Q: How can you tell a band is truly extraordinary and spellbinding A: When die hard fans put forward their top ten favourite tracks and they are all totally different yet nobody argues or says they are wrong. Why? Because even their worst tracks are head and shoulders above the average bands best tracks and nobody can fault anyone for liking any of them for their own reasons. Have a read of the comments below and this is the only explanation for it. Depeche Mode are one of those rare bands that have touched people's lives in such a strong way that their concerts are almost religious uplifting celebrations that so called organised religions can only dream about holding! Martin wears his heart on his lyric sheets like no other and Dave gives the words life and emotion all to a distinctive soundscape that is like no other. How can even some of the darker topics of some songs be considered uplifting? Because unlike Martin's claim that they may the workings of a diseased mind, they can represent the thoughts that we have but often can't express or in some cases admit to. I dread the day when there will no longer be a new Depeche Mode album on the horizon to look forward to ... at least they will have left a back-catalogue legacy that will continue to uplift current and future generations to come.

One of the first song my best friend.. Pro... played for me 30 years ago.... which made me into a life pong fan . I recall that line really grabbed my attention ...and though.. wow ...deep.. brave
I like this song, too, and it’s helping me through some spiritually dark times, but I’m not surprised it wasn’t mentioned, considering what we have to compare it to.
First of all, props to Mojo on the Top 6 songs, they are the best in any order. However ....You wasted 2 spots on It's No Good and Precious! smh. A Question of Lust? Blasphemous Rumours? Shake the Disease? Somebody? And if you wanna talk about this band's important songs you can't relegate "Just Can't Get Enough" to HM. That song introduced most people to the band. Fly on the Windscreen is still my favorite though.
Agree. Just Can't Get Enough should be on the list. But, watchmojo wants to use commercial success as a criterion. Sigh. Watchmojo, you must know that will bias picks away from early hits toward latter hits! Van Halen's Ain't Talkin' Bout Love and DM's Just Can't Get Enough are good examples.

My dad started listening to this band since he was 15 now he's 50 and he passed down his love of music to me. Iv been listening to this band since I could hear! This is truly my favorite band along side the cure, pink floyd, led zeppelin, and u2! I'm now 15 and I wish more people my age would listen to good music and not all that crap they call music now a days. Depeche mode for life!!!!
True I'm 15 and I love this band sooooooo much I'm an 80s 90 s and much older song person love them so much this band will never die for me :) long live depeche mode
Hi! And here is my list favorite songs from Depeche Mode: 1. Master and Servant 2. Somebody 3. Never let me down again 4. Everything Counts 5. One Caress 6. Stripped 7. Question of Lust 8. People are People 9. Enjoy the Silence 10. Love, in itself 11. Shake The Disease 12. The Things you said 13. Just Can’t Get Enough And in the end I want to say in the words of my favorite song 😊❤ : “it’s lot, it’s lot, it’s lot, it’s lot Master and Servant” 😊❤
I could never pick just 10. These guys are the best. When David and Martin's voices meld in harmony, it is like hot fudge and caramel blending together. And they are absolutely amazing in concert! I have seen them in concert in Santa Barbara where Martin lives and when he sings ''Home'' it is pure and emotional. Not to mention that he sounds EXACTLY (and so does Dave) the same live as in recordings. Their voices need NO tweaking.
My top 10: 10. Home 9. Condemnation 8. In Your Room (Zephyr Mix) 7. World In My Eyes 6. Shake The Disease 5. A Pain That I'm Used To 4. I Am You 3. Enjoy The Silence 2. Dream On 1. Walking In My Shoes

The 80's were undeniably some of the best years of my life with the best music. They say it was the decade of decadence but for me it was the end being free because now we have zero privacy. We played outside till it was dark and our doors were left unlocked. Those times have been gone but the music still lives on and every 80's kid is secretly wanting to return.
I'm 18 and Depeche Mode is my favorite band ever ^^ If I had to make a top 10, it could be like that : 1 : Mercy in You 2 : Higher Love 3 : Master and Servant 4 : Barrel of a gun 5 : Question of time 6 : Enjoy the Silence 7 : Cover Me 8 : Clean 9 : Shine 10 : Personal Jesus/ Walking in my shoes

