My Sister passed away a few days ago at the age of 53 from cancer . She was a massive Duran Duran fan ever since we are kids . This music will always remind me of her and us growing up

It’s a terrible, awful song. It’s like Bryan Adams’ Everything I Do (I Do It For You), a 90s slow ballad that’s stuck in the 80s and can’t adapt. There is literally no difference between the two.

I met Simon on the KISS cruise last year, he's a heck of a nice guy. He's very humble, and down to earth. He really seems to miss performing, and was thrilled to know we knew who he was.
How can he miss performing? They seem to be on tour more often now than ever.
Save a Prayer and A view to a kill are masterpieces from this band! Love them!

Josh Hales ditto that! They started right at their best. And then, it just got too big to hold it together. But they were a great band - still are - but they have not topped those two albums yet.
Thanks for the playlist. So many great hits and memories. We all have our personal favourites and there's some amazing material to choose from. Save a Prayer, Ordinary World, Come Undone, Rio, Reflex, Is There Anyone Out There ... it goes on. Just grateful I lived through this music.

Wow. Top 10 plus honorable mentions and no sign of 'Is There Something I Should Know?'? That song had as much to do with establishing them as rock stars as any other single tune.

Yeah, it's a tough one. Back then it was so rare for a song to debut at number one.. but I wouldn't place it in their top 10 songs. My fave DD song is New Moon On Monday and it didn't get a mention either

Man, those exotic locale videos from the Rio album really bring back memories of waiting for MTV to play a Duran video in the early 80's...when a Duran video came on, everyone in the room stopped what they were doing to watch...glad to have been a teenager back then and happy that Duran Duran was there to make it special! :D
Those videos were shot in my country in 1982. I could not believe I only found out a few days ago. I found new love for Save A Prayer, Hungry Like a Wolf and Lonely In Your Nightmare, haha. I'm glad the videos brought back memories, and Its so nice to hear the comments by you, and watchmojo as well. Even if Sri Lanka didn't amount to much in international pop music this is quite huge :P.
I remember watching these videos when I was a kid. I lived in the middle of boring cornfields in the middle of wisconsin at the time. Their videos gave me a chance to see really neat exotic locations that I probably would never see in my life. It was such a joy to see one of their videos on tv.
Rajith, absolutely...I am sure that there are many more people out in the world that know about Sri Lanka's fame as the location for the best Duran videos. I remember learning about Sri Lanka as a 13 year old because Duran Duran shot their beautiful videos there. :)

Come Undone at #9 is unjustly way underrated. #1 on my list. Lyrically brilliant, and beautifully mixed. Ordinary World also needs to be much higher. Those two, along with Hungry Like The Wolf are their best three songs imo.
All Duran Duran songs are great, but the best in my mind were 2 album fillers on Rio. Just listen to the great writing of the songs 'Last chance on the stairway' and 'lonely in your nightmare'. Truly best Duran Duran.

First heard of them in 1982 when I was 14. Became a fan and have been ever since. Saw the original band play in concert twice. Great show. LeBon is 61 now and is aging well.

"New Moon On Monday" is missing! One of the best DD songs... sadly overlooked and underrated
I'm generally more of a fan of the rock from that era, but New Moon On Monday is an incredible song that I can't help bobbing my head to when listening.

I love Duran Duran. Their music really reminds me of the more.....artsy, decadent scene of the 80's. Listening to their music makes me think of being in LA or Miami, in an ultra-modern house or condo overlooking the ocean, with white walls, white carpets, and black furniture, surrounded by very beautiful and sleek mysterious women who always look as if they just took a shower or came out of a pool. If anyone is familiar with the artist Patrick Nagel, you'll understand the type of woman I'm talking about. In fact, one of Nagel's women was on the cover of the Rio album.
Sounds like materialistic, artificial bourgeois nonsense, and just what grunge rightfully destroyed.
“Artsy decadent” was my experience in the 80s. It was an amazing place in time. I was blessed with so many outrageous things. The music is legendary. Need I say more? X

I am 53 and my son is 21. I have made sure to pass down my love of Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, the Cure, the Smiths, David Bowie, the Clash, and countless other epic artists to him…it’s our duty as parents

First time I saw them was in 1984 in Atlanta... Sing Blue Silver ! Obviously, Andy Taylor had his chances and failed... I still appreciate the great guitar he played and backup vocals...

When I was a junior high school student, I communicated with Duran Duran fans living in Houston, USA and sent gifts to each other. Especially Japanese music magazines were pleased.
I was particularly happy with American cassette tapes, records and fan goods.

I didn’t expect Save a Prayer to place so high. That’s my favorite Duran Duran song and for a while was my favorite song of all. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it.

Hold Back the Rain is my favorite. It has the fast pace “running” sound of Hungry like the Wolf, enhanced by a rocking guitar, raindrop-sounding synth and the haunted, echo yelping of Simon Le Bon. We’ll have to wait till a movie or commercial grabs it before it becomes popular, cause it truly is an overlooked jam.
