TRACK lol.
The comparison of the braking distances took place under the same conditions at the same initial speed and the same braking point. The longer braking distance for the car with the counterfeit brake disks is the result of the defective quality that frequently occurs with counterfeit products.
lamogio1992 You put such a big hole in this video that Mercedes themself actually replied to you. You should be honored by that! 😂😂😂
@@WTCHME finally someone caught it. THAT'S the real problem with the test. Easily observed by pausing at 1:46

O.K. Let's put this into perspective. I'm a retired auto mechanic (Asian cars not German luxury) and fire truck builder now selling auto parts in handing out repair advice. I had to retire due to several injuries. There is a BIG difference between genuine, aftermarket, economy, and counterfeit. Genuine is what you buy at the dealership parts department. Counterfeit are parts that have been cleverly manufactured to LOOK like genuine replacement parts and packaged in boxes that LOOK EXACTLY like the ones you would get from the dealership parts department. These are usually available "on the street" but there have been some documented cases of counterfeit auto parts making their way to dealership parts departments. Aftermarket means the parts are made by manufacturers OTHER than the ones who supplied the factory. If those parts (in this case brake pads and rotors) are made by reputable manufacturers such as Raybestos, Albany, Beck Arnley, EBC, etc they are made to meet or EXCEED the original manufacturer's specifications. Economy is just that and you wouldn't want to put them on a Yugo much less a Mercedes! Owners of older German luxury cars have told me the dealership commanded prices as high as $200 for a set of brake pads! At my store a set of quality aftermarket brake pads for these cars will cost anywhere from $50 to $90 depending on the model. If the pads have built-in electronic wear sensors it's a bit more. But most of these owners of 10 , 15 , even 20 year old German cars luxury being of "limited economic means" always ask for the economy pads that cost between $10 and $25 a set! (assuming of course we even have them) When I try to steer them towards the better quality pads it's not because I get a commission (I don't) it's because I have their safety in mind! But they usually end up yelling "STOP TRYING TO UPSELL ME!".
Mercedes-Benz Speaking as a retired mechanic ,1000% AGREED! And this is been going on for a long time! Back in the late 1970s my brother was a cab driver (independent) and he bought what he thought was a case of genuine AC Delco oil filters "on the street." I told him he got scammed but being a young high school auto mechanics student at the time he didn't believe me. I went to an auto parts store and purchased a GENUINE AC Delco oil filter of the same part number. I then cut open the genuine and one of the street oil filters. The counterfeit oil filter had a filter medium in it that was little more than toilet paper while the genuine filter medium was thick and pleated.
Don't know about genuine parts, but for old cars i found that Ferodo works really well for braking safety. Just wheels might get a little dirty

I think the pad can be true that it will wear up faster than the original one. But that doesn't mean that it will give less grip. Bcs the component still same from metal/organic based materials, so it really comes back to the piston and mechanical system of the brake itself. Well, you can try the alternative to buy a different product rather than use the fake ones.. Or use the fake one, but you have to maintain or even change it more frequently. Well, I'm using the original genuine parts (mitsubishi) but do not bought it on dealers, bcs yes, it would be waaayy more expensive.. Minimum twice the price on outside market.

Mercedes-Benz Frankly that is shocking that someone would buy counterfeit items when high quality genuine items are readily available.
I use Brake Performance rotors and ceramic pads. It has been more than 50,000 KM and they are still going well. I used to change the rotors & pads at the stealership. Every 15,000 KM maintenance there has to be something to change either the pads, rotors or both. And that’s like $1000+. What’s more irritating is that labor costs more than parts at the stealership. And that’s “after a special discount,” mind you.
When I replace pads, I usually go for semi racing pads and discs. Nothing wrong with EBC and Wilwood components. But I have a different product requirement than getting the cheapest..
"Trust in your local dealer"
Yeah sure take all my money please
How about you make reliable cars and stop charging ridiculous amounts for things like BRAKE PADS?
In a simple test, such as a single deceleration from 100 km/h (62 mph), ANY brake pad or caliper or disc will do ~OK (the difference will DEFINITELY be MUCH lower than the one shown in this video). In a demanding test, however, such as two consecutive decelerations from 250 km/h (155 mph), there will be a substantial difference. BTW: I strongly suggest having a brake test strip in an area without any obstacles along...

"Counterfeit" brake parts from ATE/Brembo/Bosch etc vs "genuine MB parts". It's all the same, just different boxes. By the way, Mercedes parts aren't even that expensive. Tyler Beeson my s class had new pagid discs and pads when I bought it , never again ,very bad brake fade and then judder , put aftermarket pads on a polo ect ,but not big cars or performance , genuine brakes are taylored for your cars weight/performance not just a random mix that covers everything
DIY owners have variety of choices using after market parts which quality might even higher than the original such as nissin brembo to name a few.
TRW, ATE, brembo, bosch, delphi, Pagid, Jurid. All good OE parts.
That fake brake pad was paid actor
Solution: Don't buy a Mercedes in the first place.
bullshit.
1:32 you can see the white car brake HARD before the cones you can see this by the shifting of the weight of the car due to momentum. He already started braking WAY before the cone. While the black car at 1:52 didn't start braking until the 4th yellow cone. You can tell because of car weight shifting forward and you can hear he applies the brakes much later. It is safe to say they would have performed similarly.
What is the role of the tyre in determining braking distance apart from the pad
Is not the best car

How long can we use the breaks after the break pad wear sign comes
This depends on many variables. We recommend you contact your
dealer so that they can advise you further on your vehicle. 😉
Shehryar Hussain I love Mercedes Benz.. shame must be on you cause u like to go cheap... keep it up ..Mercedes-Benz .. I love the s class's
With those videos you are misleading costumers because they are a lot of different producers of brakes on a market and they are making excellent brakes. As a matter of fact even Mercedes, VAG, BMW are buying brakes from Brembo, TRW, ATE etc... With these videos you are showing that you want that costumer have to pay 30% more for same product only with Mercedes sticker on, because you want to make even more profit although you are making billions of Euros. Shame on you.
pls try to test with the same dry road condition look at the first test with white cla, the road is completely dry shwn in the video. while the other one is not. of course abs will kick in wet road condition with longer braking distance.
I love you Mercedes Benz
People: disc brakes are too hot when applied, Me: touching the discs of cars, motorbikes, cycles every time when applied.
AMG so much better than M-Power
Olaf get a life
Olaf I work on MB they are crap. BMW so much better quality!!!!
Screen Share lol who would believe you xdddddd
Rs all the way
DenkuzI I you must get a life, because im not writing anything bad and you are just sitting in front of computer and hating so xD
Mercedes you know that there is a feature called playback speed and that if you set it on 0.25 you can clearly see that the break lights of the second vehicle lighted up way later than the first one's right?
A genuine product is the real product....all the more cost goes in ensuring safety is paramount.......bcoz after no one knows their products better than the manufacturer....and they always keeps a balance in everything....it's clearly evident in this video
compare those with ATE pads and rotors for example.