A DM top ten without "I Feel You", "Stripped", "In Your Room", "Walking in my Shoes", "Useless", "Halo" and "Black Celabration" is very, very debatable.
My top ten: 1: In your Room 2:Enjoy the silence 3:Higher Love 4:The Sweetest Conditon 5:Walking in my shoes 6:World in my eyes 7:Ice Man 8:The Meaning of Love 9:Feel You 10:Home
I utterly love this band and always have. One of the best days of my life seeing them live in London The atmosphere was indescribable and the performance was perfect.
“They can only do harm”. C minor to B. One of my favorite chord changes of all time, and it’s not a long list. That’s how special Enjoy The Silence is.
I fell in love with this group at the age of 12, and now at about 23 I wished more people in my age group knew about them instead listening to crap like Nicki Minaj and whatnot... DM 4 LIFE!!🙌
Depeche Mode =/= 80's ^^ Depeche Mode never did "80's music", they did revolutionary music. Listen to "Fly on the Windscreen" & after listen to A-ah's music "Hunting High And Low" which was the number 1 in 86. Do you understand what I mean ? ^^
And if you want my opinion, the golden years of Depeche Mode wasn't the 80's but the 90's: "Enjoy The Silence", "Policy of Truth", "In Your Room", "Condemnation", "Barrel of a Gun", ... :)
I'd love to see "In Your Room" and/or "Walking In My Shoes" on the list. And what about the new album, Delta Machine? "Alone", "Should Be Higher" and "Welcome To My World" are pretty strong.
Don't miss our look at The History of Depeche Mode and be sure to check out these other great videos, Top 10 Daft Punk Songs The History of The Clash Top 10 Iconic Rock Songs Top 10 Concert Films
you guys are honestly in fucking Disney land.. personal Jesus at #6 and striped not even included? you should be fired.. oh and try to get your info right to begin with so you don't look like such twats
I remember during 1985 my sister would listen to "Somebody" over and over again, then my brother would take all her collection of Depeche Mode cassette tapes, he would listen to "Flexible" "People are People" I would argue with him and my sister Guns and roses Metallica rocks!!, 1989 freshmen year ,I wanted to impress this girl I made a cassette tape mix songs by gnr,Metallica, fat boys Kurtis blow, I added Somebody, She hated every song but she loved " Somebody" very much, from then on I became a Depeche mode fan
I was only properly introduced to Depeche Mode 2-3 years ago. I saw them at the Isle of Wight festival in 2018. Since then I’ve listened to their songs pretty much every day. BUT I think their “popular” songs are massively different to my personal favourites... From their albums as I have them on my iTunes/Apple Music my top songs are: • Speak & Spell - New Life - Nodisco - Dreaming of Me • A Broken Frame - A Photograph of You - Shouldn’t Have Done That • Construction Time Again - Love, in itself - Pipeline - Everything Counts - Two Minute Warning • Some Great Reward - Something to Do - Somebody - Blasphemous Rumours • Black Celebration - Black Celebration - Fly on the Windscreen (Final) - A Question of Lust - Stripped - New Dress - Shake the Disease - But Not Tonight • Music for the Masses - The Things You Said - Strangelove - Sacred - Nothing • Violator - World in my Eyes - Halo - Blue Dress - Clean • Songs of Faith & Devotion - Walking in my Shoes - Condemnation - Mercy in You - In Your Room - Rush - One Caress • Ultra - Barrel of a Gun - The Love Thieves - Home - Useless - Sister of Night - Freestate - Only When I Lose Myself - Surrender • Exciter - When the Body Speaks - The Dead of Night - Freelove • Playing the Angel - A Pain That I’m Used To - I Want it All - Damaged People • Sounds of the Universe - Wrong - Corrupt • Delta Machine - Soothe my Soul • Spirit - Going Backwards - Where’s the Revolution - The Worst Crime - Cover Me - Eternal - Poison Heart - Poorman Having put that list together (and leaving out some obvious ones) it’s fair to say I have bloody loads of favourite Depeche Mode songs... I absolutely love them!
When I was 10 years old (it's been 22 years now), I heard "Blasphemous Rumors" in the 101 album live version for the first time. It completely got me... And they have never let me down since then. I just love their music so much!!!

From the day it was released, 'Strangelove' has always been my favorite song from them. Of course, I was also a club deejay at the time and had a pre-release 12" with multiple cuts that were great for sampling into other songs. It's appeal was broad, too. Straight clubs, gay clubs, raves and even live radio simulcasts. It was an all around winner. Still one of my favorite all time songs 30+ years later.
The first time I saw one of their videos I was 8 years old, Martin was the cutest, best looking boy I had ever seen, 30 some years later I still adore him and Depeche Mode.

I thank Rammstein for introducing me to Depeche Mode officially, even though Personal Jesus provided the first initial intro (through Marilyn Manson), I now love this band!

Q: How can you tell a band is truly extraordinary and spellbinding
A: When die hard fans put forward their top ten favourite tracks and they are all totally different yet nobody argues or says they are wrong.

Personal Jesus amazing song I’m 54 still love them nice one
I'm 17 and I love depeche mode
15 ;)
13 :p Just kidding, 26
I'm 342 years old and I love depeche mode.
And btw I'm commenting this 6000 years BC from my IStone
I'm 15 and when my mother was pregnant she went to a concert of DM, I think that's the reason why I love them :D
Now, I don't want to start any Blasphemous Rumors, but I think that God has a sick sense of humor....
+Michael P. And when I die I expect to find him laughing.
One of the first song my best friend.. Pro... played for me 30 years ago.... which made me into a life pong fan . I recall that line really grabbed my attention ...and though.. wow ...deep.. brave
Miguel Pabonu
I love that song
I also love World Full of Nothing and Puppets.
Well, a song I personally really like is Satellite.
Pupppets is pretty good, world full of nothing is okay, not one of their best in my opinion.
Everything you need to know about IT'S NO GOOD is right there in the title.
My 23 :)
1. Everything Counts
2. Strangelove
3. Never Let Me Down Again
4. Behind the Wheel
5. Stripped
6. People are People

Personal Jesus should have been #1. Also, where was Blasphemous Rumours? It wasn't even a Honorable Mention but should have been in the top 5.

(Btw, I'm 19😆🇩🇪)
My dad started listening to this band since he was 15 now he's 50 and he passed down his love of music to me. Iv been listening to this band since I could hear! This is truly my favorite band along side the cure, pink floyd, led zeppelin, and u2! I'm now 15 and I wish more people my age would listen to good music and not all that crap they call music now a days. Depeche mode for life!!!!
I'm with you! 70% of the music I listen to is from the 70's-80's and 90's, listening to what they play on the radio nowadays is torture for me.
True I'm 15 and I love this band sooooooo much I'm an 80s 90 s and much older song person love them so much this band will never die for me :) long live depeche mode
+infinite36HD Totally agree, I'm a Depeche, Cure, Joy Division, Smiths freak for life
Jack Valentino yes!!
Shaughnessy Young 1975!! I saw them live!
Hi! And here is my list favorite songs from Depeche Mode:
1. Master and Servant
2. Somebody
3. Never let me down again
4. Everything Counts

7. Question of Lust
8. People are People
9. Enjoy the Silence
10. Love, in itself
11. Shake The Disease

13. Just Can’t Get Enough
And in the end I want to say in the words of my favorite song 😊❤ : “it’s lot, it’s lot, it’s lot, it’s lot Master and Servant” 😊❤
My top 10:
10. Home

08. Dreaming Of Me
09.Two Minute Warning
10. Nothing
As someone who grew up in the 80's,.I totally agree!
I'm 18 and Depeche Mode is my favorite band ever ^^ If I had to make a top 10, it could be like that :

I would have to add
“But not Tonight”
A DM top ten without "I Feel You", "Stripped", "In Your Room", "Walking in my Shoes", "Useless", "Halo" and "Black Celabration" is very, very debatable.
Heaven totally amazing
Any top 10 without those songs proves what an incredible band they always were.
Behind the Wheel?
what happened to " shake the disease " .. not even a mention ! .
How the hell can One Caress NOT be on this list....it's an amazingly beautiful & haunting song.....WTF not even an honorable mention
I love Martin's voice.
My top ten:
1: In your Room
2:Enjoy the silence
3:Higher Love
4:The Sweetest Conditon
5:Walking in my shoes
6:World in my eyes

I utterly love this band and always have. One of the best days of my life seeing them live in London The atmosphere was indescribable and the performance was perfect.
Best band ever !
Yup!
Totally!
Love the Delta Machine photo
Nah....lol thats The Cure....not even close...especially when you use the word BAND
@@mapndo2337 neither Depeche Mode nor The Cure is the best.. what's wrong with y'all
“They can only do harm”.
DM 4 LIFE!!🙌
One of the best group ever ! And the most beautiful voice since 80's !
I agree. I'm 13 and I start listening to 80's and Depeche Mode about 10. They're awesome!
Maxime Gallina Yeah...that's the reason, why I wrote 80's music AND Depeche Mode. ;)
Every Depeche Mode song is my favorite Depeche Mode song.
I'd love to see "In Your Room" and/or "Walking In My Shoes" on the list.
And what about the new album, Delta Machine? "Alone", "Should Be Higher" and "Welcome To My World" are pretty strong.

I Like Your Style!
er, what happened to Enjoy The Silence (Remastered)? Was it just counted in the same spot as the original?
I remember during 1985 my sister would listen to "Somebody" over and over again, then my brother would take all her collection of Depeche Mode cassette tapes, he would listen to "Flexible" "People are People" I would argue with him and my sister Guns and roses Metallica rocks!!, 1989 freshmen year ,I wanted to impress this girl I made a cassette tape mix songs by gnr,Metallica, fat boys Kurtis blow, I added Somebody, She hated every song but she loved " Somebody" very much, from then on I became a Depeche mode fan
I think wrong should definitely be on the top 10. It's just so good and mesmerizing.
I was only properly introduced to Depeche Mode 2-3 years ago. I saw them at the Isle of Wight festival in 2018. Since then I’ve listened to their songs pretty much every day. BUT I think their “popular” songs are massively different to my personal favourites...

Having put that list together (and leaving out some obvious ones) it’s fair to say I have bloody loads of favourite Depeche Mode songs... I absolutely love them!
I thought Strange Love would be in the top 3. I am surprised that "Somebody" didn't make the list.
I agree, Enjoy the Silence is the all time best Depeche Mode song and live the song sounds amazing!!
"Heaven" from The Delta Machine should have been mentioned. Yes, that album happened.
FUCK YEAH!
I was just waiting to hear Enjoy The Silence at the first place.
One of the best songs ever made.
\o/
Everything counts
...in large amounts
When I was 10 years old (it's been 22 years now), I heard "Blasphemous Rumors" in the 101 album live version for the first time. It completely got me... And they have never let me down since then. I just love their music so much!!!
You can't just choose 10 Depeche Mode songs, they're an amazing band and all of their songs are equally great.

The Sun and the Rainfall? Suffer Well? The Sinner in Me? Blasphemous Rumours? Walking In My Shoes? Halo?
they should make NEXT top 10 Depeche Mode songs :)
nimwe24 There's just too many good ones. I honestly expected BR and WIMS to be here, considering both were actually hits.
I think watch mojo can make 4 or 5 top 10 Depeche Mode songs ... I really enjoy to listen the whole cataloge
But Not Tonight & Blasphemous Rumours are my favorite!
blasphemous rumours should be on this list. somebody?
I saw them in concert back in 2001. THEY WERE PHENOMENAL!!! It was the best concert I have ever been to!!!
Depeche Mode! I love this band! And what I just said is coming from a metal head.

The best 3 songs, in my oppinion. Could easy count 20 Others, great band! ❤
I am 13 years old and I am a big fan of Depeche Mode ❤️🖤
From the day it was released, 'Strangelove' has always been my favorite song from them. Of course, I was also a club deejay at the time and had a pre-release 12" with multiple cuts that were great for sampling into other songs. It's appeal was broad, too. Straight clubs, gay clubs, raves and even live radio simulcasts. It was an all around winner. Still one of my favorite all time songs 30+ years later.
Do you guys have a "Most underrated bands" top 10? These guys would be right up there.
The first time I saw one of their videos I was 8 years old, Martin was the cutest, best looking boy I had ever seen, 30 some years later I still adore him and Depeche Mode.
Martin and the band are timeless classics, just like your enduring love for them. Cheers to the magic of music and memories!
